5 The first battle

Rue caught the dagger mid-air and immediately sliced the wolf, who jumped towards her to attack her.

"Oh, this is sharp., I'll keep it." She exclaimed and continued her fight.

And this marks the day when I gave away one of the weapons I made when bored carelessly.

Rue was fighting with passion, with too much passion from my perspective, but at least she seemed to get affected by the dagger and was getting calmer with every slice.

I also was fighting the wolves, but I was using normal magic rather than existence erasure. Although they were still dying after two of my attacks.

Actually, it was one attack. The first one was to use the vines to immobilize them and then kill them with ice spikes.

Simple as that. Though Rue was still holding fine after all those wolves she had slain.

Well, at least she was calmer.

Aaah, why can't she be like that all the time? It's really better and more convenient for me. And now that she has the seed of Luminary, I have to carry her with me.

But if she remains as annoying as she is now, I don't mind at all leaving her behind.

As I was thinking all that, a wolf initiated an attack on me, but it couldn't even come close enough, as I killed it immediately.

Damn, I think that with my mana I can use those ice spikes as a minigun. Actually, should I try it… no, never mind, that would be too powerful for the occasion. I'll just stick with the single shots.

[Master, the one controlling the monsters is near.] I heard Pod's voice in my head.

Alright, I know exactly how to make them reveal their position.

Although it would pull the attention of the goddess of death, it's for a good purpose. I just hope that she won't be too pissed about coming here to find me.

"Well, wolves, it seems that your death is inevitable," I said and snapped my fingers.

Suddenly, all the wolves stopped moving and started slowly turning into dust.

I saw Rue looking around her to understand what just happened as her dagger passed through the dust which was once a wolf and as soon as her gaze fell towards me, she started walking towards me with a wild look.

"What the fuck did you do?" she looked confused,

"I wasn't the one who did it." I claim innocence.

"Don't try to play it innocent to me. You're the only person here except for me who can fight." She shook my shoulders hard.

"If you want to find out who was the one behind that attack, stop shaking me like crazy."

"What are you talking about? How do you know that there is someone behind all that?"

"Just trust me."

"Like I will."

"Oh, watch out, a wolf is coming here."

"Where?" she exclaimed and turned her head.

That's when I found the opportunity to slip from her grasp and teleport behind her.

"Huh? You little…" she said upon turning her head again.

"Come on, follow me," I said and started running towards a forest outside the village.

"Stop right there, you bastard."

It seems that this is the best way to make someone as stubborn and stupid as she follows you.

Well, as long as it works, we are fine.

We went into the forest and it didn't take long for us to find the guy. Actually, it's not 'us', it's me because I was the one who was trying to track him while Rue was just chasing me.

But I must say that it wasn't that hard to spot them. I mean, the guy was running through the forest wearing a red robe. Just how obvious can he make his location? It is like shouting, I am obviously here.

I caught him with the vines,

"Leave me, you weird-ass bastard!!" he shouted on the top of his shoulders as he struggled and I shouted,

"Just remain still if you love life… you low life!!" and hearing my shout, he shook once and cried,

"Who are you trying to scare!! I am strong, I am strong" has he gone mad? I wondered as he was struggling inbound while repeating that totally helpless and suddenly that happened,

"Come out all of you!!" and at his shout, a wolf come from his shadow followed by a pack and weird sorts of incisions appeared on the man's body turning into the mouths they consumed the veins looking totally gross they freed the man who proclaimed at me,

"I will kill you both!! Attack them!!" he shouted at them and the wolf began attacking us I couldn't use area effective magic or something too noticeable as Rue would notice, she was at the corner when I thought of an idea and smiled,

[Rue… can you hear me?] I spoke directly into her mind and she was shocked.

[What the fuck dude I am not hallucinating right!?] she asked back confused as she slashed a wolf's leg but it regrows shit, they seemed tenacious,

[You are not hallucinating… you have heard of telepathy, right?]

[You can do that!? Wasn't it a hero's special skill that only the hero party can use and that too requires party formation….] heck, she asks too many questions,

[Just do this and ask questions later...…..] I explained to her my plan and started fighting wolves one-on-one, beating them to the floor using excessively flashy moves, but acting as if I am losing to pull his attention,

"Just when?" these were his last words as he falls to the floor beheaded,

"didn't I tell you not to kill him!!" I complained when Rue came near me and with sadness on her face said,

"He killed my people!!"

"And more will come now that we don't know where he came from" I frowned and she said with a bright smile,

"Can we not just be happy for the victory and went back to the town" I nodded as we began to step back, and pod spoke in my mind

"What were you imagining either way!?" and she just awkwardly rubbed the back of her head and I asked pod

"I was just thinking If I can keep these daggers of yours!! It fits well in my hand," she said and I accidentally blurted out,

"Yea keep it, I reforged the handle before throwing it to you" and I realized late what I just said casually because the dagger I gave her was an artifact a high dwarf will take more than a year to make properly with enchantment help and even a supreme Dwarf could not make these kinds of effects,

'If I show it to dad…'

"Who are you!?" she asked me, with eyes full of curiosity and I asked a question in reply,

"What am I?" and grinned, and she sighed,

"I gave up for now… but don't think I lose, I want to go back home and rest!!!!" she yawned,
