8 Will I Die if I Make Love to You?

Powerful vampires like Nikolai had the special ability to hypnotize and compel humans, but it wasn't the same for her.

She bit her inner cheek. She had to keep her act together. Nobody could be allowed to find out that she was immune to being hypnotized or compelled.

"I'm cursed to remain untainted forever, any man who touches me will meet a fatal end," she answered without blinking as she pretended to be hypnotized convincing Nikolai that his compulsion had worked.

Mineah didn't lie, it was an embarrassing truth. For years, Seer Beirut and her Shadow Maidens had been helping her in silence to find the best astronomer that could predict when the Blood Moon would occur so she would at least know how much time she had in breaking her curses.

Nikolai blinked, intently staring at her. Those gold flecks on his amber-colored eyes were searching deep into her soul. It was so mesmerizing that Mineah found herself being pulled in.

"Are you saying that I am not allowed to consummate my own marriage?" he hummed and Mineah's grip on the side of her gown tightened as his face came closer while his eyes never left her own.

She gulped her nonexistent saliva, as she contemplated whether to voice out her thoughts.

"You… Did you realize that what you have done is a gamble and an act of treason against me and my kingdom?" he remarked with a straight face.

Of course she knew this, but anytime soon she would bring death to many innocent people that she cared for. It was a gamble worth taking especially for someone like her who had a ticking time bomb looming over her head.

"Our Seer saw me marrying you in his vision. He told me about the possibility of you being able to help me end this curse. I don't doubt that since you are the most powerful IMMORTAL I know," she calculatively uttered.

There was a pin-drop silence in the carriage, it seemed like the two of them were battling on who would blink first when he suddenly burst out, laughing.

Mineah blushed at his reaction. She didn't expect him to react in such a way. Then again, what she just said was kind of foolish and ridiculous, so maybe it was the perfect reaction.

"Is that why you're so confident in replacing your sister," he remarked as if he just read her mind. "You think that an immortal like me won't die to this so-called curse of yours? But what if I die?"

"So tell me Mine, will I die if I make love to you?" Nikolai asked again, rephrasing his last question in a deep and husky voice.

She inwardly clicked her tongue. Vampires such as him seemed to be natural at seduction. She felt like she was being lured into temptation every time he opened his lips to speak to her, and she almost had this urge to tell him that a powerful being such as him should just go ahead and try to make love to her to get his answer.

He was immortal, yet that still didn't mean that he would be spared from the curse's potential effects.

What if he truly died if they consummated their marriage? She had to capture his heart first before he could die on her, so she must not let him consummate their marriage until she succeeded in capturing his heart!

Mineah felt a lump form at the back of her throat. Quickly clearing it, she timidly suggested, "Or you can always just not sleep with me and avoid taking the risk, Lai."

"So you're telling me that I can't even consummate my marriage with you and bed you?"

He sounded displeased, not to mention how his face had dimmed with the prospect.

"I can always try to please you with other methods," she murmured with an awkward smile as a blush crept up on her cheeks.

She knew she should impose a more confident look, but it was quite hard not to blush at what she just said.

Mineah wasn't naive. She studied enough, and she was somehow confident that she could achieve her goals by any means without them consummating the marriage. There were other ways to get intimate and give her husband pleasure according to her studies, so she would try those other methods.

Still, she couldn't help but wonder if this fact would make him abandon her instead.

'Maybe I should have just mentioned my other curse of me dying when the moon turns red,' she inwardly sighed. She purposely told him about that embarrassing curse because she at some point wanted to warn him too about that she was cursed to remain pure, giving him the choice to do it or not with her. After all, he was her husband now and he had the right to know about that particular curse.

While she was too busy thinking, Mineah flinched when she felt Nikolai's hand caressing her cheek, pulling her from her thoughts and back down to earth.

"It's very rare for female vampires to be blessed by the heavens to bear children," Nikolai simply stated.

Mineah looked at him with a lifted eyebrow, not minding how skeptical she might've looked at him as she scorned, "And female humans are the best breeding mates for vampires."

However, Mineah refused to believe that an heir was the only reason why the Valcrez Kingdom strongly demanded a marriage alliance.

"You look unconvinced with your own statement though," Nikolai muttered.

"Well, you can easily pick any and as many human females that you want to breed with if you really simply wanted a child, but wouldn't it be better for you to have a more powerful wife like a werewolf? A fairy?" she pointed out with a scoff, her face twitching as she voiced out her honest opinion. "Any other creature would be more than capable of bearing you an heir."

This was ridiculous. She hated the fact that vampires were using humans to breed.
