The butler's task

Inside a ranch on the outskirts of Weammont city, a loud sound startled a certain butler who was cleaning the kitchen of the newly bought house.

He looked in the direction of the sound and saw his master standing with a faint red mist engulfing his fist.

The coffee table in front of him was already reduced to dust. Putting the pieces together, Gorgon deducted that the broken table was the deed of his master.

"Gorgon!" he heard a shout of his name, something he expected to happen sooner or later. He left the kitchen and walked past a long dining table that separated the kitchen and the living room.

"Master!" he answered with a bow while stealing a glance at the coffee table he painstakingly fought for from the hands of the crazy shoppers in Weammont city. His heart bled, seeing the elegantly crafted wood turned to dirt that would end up being swept by his broom later.

"Master, what's troubling you?" he politely asked, inviting Van Raven's flared pupils to him.

The man sighed. Gorgon's composed self eased the edge of cold rage that streaked through him like a volcanic eruption. He ran his fingers through his hair and started to pace back and forth in the living room.

It was rare for him to lose his temper, but since he met her, everything became a road map of emotions. The moment he established the telepathic link between them, his life changed, for everything about her was overtly known to him. Things that made him happy, sad, angry, and fearful.

One of those things was the longing spell that was sitting arrogantly on the throne of her heart, telling it to beat for someone who cast such a humiliating spell.

For the entire day, he tried to figure out the mastermind, only to know that the very person was someone of his bloodline.

"Gorgon, bring Dominic's corpse to me!" he instructed.

Gorgon blinked, confused why Dominic's name came up. He knew of that young man who was an expert in butt-licking. Every time he saw him, he would always stick closer to the current head of the Noblebloed, like a leech.

"May I know why, sir?" he asked.

'He's a fly. An insignificant fly,' he thought. Dominic wasn't deserving of his great master's attention.

"That man… Nevermind, just bring his corpse here," Van Raven sat on the couch's arm and folded his hands.

"Right away, master!" Gorgon responded, knowing that it was the right time to stop prying on his master's mind. He was about to remove his apron but decided not to when he heard another instruction from his master.

"Wait! You don't have to kill him. I'm going to skin him alive and feed him to the insects. Lend me your dermestids. Let those flesh-eating beetles savor him alive."

"Oh, okay!" Gorgon replied. He realized that the murderous aura emitting from his master's body was now centered on his deadly smile of cunningness.

Something was cooking inside his head.

"No, that's insufficient! I need a torture room and your dermestids!"

Hearing the ever-changing instructions, Gorgon felt his head spinning. He stared absentmindedly at his master, thinking about the times he had to endure his fickle temperament and came to a realization that this was still tolerable.

"Why are you still here?" Van Raven asked, raising an eyebrow at his dazed butler.

Gorgon thought about retiring, but then, seeing the usual innocent look of his master, he went against the idea.

"Master, what's the instruction? Should I kill Dominic or let him live? Or should I prepare a torture room in this ranch?" he asked. "But, please spare my bugs. They're still babies."

Van Raven grinned when he heard Gorgon's slightly annoyed voice. His bristly eyebrows relaxed.

"Ahem!" he cleared his throat, placing one leg on top of the other.

"Bring him to me alive!" That was his final verdict. He looked at where Gorgon was standing, and realized that it was now an empty spot. Indeed, he was the world's best butler!

Meanwhile…

Dominic, who managed to leave the mansion without notifying anyone, was driving his car on the highway when a figure suddenly appeared in the passenger seat beside him.

His appearance shocked him, prompting him to hit the brake immediately. At that moment, a screeching sound echoed in the empty highway.

"What the f*ck!" he cursed, staring dagger to the man who appeared out of nowhere. A deep furrow formed in his brows when he saw the man's appearance. He was… homely with an apron and bandanna that covered his head.

Dominic noticed the man yawn while giving him an annoyed side glance.

"Drive!" a voice came out of his mouth, one that was capable of intimidation.

"W-Who are you?!" Dominic ignored the danger signs. The man's conceitedness angered him.

"Dominic, are you sure that question is for me?" the man asked. Listening to the smugness in his voice, Dominic wanted to slap him in the face a thousand times. His intense gaze fell on the man's side profile while going through all the images inside his head, trying to find an image that matched this man's unruly behavior...

"Gorgon?" he mumbled slowly. Then it sank in. "Gorgon!"

"You're…" he looked at the man in fear.

"What a slowpoke," Gorgon sneered.

"Follow the map. My master is waiting for your arrival," he said with a tone that discouraged responses and reclined his seat. Then, he buckled his seatbelt and closed his eyes.

Beside Gorgon was Dominic, who was bewildered. He stared at the man who acted as if he owned the car.

Aware that someone was looking at him, Gorgon glanced at Dominic. His indifferent gaze lowered and turned judgemental the moment he saw the freedom in his waist.

"Buckled up!" he yelled at him.

Hearing this, Dominic's mouth formed an O. He stared at the man who was currently humming with his eyes closed. Next, he stared at the navigation panel and noticed that the destination was changed to an unfamiliar address.

'I don't believe my power can't beat him,' he thought while directing his power to his right fist. However, the summoning of power halted when a chilling voice came from the passenger seat.

"Don't even try. I'm the butler of a pureblood. Do you think I'm that weak?" Gorgon spoke with his eyes closed still.

Dominic swallowed a mouthful of saliva and decided that it was better to obey what he was telling him than to fight.

"W-Why did he want to meet me?" he asked.

"Well, to kill you. Maybe."
