6,000 Students!

Kai is on the couch, and Cal is grabbing his keys to leave.

Cal: You're so lazy! Why don't you go to the gym, or, I don't know, get an actual job?

Kai: That's a lot of work!

Cal: Well that's not my problem. You're the one that doesn't have a job to pay his bills. Anyway, I'm going shopping.

Cal leaves.

Kai(in head): Wow, that's the first time he has ever told me what the hell he's doing. Maybe he is trying to be nicer.

Kai is just watching TV, and then changes the channel to the news.

Reporter guy: Breaking news! Every Brooklyn technical high school bus has just exploded. This means that almost 6000 kids were on the bus at this time. We have no idea the casualties and death counts at this time. If we get any new information about this disaster you'll be the first to know.

Kai sees the recording of the explosions going off. The explosion has some weird purple black smoke coming out of it.

Kai(in head): That's definitely not a regular bomb. Are the reporters just not allowed to say that? I need to check this out for myself.

Kai puts on his somewhat superhero gear, and goes out. Kai then has to travel over a bridge to get to brooklyn. Eventually Kai finds a crash site. He sees cops pulling kids out of the bus.

Kai: It looks like the cops have this thing covered. I mean, it is kids.

A young woman wakes up looking frightened.

Kai: What is that kid gonna do?

All of a sudden a pink psychic blast pushes everyone near her back. Then she starts running away.

Kai: Hm, are her powers a coincidence? I should ask.

Kai follows the girl. Eventually she hides at a skatepark. Kai jumps down from the rooftops to see this girl. She is breathing heavy, and looks frightened.

Young girl: Who are you?!

Kai: Don't worry. I have superpowers too.

Young girl: What are the cops going to do to me?

Kai: When did you get your powers?

Young girl: I-I-I don't know. I think, after the explosion.

Kai(in head): The explosion gave her powers!?

Kai: Everythings gonna be okay. Why don't you just go back to your parents? They should be able to keep you safe.

Young girl: They're kind of far away. Can you help me get there?

Kai(in head): I'm not a fucking superhero!

Kai: Of course I will.

Kai walks the high schooler to her house which takes about twenty minutes. While they were talking she said her name was Chloe. Then once they get to the house she hugs Kai.

Chloe: Thank you. I must've been a burden, and I'm sorry.

Kai: Calm down. It was only a twenty minute walk. It's really not that big of a deal.

Kai pats her on the head, and she goes inside.

Kai(in head): She's an adorable kid, but more importantly! Did every kid on those busses get fucking superpowers? Shit, this might be really terrible.

Kai starts scouting the city.

Kai(in head): These kids aren't going to know what to do. There could be six thousand kids confused and scared. What I'm afraid of most is that someone is going to step up to become their leader. If a person steps up they'll follow them blindly. Even if that person is putting them on the wrong path.

Kai finds six scared kids trying to fight a man. This man has short white hair, and green glowing goggles. He has a white lab coat with armor under it. He even has a white mask to go over his nose and mouth. He has a gun on each side of him. They are some type of enhanced gun because Kai has never seen anything like it before. The man looks older, but still in great shape.

Old Man: Well, this is the end of the road for you.

Kid1: What did we do?!

Kid3: Please, we didn't do anything!

Old Man: No, no you didn't. Oh wait, you have powers. I'm going to need to test your bodies. Learn how your powers work. Then maybe I'll let you go.

Kid6: Will it hurt?

Old Man: Oh yeah, it'll only hurt hurt a lot. Probably the worst kind of pain you've ever experienced!

Kai hops down between the kids and the old man.

Kai: I have a feeling you wouldn't let them go either.

The old man sighs.

Old Man: No, probably not.

The old man takes out his two guns, and spins them around before pointing them at Kai.

Old Man: Please tell me we're gonna fight. I've been itching for a good fight for like ten years.

Kai: I'll fight you if you don't let these kids go.

Old Man: Well, I guess that was your declaration for war.

The old man starts shooting green bullets at Kai. Kai runs to the side to dodge the shots. Kai takes out his staff, and starts blocking the electric bullets. The guns come out of the old man's metal shoulder pads. Kai starts spinning his staff around like a windmill trying to block every shot that comes to him. He blocks most of the shots, but gets grazed by two bullets. The old man then throws a grenade in the air, and starts shooting at Kai. Kai was trying to dodge the bullets, and then as the grenade was near Kai. The old man shoots the grenade. Kai jumps out of the way, and barely dodges it. The old man changes one of his gun's modes, and shoots a dart at Kai. Kai being on the ground made it hard for him to dodge. Kai gets hit with the tranquilizer dart, and starts feeling droopy.

