Parents, agony and dangers
AJ drove at the speed of light. Running every red light, stop sign, yield and everything in his way. Never in his 18 years of existence has Luke felt as afraid as he did now. AJ saw this in fact he was scared for Marie's life as well. During these past few months, AJ had watched over her like Shadow wished and it worries him that she could be in danger right now. AJ cared for Marie and he feels responsible for her current situation.
Shadow Cat felt overwhelmed. Never had he loved before, never had he cared for someone like he did now, never had he wanted to be good like he felt when he was with her, never had he experience heartbreak like a few minutes ago reading the letter, and never had anyone gotten close to taking someone he loved away from him. Not until now.
Shadow Cat had never felt fear before and the feeling overwhelmed him. For the first time ever, he was feeling scared. Now he felt what it was like to be scared, terrified, and truly horrified only he was not scared for himself. He was not one to fear death. In his line of work he learned to always welcome death, "When it happens it will happen" he always told himself but this time it was different. For the first time he feared death, this time he couldn't sit by and let it happen. He had to stop death itself. He had to save Marie.
"Please be safe, please be safe" were the only words that repeated over and over again in his head. Shadow didn't care about the letter, he didn't care if she would leave him forever, and he didn't care about anything but her safety. Now he couldn't lie and say that the letter didn't destroy him and shattered his heart but he wouldn't let that stop him from saving their lives. That's right their lives. The love of his life was carrying his child and now they were both in danger all because of him.
Shadow Cat clenched his fists at the thought making his knuckles turn white. He should have never allowed her to get out of the car. He should have stopped her like she wanted him to. He should have ran away with her somewhere they wouldn't be in danger. There were many things he could have done different but instead he fucked up. Deep inside Shadow hoped that she wrote the words out of anger. He hoped that she didn't mean any of them and most importantly he hoped he could still get there in time.
Frustrated Shadow slammed his hands on the dash and yelled "Fuck! How could I have been so stupid?" AJ remained silent him too hoping that they were still on time to do something. After all, not because Michael said they were coming means that it would be tonight right? Soon after the car slowed down.
Not waiting for the car to come to a complete stop Shadow Cat jumped out of the car and ran towards Marie's house. At this point he wasn't thinking clearly, he didn't think to remove his mask, but he didn't care who saw him, he didn't care if he was on disguise or not and he didn't care if he was a wanted criminal. All he cared about was his princess and their safety.
Shadow Cat could have sneaked in and receive no attention but his fear clouded his better judgment. Not even seconds after jumping out of the car he reached the door and began to pound hardly on it. Ignoring the fearful screams of people around him he pounded harder.
For a second Shadow looked at the civilians confuse on why they were running for their lives, for a second he had forgotten he wore his mask that was until he heard his name. Oh, that's right I am still Shadow Cat he thought but he didn't care. Growing anxious and ready to kick the door in Shadow banged on the door harder making it sound ten times louder.
Right that second the door opened. Before a scared Mr. Flores could react, Shadow Cat shoved him out of the way and made his way inside the house. "Where is she?" he asked worriedly. His heart thumped, his hands shook, and his eyes scanned the entire room as he looked for his princess. He paced back and forth before yelling again "I asked where the hell is, she?" at this point he was feeling frustrated with the man before him.
Mr. Flores stood frozen; he was petrified. In front of him stood Canada's most wanted assassin and once again he wanted his daughter. But why? He left her alone and pregnant, he didn't care why was he looking for her did she do something? Mr. Flores's silence infuriated Shadow. This was not the time to be patient Marie was in danger and the only man who could help him find her stood in front of him in silence.
Before Mr. Flores could speak a word, Shadow Cat pulled out a gun and pointed it at his face. "I don't want to do this but I will. Now I won't ask you again where is Marie?" Shadow spoke in a low but angry voice.
"She is not here" a woman said sternly from behind him. Mrs. Flores had expected Shadow would eventually arrive but she would not allow him to get near her daughter again. She had been ready as had her arms behind her back her hands holding a gun. This man had hurt her daughter in more ways than her daughter would admit to say and she would get her revenge. She held the gun tighter ready to make a move.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you" a man's voice came up from behind her quickly grabbing the gun and pushing her towards her husband. Unlike Shadow, AJ had spoken once or twice with Mrs. Flores and he knew she was one to make a move. He waited for her and like he thought she was quick to try to make a move. "Now my friend here asked where is Marie and it will be best if you answer the question." AJ continued.
"It's you! We trusted you" Mrs. Flores said angrily. "And you have no reason not to" AJ responded. Shadow had heard enough he wanted to find his princess and he knew time was running out. "Where is she? Please tell me" Shadow asked this time sounding more concern but Mrs. Flores wouldn't budge. "Why should we tell you? You kidnapped her, most likely raped her, and then left her alone and pregnant.
She was depressed for months because of you. So why should we tell you anything?" She asked angrily. Shadow couldn't take it anymore "God damn it she is in danger where is she?" he yelled; he was slowly losing control.
The couple's eyes widened as shadow spoke. Showing he meant it Shadow put his gun down. "Please tell me" he spoke softly. "On a date, Marie is on a date please don't hurt her" Mr. Flores spoke in fear tears falling down his face. He was worried for his baby girl.
A date? It was true no it can't be, Shadow thought to himself. "Hurt her? I Love her why would I hurt her. If I wanted to hurt her, I would have never asked her to marry me. I love her and I am here to save her life" Shadow growled irritated at his comment, how could he think he was here to hurt her? Marie's parents stood there dumbfounded after hearing the criminal's response. They were not sure what to believe. Their daughter had told them she had fallen in love with him but was he in love with her?
Shadow stood there staring at them angrily but not only that. Shadow was hurt. The letter had been real. She had moved on. "A date? How could she do this to me? How could she do it knowing what she meant to me?" he was truly hurt this time as for the second time tonight he felt his heart shatter in a million pieces. Shadow mumbled to himself while pacing back and forth. AJ saw this and needed to calm him down before things took a thing for the worst "Relax man just breath I am sure there is more to this than we know."
But Shadow didn't calm down. In fact, more and more thoughts clouded his brain making him angrier. "They thought I would hurt her? Why would I hurt the love of my life? Why did they think that? Did she not tell them about me, about the gift, the ring, the pictures, the promise I made and that I loved her? Why didn't she tell them we wanted to start a life in America together?" Shadow Cat was now really angry but no longer at the situation but at Marie.
