2 Rui Tears and the Attribute Panel

The scent was intoxicating – the first thought that struck Zhang Fan's mind. However, he quickly regained his composure, aware that the charming woman before him was none other than Sister Lei. He couldn't afford to leave a negative impression on her, lest all his efforts in the mission turn futile.

"Thank you for your concern, Sister Lei, but I believe in leaving such matters to fate," Zhang Fan said, deftly resisting Lei's allure. He sipped his coffee calmly and gazed out the window, an epitome of composure.

"Indeed, having just returned from the United States and taking care of Rui Tears must be quite the challenge for you," Lei replied, her tone laced with realization and a hint of admiration.

Now, to speak of the absurdity of this situation: in this mission, Rui Tears' role was simple – she was the sister Zhang Fan had adopted. In this world, they were orphans who had grown up depending solely on each other, a soap opera-esque setup that Zhang Fan never imagined he would find himself in.

Before the mission instance began, Zhang Fan had already met Rui Tears, who at that time was a picture of lost confusion. She had just become a freshman at Academy City's Shiragawa Middle School and, like Zhang Fan, found herself thrust into this game upon waking.

Their communication was brief before being transported to the first instance. As partners, it was crucial to dispel any mutual distrust. Zhang Fan, protective of this young girl barely thirteen, would never harm her. His harmless appearance played in his favor, winning Rui Tears' trust and earning him the affectionate title of 'Big Brother.' Surely, many of Rui Tears' fans would have been green with envy at this scene.

"So, as I was saying, Sister Tong, if you could offer us shelter, I would be eternally grateful," Zhang Fan said, glancing between Rui Tears and Sister Lei. Despite having 30,000 yen in his pocket, it was hardly enough for a month's rent.

"Really, Zhang Fan? Are things that tough for you now?" Lei asked in surprise, finding it hard to believe that such a promising young man recently returned from abroad was struggling with basic living.

"Truth be told, Sister Lei, I'm down to my last 30,000 yen. The lease for Rui Tears' apartment just expired, and if we don't find a place by tonight, we might end up on the streets," Zhang Fan replied, his voice tinged with worry. This elicited a mix of surprise and pity from Lei, while Rui Tears admired his quick adaptation to the role.

"Well, in that case, why don't you and Rui Tears stay with us for the time being? You can help out in the café if you can't find a job. We could use the extra hands," Lei offered, perhaps driven by maternal instincts.

"Really? I can't thank you enough, Sister Lei," Zhang Fan replied, his expression a blend of relief and gratitude. Lei offered a comforting word before returning to the café's counter.

"Is this okay, big sister?" Tong asked from behind the counter, a mix of nervousness, anticipation, confusion, and delight in her eyes. Zhang Fan's arrival was a welcome one, despite the complexities of their real identities beyond running an ordinary café.

"If we get found out, we could just recruit Zhang Fan. I think that aligns with your wishes too," Lei playfully winked at Tong, seemingly unbothered by the situation.

Soon, Zhang Fan and Rui Tears officially moved into the Cat's Eye Café. Due to various reasons, their combined belongings amounted to nothing more than a large suitcase, mostly filled with Rui Tears' school textbooks and lacking in daily necessities.

"Big brother, you're amazing! To have found us a place to stay so quickly. I thought we would be sleeping on the streets," Rui Tears exclaimed, her mood uplifted as she explored her new room. Initially quiet and reserved due to the new environment, she quickly reverted to her lively and cheerful self as she grew more comfortable with Zhang Fan.

"It was just luck. Anyway, let's take a good look at our attribute panels. They're crucial for us," Zhang Fan said with a slight smile, opening his attribute panel.

Name: Zhang Fan

Race: Human

Rank: Junior Servant of God

Talents: Infinite Upgrade, Infinite Contract

Skills: None

Equipment: None

Game Points: 0

His attribute panel was as simple as it could be – no skills, no equipment, and zero game points. Only his talents offered some solace.

The language proficiency gifted by the system before the instance began must be a hidden passive skill, not even qualifying as an official skill. Despite its utility – Zhang Fan was now fluent in multiple languages – it felt slightly underwhelming.

The talents, however, were a different story. Infinite Upgrade meant the ability to upgrade anything, including himself – from bloodline skills, weapons, items, to even Zhang Fan himself. Even a teacup in his hands could be upgraded, provided he had enough game points or found alternative ways to level up.

Infinite Contract allowed unrestricted contracting of beings as his divine servants, though it was limited to females. This meant Zhang Fan could only form his own army of female warriors.

Moreover, this talent had an additional benefit: once Zhang Fan formed a contract, he would gain a portion of the servant's abilities, which could be skills, bloodlines, or even their strength and agility. However, much depended on Zhang Fan's luck.