Old Man: You've been beaten. Well, you should at least know the name of the man who beat you. You shall know me as The Chemist.

Kai(in head): Tranquilizer darts take a few minutes to set in. So I have a few minutes to take him out.

Kai puts his staff back on his belt, and runs up to The Chemist to start throwing punches. Kai feels slower than before, but then sweeped The Chemist's leg. The man fell over, and Kai tried to jab him with his staff. The Chemist rolled over, and got back up. The Chemist then had his shoulder turrets start shooting at Kai. All Kai could do was take out his staff, and slowly walk up to the guy while spinning his staff. Kai was now running out of time, and started slowing down. Then The Chemist gave Kai a good right hook, and Kai was knocked out. When Kai awoke the kids and old man were gone.

Kai(in head): Shit, I couldn't even protect those kids. I need to find that guy, and break those kids out of whatever prison he has them in.

While Kai was thinking, green ooze caught his eye. Kai walks over to it.

Kai(in head): Hmm, I gotta make a note of this.

Kai goes back home on the couch, and thinks to himself about where this guy could be.

Kai(in head): Hmm, The Chemist. Oh, I got it! He's a chemist. He would have to be in an old science lab, and if the first place he went to was that alleyway he must be close to there. Tomorrow I have to go, and find out where he is.

Cal: My shows on, get up!

Kai: Really?

Cal: Yeah, really. Why do you even like the couch so much. You literally have your own bed!

Kai: you literally have your own TV!

Cal: Fair played.

Kai gets up, and goes into his room to go to sleep. The next day, Kai is out looking for an old abandoned lab.

Kai: Where is it? There has to be something here.

After hours of searching it eventually becomes night. Kai finally finds the place. The building still looks nice from the outside so Kai didn't even realize it was abandoned. Kai sneaks in through a window. He uses a flashlight to look around. He sees chemicals everywhere. Then as he is walking around he sees someone. Kai follows them around a corner, but when Kai turns the corner the shadowy figure is gone.

Kai(in head): Wow, I didn't know this place had ghosts. Wait a minute.

Kai slaps the shadowy figure who was invisible. The kid becomes visible again, and jumps back.

Kid: How did you know I was there?

Kai: I could hear your heartbeat.

Kid: How?!

Kai: I was trained by a man named Stick. He taught me and a friend how. Now, how old are you?

Kid: I'm fourteen years old.

Kai: Name?

Kid: What's yours?

Kai: Call me…

Kai(in head): Name-name-name.

Kai: Call me The Dragon.

Kid: Then call me Arachno!

Kai: Shhh. If your name is Arachno then you must have spider powers, and if you're 14 then you were on the bus. The reason why I'm here is that the man that lives here takes in children with powers. He wants to do tests on them, and experiment with them. Why are you here?

Arachno: I have my own business.

Kai: If it's not with this guy then get out.

Arachno: It wasn't, but now it is.

Kai: Ugh, fine. It will be a lot easier with you helping any way.

Arachno and Kai sneak around the building until they find the kids from yesterday in pods. Then all of a sudden they hear a voice from behind them.

The Chemist: So you have found me, and you brought a friend. Should I say, another test subject.

Kai and Arachno get in a fighting position.

The Chemist: You're in my territory now!

The chemist flips down his goggles. Then takes out a remote control. He presses a button, and a mechanical soldier comes out. The mechanical soldier is as tall as Lefty and Righty.

The Chemist: You're lucky! I just stole this the other day! You may call my child Behemoth!

The giant soldier looks at Arachno. It scans him and sees nothing. Then it scans Kai.

Behemoth: Mutant! Must be exterminated!

The Chemist: Oh, it looks like one of you is a mutant! That's great because it's made for taking down mutants!

Arachno: What's a mutant?

Kai: Is that really the question you're going to ask?

The Giant robot slams down. Arachno and Kai jump back.

Kai: Oh, so you're fast!

Arachno: I like to think I am!

Kai: Alright then, lets confuse it.

