Chapter 12

Darien had arrived.

The noises of the people quieted instantly as all eyes were trained on the man who dropped from the sky like a comet.

"My instincts were screaming at me that something was wrong, so I notified Darien to come as soon as he could. Thankfully I trusted my instincts." Leopold said.

"Darien?" Isran asked with relief visible on his face.

"In the flesh." Darien nodded. "Thankfully I made it in time. Good instincts Leopold." Then he turned to Leopold who was watching the scene calmly.

"Being a Witcher has its perks too." Leopold said.

"Indeed it does. Now if you'll excuse me." Darien said as he down onto the battlefield right before the Tyrant. "I don't know for what purpose you are here for and I couldn't care less." He said as he drew Dawnbreaker from its sheath. The sword shone like the sun as the skeletons instinctively took a step back. "You will go no further." Then he declared.

{Puny mortal, who do you think you are in my presence?} the Tyrant replied with a raspy voice that sent shivers down everyone's spine.

They stared down each other as the battle erupted instantly. Sparks flew by but no one could see their figures. All they could see was two forces colliding, one dark and the other light, and leaving devastation wherever they go.

No one dared to approach even one step closer to the two monsters. But Max was anxious.

"Wow!"

"Look at that!"

"Fucking awesome dude!"

"Go Darien!"

Because the players were watching Darien with stars in their eyes. 'Darien, I'm grateful that you came to save our asses but you are stealing all my thunder bastard! My reputation among the leek-*ahem the players is dropping!' He watched both the fight and the players anxiously as he was unsure of what he was going to do.

'Should I take the risk or should I play it safe in the cozy Fort away from the fight? But that way the players may not be interested in me any longer. I will be just like a normal quest giver NPC!' He thought hard. He weighted the cons and pros of what he was planning to do and decided to bite the bullet. 'Gah fuck it! They are far enough from us and I have to trust Darien that he will be able hold that guy off. Nothing ventured nothing gained!'

Then he jumped on top of the walls as he raised his right palm up. Blue sparks flew everywhere from his palm. When he noticed that he got everyone's attention, he took a deep breath, "Unlimited Blade Works!" He shouted with all his might so that all the players could hear him.

An illusionary fire erupted from the boundaries of the Phantasm followed by a blinding flash that forced everyone to close their eyes.

When they opened their eyes once more, the Fort had disappeared as a grassland that was bathed in twilight with gyrating gears in the distance appeared in their vision.

But what drew their attentions more was the swords that ranged from thousands, perhaps a countless number of swords, that were anchored in the ground like grave markers.

"What?!"

"Holy shit!"

Both the people in the Fort and the skeleton army was pulled into this different world. Darien and the Tyrant continued their battle without minding whether the scenery changed or not.

Max smartly cleared any swords that were in their surrounding so as not to be burdened from broken projections after he dismisses the Phantasm.

After people got out of their shock, their eyes were trained on Max once more.

Then Max, who was the only one standing on top of a hill, with exaggerated moves, summoned his new swords in his both hands, Kanshou and Bakuya appeared without any fanfare.

He prepared himself for what he was about to do as he ordered hundreds of enchanted swords, daggers, axes, hammers, arrows, he recorded from the undead hunters, and willed them to fire upon the skeleton army.

The skeletons disintegrated once they were touched with the holy weapons and cleared enough room for Max to jump in and he took it with relish.

He jumped amidst the skeletons just like how Darien appeared in the fort and started hacking and slashing the undead creatures.

'Holy shit. These swords are better than I thought!' Kanshou and Bakuya cut through their shields and armors like hot knife through butter.

He was unstoppable. He slashed any skeleton in his vision in two, and fired enchanted blades on the ones he couldn't see through vision. He could feel every being that stepped a foot in this land.

After Isran and the undead hunters got out of their stupor, they charged on the skeletons too.

Then players took this chance as they charged too. Some tried to pick up the weapons stuck on the ground and realized that it was futile as they didn't even budge no matter how hard they tried, they gave up and made do with what they had in hand.

Meanwhile, Leopold and the rest in his company had already started attacking once Max jumped into the fray.

They were familiar with this ability of Max as he showed it to them previously, so they were not amazed as much. But they were worried about Max since they knew that he would pay a huge price after the area was dismissed.

So, they tried to kill as much as they kill to reduce the amount of weapons Max had to fire.

Same thing worried Max a lot too, but after he fired the first volley of weapons, he noticed that the skeletons disintegrated with a simple touch, so he dismissed them before they could touch the ground. And that way they didn't break.

The only weapons he had to worry about were the two swords in his hands but they were doing so well that he didn't even think that they would break.

"Wohoo! This is so fun!"

"Yeah! Much better than before!"

The players started having fun in the battlefield once more as the skeletons started thinning until they were killed to the last as the hunters heaved a sigh of relief and felt grief after remembering the huge sacrifices they had to make against the Tyrant.

Max stooped to take a breather as he was right in the middle of the skeletons all this time until they were annihilated.

Then he turned his sight towards the ongoing fight between the Tyrant and Darien.

And as if they were waiting for this moment, they stopped their fight as they looked at each other.

"Let's finish this shall we?" Darien said as he gripped Dawnbreaker tightly and brought it above his head.
