19 Chapter 19: First Victory

My team went to the resting spot. Soon we were passed bottles by Team A and we sat down to rest a bit. Soon Virat approached me.

"Dude, that was an intense first inning! I can't believe the opposing team only scored 124 runs! And you, you took 4 wickets and gave only 6 runs in three overs," said Virat.

I replied, "I know, right? It was a great effort by our bowlers. I was just fortunate enough to take four wickets."

Virat was impressed by Vipin's bowling. "You were on fire out there! I was cheering for you from the stands. I couldn't believe some of the deliveries you were making," he said.

I remained humble, "Thanks, man. I just tried to stay focused and execute my deliveries well. I couldn't have done it without the support of my teammates."

The game was intense and Virat felt the tension when Vikas Nayak was hitting huge sixes. "I was feeling the tension when Vikas was hitting huge sixes. I thought the game was slipping out of our grasp but you snatched it back"

I replied, "Yeah, it was a tough moment but I just kept my head down and tried to stick to my plan. I'm just grateful that it worked out."

Despite the tension, the team was in a good position to win. "And we're in a good position to win. We just need to score 125 runs in 20 overs. We can do this!" said Virat.

I agreed, "Yeah, we got this. We just need to stay focused and play smart. Let's give it our all and make our team proud."

The coach praised the team's effort, "Great job, team! You all played an outstanding first inning. And Vipin, that was some incredible bowling. I knew you had it in you. Never doubted you for a second," said the coach.

I thanked the coach, "Thanks, coach. I really appreciate your belief in me. I couldn't have done it without the support of my teammates."

The team mates also praised my performance, "Yeah, Vipin you were on fire out there. That last over was epic," said the captain.

Sachin added, "Absolutely. And let's keep this momentum going and bring home the win."

I was determined to win the game, "Yeah, let's do this. Let's make the most of this opportunity and play our best game".

The match between West Delhi Team A and Eagles B was in full swing. The first innings had ended and it was now our team's turn to bat.

Soon the umpires called in both captains to start the second innings. Rahul Sharma and Sunil Gupta, both right-handed batsmen from our team, went out to play. Soon the inning started.

The Eagles' bowling was just average but with their exceptional fielding, scoring runs was not as easy as we thought. First two overs only fetched 14 runs.

"Come on! Let's pick up the pace," shouted Sharma as he walked back to the striking position.

Soon our batsmen started taking risks and scored massive runs in the powerplay. After 6 overs we scored 58 runs. Now the required run rate was only 4.79.

The match was in our grasp. After the power play, the fielders spread out, but things changed after the power play when we lost Rahul Sharma in a run out. A direct hit.

"Dammit! We can't afford to lose another wicket," shouted Gupta as went back to the striking side.

In the twelfth over, we lost our another opener Sunil Gupta but our score was 93. Required run rate was only four runs per over.

Now our captain Amit Jain and Suresh Sharma were batting steadily. Rotating strikes and defending.

As Jain and Sharma stepped on the crease, we could see the determination in their eyes. They knew that they had to keep the score moving and not give the Eagles a chance to make a comeback.

The Eagles bowler bowled the first ball, a fast one, but Jain was able to defend it well. The second ball was a slower one, and Jain took advantage, hitting it for a boundary.

"Nicely played, Captain!" shouted Sharma from the other side.

The next few overs were tense as Jain and Sharma tried to maintain their focus. They knew that one mistake could cost us the game. The bowlers tried to put pressure on them, but Jain and Sharam were able to keep their cool.

They rotated strikes and defended well, taking the score to 93 runs. The required run rate was only four runs per over.

"We are so close, guys! Just a little more push, and we'll win this!" shouted Jain, trying to keep the spirits up.

The Eagles' bowler bowled the next ball, but Jain was able to hit it for a six. The crowd erupted in cheers as the team's spirits rose.

"Come on, Captain! Let's finish this!" shouted Sharma.

Jain and Sharma kept the pressure on and were able to score the remaining runs needed to win the game in the 19th over.

"We did it! We won!" shouted Sharma, pumping his fist in the air.

The team rushed onto the field, congratulating each other and celebrating the hard-fought victory. It was a moment of pure joy and elation as they knew they had achieved something great together. Coach congratulated us and soon the award ceremony started. I was awarded the man of the match as I bowled the best. I was in high spirits.

As I walked up to the stage to receive the award, I could feel my heart pounding with excitement. The presenter handed me the trophy and said, "Congratulations, you truly deserve this award for your exceptional performance today."

"Thank you so much," I replied, trying to hold back my tears of joy. "This means the world to me. I couldn't have done it without the support of my team and coach."

The crowd erupted in cheers and applause as I held the trophy high above my head. I felt a sense of accomplishment wash over me, knowing that all of the hard work and dedication had paid off. This was a moment I would never forget, a moment that would stay with me forever.

"Thanks to my teammates, who always believed in me, and my coach, who always pushed me to be better," I said, looking at the crowd.

The crowd cheered even louder, and I felt like I was on top of the world. I knew that this was just the beginning, and that there were more victories to come. But for now, I was going to savour this moment and enjoy the sweet taste of victory.

Soon the match between West Delhi Team A vs Eagles B started and I was ready to cheer for Virat and his team.
