8 First companion

While Rue was fighting those guys I opened the cages and freed the captive dwarfs.

There were mostly men but there were also some women and kids they all were looking exhausted and many were hurt physically I saw something like branding done on their necks,

"Alright, I'm done here," Rue said as soon as she came close to me.

"Good, now let's take those people back to the village."

"I don't think they will be able to walk for long as they are now." She looked sad at the miserable state of her kin,

"They don't need to. Just gather everyone around me."

"Okay?"

I could see the disbelief she had in my abilities, but let's see what she will think after that.

As soon as Rue gathered everyone around me I cast a large area teleport spell an upgraded version of what I bestowed upon the hero and cultivators.

It was four circles long with inscriptions in between each circle.

As soon as it covered the area around us it started emitting a radiant light blue color and with a sudden dazzling shine, we found ourselves in the middle of the dward village.

"Eh, what? What just happened? How are we here?" Rue questioned, with a face of disbelief and shock,

"I cast just a simple teleportation spell," I replied with a sigh,

"That's not a simple spell at all. That's something only an archmage can do."

"Well, what can I say? I already told ya who am I." I snorted as her existence make me doubt my Godly shine,

"Please, stop with the jokes. There is no way you can be a God. A God is something that gives people hope, someone they can rely on, someone who will help them when they are in danger. And you are…you." She stuttered,

"What's that supposed to mean?"

But before Rue was ready to answer, the village chief came running towards us.

"You, you did all that?" He said out of breath.

"Um, yea, we saved them," I replied with a bright smile,

"Excuse me for a bit Mister Daichi but I want to have some words with my daughter."

"Oh, shit," Rue murmured.

"You, young lady. Who gave you permission to go and search for the whereabouts of the kidnapped dwarfs? Do you know how dangerous it was? How reckless? And you got yourself caught. If it wasn't for Mister Daichi I wouldn't be able to see you again."

"Dad, I know how to protect myself."

"You don't? If you knew you wouldn't have gotten caught."

"Humph." She frowned, they talked a bit more with varying expressions in the middle Rue tried to shout once but stopped as she stared at her father's face,

"Mister Daichi, I can't help you enough for what you have done for us. You helped this village and now you also rescued our kind. I'll be forever indebted to you." He said, turning to me.

"Ah, you don't need to be like that. I only did what anyone would do in my place it is my responsibility."

"As compensation, I can offer you, Rue, here. Although she isn't as strong as you she is pretty good at house chores." Chief said with a glint in his eyes,

"Oh?"

"Dad!!."

"She may be a bit aggressive and annoying but I promise you that she will be of use to you."

"Well, honestly I don't have a problem. It's completely up to Rue to decide." Yes, I am not doing this cause Pod is monotonous as hell and I would have any other being to be with,

[I can hear that] Pod said in my mind as we can share thoughts and I replied

[Did you think I intended to hide!?]

"I…um. I don't know." Rue was in deep thought,

"Okay, take your time to think about it and I'll come back tomorrow to get your answer."

"Ah, okay."

"See ya tomorrow," I said and teleported to the inn.

I looked around my room but the girl was nowhere to be seen.

Did she run away? But I told her to wait for me here. It didn't take long, right?

I decided to take a look around the rest of the inn and I spotted the girl standing behind the reception table.

I approached her and said, "So you did wait for me."

"Y-yes mister. What can I do for you?"

"How much do you want for me to stay here without getting kidnapped?"

"You don't need to pay anything, sir, it's free for you." She looked meek,

"Oh, come on. I'm not a bad person. I'll give you 50 copper coins for now."

"Are you sure about that mister?"

"Yes, yes, take them. I'm going to my room." She was shocked by my behavior but I need to shake her a bit to push her out of her current belief, as a God I was inherently empathetic with my creations,

Now with 50 copper coins minus I'm left with another 50. The money for the completion of the quest has decreased to such an extent. Tomorrow I'll have to get a new quest. And I'll probably have Rue tag along with me.

The next day I ate breakfast as usual which tasted awful cause for some reason I can't cook and teleported back to the dwarf village.

When I got there I saw Rue and her father standing in front of their house.

I approached them and asked, "Did something happen? Why are you standing like that?"

"Oh, mister Daichi, we were waiting for your arrival."

"So, will Rue come along with me?"

"Yes, I will. If I come with you I will probably become stronger and I'll be able to better protect the village and my kind." She said with resolve,

"Well, that's a good reason you got there. So, are you ready to departure?"

"Yes, let's go."

"Alright then. Cya chief." I said and initiated a teleport spell big enough to include both of us.

I teleported us back to my room and of course, Rue couldn't stay silent and not judge me.

"I thought that an archmage like you would have a bigger house. Not renting an inn. You don't make much money? Are you poor?"

"Shut the fuck up," I said pushing her away from me, as I repeated in my head if I want I can spawn endless money yes, yes.

"Uhh, that's mean." She pouted,

"I didn't take you with me to slack off."

"But I never said that I won't do anything." She rolled her eyes,

"Good, cause now we will take a quest from the guild. Get ready." Now I wonder where will these decisions and web of fate will take her cause as decided I have turned my Omnipotence off and will enjoy every second and minute of this adventure with this sky and earth witnessing it, but first

And I opened the door to find the girl standing there, it worked I smirked

"Yes, miss renter how are you doing today?" I asked,

"I…. I am…. I am sorrryyyy!!!" she began crying and I noticed that her eyes looked as if they lack sleep, not the perfect timing I thought as Rue came out,

"What is happening!? Why is she crying!?" she looked at me suspiciously and the girl shouted,

"It wasn't me, they taught me it….  I didn't want to be poor or left aside!! I didn't want to do it"

"Just what did you make this little girl do!!"  Rue looked at me with disgust and suspicion and pulled the knife out,

"Please mister take me in, I don't want to do it again!! Your gentleness made me realize and touched me deep within that I thought my decision over again!!" she was crying her dress shoulder slip and I doubted if she was aware of digging a grave for me or was actually just innocent, but either way

"You bastard!? And I judged you were a good person despite your behavior!! Take this" Rue was moving the knife towards me from all directions and the girl was just crying,

"don't do anything you will regret Rue" I warned dodging,

"This was what you needed to think before you laid your hand on this sweet young girl!!" she replied and the girl spoke,

"Take me, mister, I don't need much" You are not making it easier!! I tried dodging and finally I shouted,

"Just shut up you two!! You are causing a misunderstanding which will just stab my sanity!!"I complained and Rue finally settled as she said,

"I will be calm and listen but if it turns out what I think you better pray to actual god" but it is me!! I sighed and asked the girl,

"What happened? you seem completely changed?" she smiled a bit seeing Rue support this brat I wondered and finally we all moved into the room to talk calmly she and Rue sat on the bed while I occupied the chair,
