Man vs Beast

Kai Is walking to Bibble and Sips to grab a coffee. Kai grabs a coffee. He talks with the waitress, and then leaves. Kai watches as a limo drives up to him, and then stops. A man comes out of the passenger seat, and opens the door.

Bodyguard: Sit.

Kai: Um, alright.

Kai gets inside of the limo and sits down. When Kai looks up he sees Jayden Bordon. The president of the United states.

President Borden: As you should know I arrived in town a few days ago.

They hear a door close, and the limo starts driving off.

President Borden: All this Mutant nonsense is making me do extra work. I was able to get a headstart on it because I knew it was going to happen-

Kai: Why did you just pick me up in a limbo, and why are you explaining your hectic week to me?

President Borden: That's simple Mr.Adara. You are the Crimson Dragon. You talk about yourself as if you are no mutant.

Kai: How do you-

President Borden: I'm the president of the United States. I have a proposition.

Kai: Your proposition is?

President Borden: Let's start with what you must do. You will become New York's personal superhero. A hero that the people can look up to in a world full of chaos.

Kai: Why not have someone who is already liked, like Repulse?

President Borden: She may be powerful, but she is not someone that the masses will take kindly as being there kids favorite superhero. While the Crimson Dragon has flare.

Kai: Crimson Dragon is meant to be blood dragon.

President Borden: I don't care what it was supposed to be, nor did I ask. You don't kill. All you'll have to do is try not to beat them up to bad. You'll have the police's resources at your disposal.

Kai: What do you mean?

President Borden: You'll have access to all their tech. You will always have the new Meta-cuffs. They are handcuffs that negate Mutant and Meta powers. You'll be loved by all. You can even have a whole team… that I allow.

Kai: Is that all I get?

President Borden: I wasn't finished. I'll make sure your company is started even faster. You'll have the public glasses you're working on out to the public in four months. Five if you want your own store. Oh, and finally a mansion.

Kai: Why?! Why do I need a mansion?!

President Bordon: To make your superhero activities easier to perform. The mansion will be specially built.

Kai: I don't know-

President Bordon: I forgot to mention. I'll kill you if you refuse my deal. I can't be having anyone I don't trust just walking around with this kind of information. Now, your answer.

President Bordon picks up his drinks, and drinks as Kai is thinking.

Kai: I don't have much of a choice.

President Bordon shakes Kai's hand.

President Bordon: That's what I thought.

He looks at the fact Kai has a drink too. President Bordon zones out for a bit. Then looks back up at Kai.

President Bordon: I have a feeling we will like each other.

He passes Kai a package.

President Bordon: This package has your first mission in it. Think of this mission as a test drive.

The car stops, and the bodyguard opens the door. Kai goes to leave.

President Bordon: If you try to run. I'll kill you.

President Bordon starts drinking his beverage, and the bodyguard shuts the door. The bodyguard gets back in the passenger seat, and the limo drives off.

Kai: The fuck. I shouldn't open this here.

Kai walks back to his house, and lays on the couch. Kai then tears open the package, and sees handcuffs inside. He picks up a piece of paper with writing inside.

Kai: Grandfather…

In the grandfather's business' lab the grandfather is laying on a table. There are eight mutants on tables around him. Each mutant has a blood bag. Grandfather has IV's hooked up to him.

Scientist: Are you ready?

Grandfather is chained down by meta chains that make powers unusable.

Grandfather: Do it!

They put an item in grandfather's mouth for him to bite down on. Each blood bag gets transferred into him one by one. Grandfather yelling through the item he is biting down on. Soon the procedure is finished. Grandfather is sweating. They take out the item in his mouth.

Scientist: How do you feel?

Grandfather: Different.

Scientist: How so?

Grandfather's eyes light up white.

Grandfather: Different.

The scientist runs, and white eye beams blast him into a wall. Grandfather breaks the chains that are on him. He hops off the table. A scientist runs back in, and shoots him with a plasma gun. Grandfather is unfazed, and slams his arm into the scientist. The scientist goes flying into a wall.

Grandfather: It's time to make my great return.

Grandfather jumps up breaking through ceilings one by one to get to the surface floor. The alarm goes off for an experiment gone wrong. The whole building lights up red as the alarm is all they can hear. Kai is reading the paper.

Kai: He's been capturing mutants for an unknown reason.

Remi texts Kai a video. Kai turns on the video. He sees grandfather break through a floor, and is now the surface foor. Grandfather growls at the man, and then jumps up to one of the high windows. He breaks through the window and out of sight.

Recorder: What the fuck dude!

Kai turns off the video, and texts Remi.

Kai(text): I'll handle it.

Remi(text): And I'll report it.

Kai gets on his suit and takes off to the city. He goes to the area around the business grandfather jumped out of.

Kai: Where is he?

Kai looks around, but sees nothing. Then a beast-like creature tackles Kai.. They fly in one direction breaking through walls of apartments. The beast-like creature is punching Kai one jab after another. Then the beast blasts Kai with laser eyes. The creature stops flying through buildings, but Kai breaks through the last wall, and hits the pavement hard. Kai gets back up, and the creature lands in front of him.

Grandfather: Last time I saw you was right before I went to jail.

Kai: What now? You want revenge.

Grandfather: I want a lot of things, but now, I can get them.

Grandfather opens his mouth, and fire comes out like a flamethrower. Kai does a backhand spring, and dodges the flames. Grandfather jumps into the air, and slams down as he its the ground. The ground makes a crater. Kai teleported out before Grandfather hit him. Kai slams his staff on grandfather's head. Grandfather blinks, and starts shaking. Kai starts backing up.

Kai: Are you having a seizure?