Kai and Arachno start running around the thing. Behemoth starts shooting lasers out of its eyes to try and hit one of them. As the laser was about to hit Kai, Arachno jumped up and punched Behemoth in the face. As arachno was falling Behemoth grabbed Arachno's leg, and threw him. Kai caught Arachno, and put him back on his feet. Then they both start circling around the robot. Kai hits the robot's leg with his staff. The robot's leg was so damaged that it dropped to its knee. The leg started sparking. Then Arachno punched Behemoth in the face again. Behemoth grabbed Kai and Arachno, and started slamming them on the ground. Then it threw them into a wall. The robot got back up, and walked over to them. Then it held its arms above its head. Then as its arms started dropping like heavy hammers they just fell to its side. Kai had stabbed his staff through the robot when it was trying to attack them. The robot falls over. Then Kai and Arachno get back up.

Kai: So, you're ready to fight us Chemist!

Chemist is sitting on a box. He seemed bored.

The Chemist: I thought that robot was gonna be way cooler. I guess that's why blade makes a ton of them. I guess they aren't supposed to work alone, but I work fine alone.

The Chemist presses another button on his controller, and ten mounted turrets come out of the walls. They all point at Kai and Arachno.

Kai: I have no idea how we are gonna get out of this one.

Arachno: Hmm, I've got an idea.

Chemist: Don't move.

Arachno: Sorry to say this, but I'm faster than a bullet.

Arachno jumps onto a turret, and aims the turret at another turret. He keeps jumping around until all of the turrets destroy each other. Then he hops back down.

Kai: That was actually pretty smart.

Arachno: Thank you.

The Chemist looks frustrated now, and presses another button on his controller. He then puts on a mask.

The Chemist: Now breath in my toxic fumes, and why don't you die while your at it!

All the exits lock down.

Kai: Don't break in arachno!

Kai runs up to the chemist.

The Chemist: I think my regular guns can stall enough time.

Kai: The thing about me is I can't die from those types of things.

The Chemist: But the tranquilizer dart affected you.

Kai: If something doesn't specifically harm my body then my body won't stop it. Tranquilizers don't last as long for me though.

Kai takes out his staff, and slams The Chemists head. The Chemist is knocked out, and Kai presses the button to turn off the gas, and to open up the doors. Arachno runs out of the room as fast as he can, and Kai opens up the windows. After all the gas is gone Kai breaks the kids out of the pod imprisonment.

Kid6: I don't know how we'll ever repay you.

Kai: Go home, and stay safe. I don't know what the government is going to do so all you can do until then is stay low. Absolutely don't use your powers unless you need to protect yourself. You don't want a war with the government.

Kid6: Thank you.

The six kids all leave, and Kai ties up The Chemist. Kai calls the cops and leaves so that the cops can handle it. Later Kai and Arachno are sitting at a restaurant eating food.

Kai: Mind telling me your name now?

Arachno: You can call me Leo. Mind telling me yours?

Kai: The names Kai, and here.

Kai gives Leo his phone number.

Kai: If you ever get in trouble. It seems like you don't have anyone to back you up. So if you ever think that you can't do something alone, call me. Everyone needs help sometimes.

Leo: Why are you being so nice?

Kai: because if these kids think that everyone is out to get them then this is going to become a catastrophe.

Leo: How?

Kai: If the kids feel like no one will help them, and the government is trying to put them in prison they are going to rebel. Then they are going to start fighting the government, and how do you think a war between the government and six thousand superpowered kids is going to go?

Leo:…

Kai: Bloody! It's going to be bloody.

Leo: Then I'll help stop it! I am one of the kids.

Kai: By yourself?

Leo: No, I'm going to get a team. I'm going to have friends to help me.

Kai fist bumps Leo, and gives him five hundred dollars.

Kai: I gotta go, but here. Take the one hundred. Pay for the meal, and whatever else you need. Just make sure you don't become an enemy.

Leo: To the government?

Kai: To the people.

Kai leaves.

Leo: He's really smart.

Kai starts walking home.

Kai(in head): Ah, I hate having to deal with kids. You have to actually be serious. I can't just make jokes.

Kai goes home, and goes to bed. When he wakes he realizes that he needs to get his shit together, and get some more money. Kai dresses up in superhero clothes, and goes to the police department.

Kai: You got any 60K bounties.

Worker: Well, the question is. Are you willing to look far and wide?

Kai: How long, and where.

Worker: Outskirts of texas, and one year.

Kai: Well, thats a 60K salary so I'll take it!

Worker: Well okay, but this is in a more old western type of town.

Kai: Are you telling me that I should dress up like a cowboy?

Worker: It would be more socially acceptable.

Kai: It's gotta be the same color as my regular outfit.

Worker: Right this way. We'll even pay for your flight!
