A tragedy

It all happened so fast. Luke had no time to react. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes but the impact never came instead he felt like he was suddenly pulled making him lose his footing and drop to the ground. He opened his eyes but only to be met with an even worse outcome than before. His worst nightmare had come to life. On top of him laid the love of his life, blood everywhere, shot. The bullet that was meant for him had gotten her. She had taken the bullet for him.

His heart shattered, in a blink of an eye her world had ended and it was all caused by the man he once called father. Luke pushed himself up and held Marie in his arms pulling her close to his chest. He screamed and sobbed like a baby while holding the woman he loved tightly. "Marie!!" He screamed "No, no, no please wake up. Don't leave me. I love you please wake up."

Chris stood there paralyzed not because the outcome had surprised him but because he was stopped by a sharp sting coming from his stomach. He looked down to see a knife that had me launched into his stomach.

Upon a closer look, he noticed it was not just any knife, it was his very own knife. He dug his hand in his pocket trying to feel for his knife but it was missing. He then remembers Marie holding on to his leg while begging to be allowed to say goodbye. She had taken his knife. She was the one who threw his own knife at him stabbing him in his stomach.

As Marie saw Chris place his finger on the trigger she reacted. Throwing the knife and doing a turn pulling Luke behind her as she received the hit and saved his life. Chris was angered as he noticed the audacity of this girl. He had to hand it to her not only was she brave but had loved his son enough to give her life for his but that was not enough. He still despised her existence and his son was dead to him. Yes, she had wounded him but she did not kill him.

Luke kept sobbing as he held onto his princess's body. He felt her gasp for air and he quickly looked at her. Her breathing quickened it was clear she was taking her last breaths. "Stay with me princess, don't leave me. Open your eyes baby look at me. You promised to be my princess forever." He begged her to wake up and open her eyes and Marie heard him. She fought to open her eyes but only so that she could tell him the words one last time before she allowed herself to sleep forever.

Using the last of her strength Marie lifted her arm to caress his cheek and forced herself to speak. "Luke I-I l-love yo-you." Her voice was but a bear whisper but Luke heard her. Before he had a chance to reply Marie's hand dropped, her eyes closing as her body goes limp.

"No-no-no-no Marie please wake up. Wake up princess, don't leave me. Baby wake up please." Luke cried still holding her cold body. Meanwhile, Chris began to remove the knife from his stomach and glared at Luke with hate. "Ahhh" he screamed as he removed the knife completely. He then proceeded to once again point the knife at Luke. His screams earned Luke's attention. He looked up to see the man he once called father aiming to shoot at him again.

Luke stared at him in anger and then back at his dead lover. He no longer cared. He wanted to die with her. He wanted to leave with her, there was no life for him here without her. Luke held Marie closer doing nothing to even attempt an escape. Holding his lover tightly he placed a gentle kiss on her lips. "Together forever princess," he whispered preparing for impact. He could finally be with his princess. No more fears, no more problems, and no more lies. Just him and her together for eternity. In the afterlife.

*BANG, BANG, BANG* Three shots were heard all around the room. In one second it had all come to an end.