An explosive wave comes off grandfather exploding everything around him. Kai gets blasted back by the front of the wave taking all the damage. Kai hits the ground hard again. Kai is snapping in and out of consciousness. Kai gets his barings back, and looks up to see everything in there radius had just been turned to ruble some of it was lit on fire. Kai gets back on his feet, and a spear goes through his stomach. Blood spews out of Kai's mouth. Kai drops to his knees, and pulls the spear out. Another spear comes out of grandfather's palm, like a spear made of bone. Grandfather ounces on Kai. He slashes Kai up, down, left, and right with his spear. Grandfather goes for the overhead strike. Kai blocks the strike with his staff. Grandfather laughs, and headbuts Kai. Kai falls back. Grandfather stabs the spear down. Kai teleports behind some rubble to catch his breath.

Kai: I can only keep up somewhat in speed. He outmatches me in everything else. He's unbeatable!

Grandfather shoots eye beams through the rubble, and they blast Kai.

Grandfather: X-ray vision comes in handy!

Kai gets up after the blast in his back. His body was covered in bruises, blood, and cuts. Kai gets up, and then puts his hands up for combat. Grandfather laughs at him, and then charges. In the middle of the charge Grandfather dropped to his knees holding his head.

Grandfather: AHHH!

Kai: My chance!

Kai teleports in with his staff. He starts slamming Grandfather. As he is attacking grandfather's hair grows to a length that is beyond his back. He grows beastly hair all over his body. His muscles grow larger. Grandfather's shirt breaks, and falls off of him. Grandfather's teeth all turn into large fangs along with him growing claws instead of nails. Kai goes for another staff hit, and grandfather catches it. Grandfather throws Kai. Then, while Kai is in the air, he runs behind Kai punching him in the back. He runs to the front of Kai while he is in the air, and slams him on the ground. Then he throws Kai up into the air. Grandfather super jumps, and uppercuts Kai in the middle of his back. Kai gets boosted up, and grandfather starts falling down. Grandfather looks at Kai. Kai starts falling down, and Grandfather shoots laser eyes at him which boosts him in the air again. Grandfather super jumps to Kai's height and slams Kai down. Kai smashes into the ground creating a crater larger than the crater when Grandfather slammed into the ground himself. Kai looks completely incompacitated. Grandfather lands on the ground. The pavement cracks beneath him. Then he spits on the ground near Kai.

Grandfather: You were nothing. As weak and brittle as any human in my eyes.

Grandfather starts walking away.

Kai: Brittle maybe, but I'm not weak.

Kai gets up. His back broken, some of his skin simmered, a gaping hole with cuts from the spear, bruises all over him, and covered in blood.

Grandfather: I see. I never used my claws on you. You want claw marks too?

Grandfather starts charging Kai. Kai feels essence in his hand. Almost as if he is holding something that doesn't have a weight. Kai takes out his staff and swings. His back gives out, and he swings too early. A white blast looking like a slice in the air comes off of the staff. The white slice slams into Grandfather. Grandfather feels almost as a thousand blades trying to cut him open. He gets blasted back. He hits the ground and bounces like skipping stones on the pavement before sliding to a stop. Kai falls over from the back pain.

Kai(in head): The spiritual energy. Maybe I can finally use it again.

Grandfather gets up as well as Kai. Grandfather has rocks from the pavement stuck in his skin. Grandfather growls from anger. Grandfather charges Kai, and Kai blasts him with spirit energy. Kai swings his arms to send off each blast. Grandfather gets annoyed by Kai making it hard to get close. Grandfather blasts at Kai with eye beams. Kai x blocks his face with his arms. The beams hit something in front of him. As the beams hit the invisible object it glows a white.

Kai(in head): A spirit shield?

Grandfather takes the chance to run at Kai. Kai slams his staff on the side of grandfather. Before Kai's staff knocked grandfather away from Kai grandfather slashed three giant gashes with his claws on Kai's torso. Grandfather hits the ground and slides away. Kai falls down from the pain of the gashes. Grandfather gets up. Kai sees him from the ground.

Kai: Do you ever stop?!

Grandfather: Not until I win! I will push on even if I die!

Kai gets up as grandfather walks over to him. Kai charges up his staff.

Grandfather: I'll finish this. Dual claws.

Grandfather launches at Kai. As soon as Grandfather gets to Kai, Kai thrusts his staff into Grandfather's heart. A white ring comes around the staff, and the staff goes through grandfather crushing his heart. Grandfather stops from the force of the staff against him. Then grandfather falls off the staff.

Kai: Fuck…

Kai falls to the ground. When Kai's eyes start to open he sees President Bordon.

President Bordon: That was some nice work. I loved every second. The people will too.

Kai's eyes close again. Kai wakes up for a split second once he is being put on the stretcher. Kai wakes up again in the hospital. President Bordon walks in.

President Bordon: You're awake? Good. That was fine work out there. Now the people love you. They watched you almost die to protect this city. That underdog status was great too.

Kai: What are you talking about?

President Bordon: When you were losing, but brought it back with those spirit powers. Everything was perfect. They'll now start calling you a hero. Once you start putting in extra work to take down criminals you'll officially be famous. Everything I promised you is on its way.

President Bordon goes to leave.

Kai: I don't think I'm powerful enough to be taking on these kinds of foes.

President Bordon chuckles.

President Bordon: Do you think you know more than me?

Kai: No.

President Bordon: Then why would you question what I tell you when you don't even have the information to back it up?

President Bordon leaves the room. Kai watches the for a few minutes before Az walks in. Az walks up to Kai.

Az: Hey.

Kai: Hey.

Az puts a knife to Kai's neck.

Az: We're coming after you.

Kai: Who?!

Az: The chaste. I feel like you deserve to know that.

Az takes the blade away from Kai's throat. Then opens the window. Az jumps out the window. Kai jumps out of bed almost completely healed.

Kai: What's about to happen?
