5 Ch5.New Body

Not long after I died, I abruptly opened my eyes 'Huh? I thought I just died.' I looked around to try and figure out what is going on. As I start moving there is something very strange 'Why is everything smaller all of a sudden?'.

I try to look down to check my wounds, that is when it hits me 'What!! I'm no longer a squirrel!!' I seem to be what I can only assume to be a boar, I have small tusks coming out of the side of my mouth, with a long nose and now I have to walk on 4 legs. 'This is weird…' I think to myself as I move around quickly adapting to my new body.

I am no longer in the same place I was when I died previously, but I seem to be in the same forest. I am located near a small stream and as I take in my surroundings there seem to be a few broken arrows lying next to me covered in blood. 'Well, now that is odd, one second I am a Squirrel and the next I am a Boar that I can only assume has just been killed by hunters… '.

'Wait HUNTERS!! SHIT!! I better get away fast before I end up dying again..' I think as I start darting away over the stream and through some bushes as I desperately look for a place to hide and catch my thoughts. As I start digging a hole in the middle of some thick thorn bush to hide myself in, I start to analyse my situation.

Ok so I am Immortal, but it seems that my immortality works a bit different than what I would have thought. So when I die, I seem to take over the body of a recently dead creature.. 'Now I can work with this'. There are a few things I will need to figure out, firstly, what is the minimum and maximum distance between my original body and the one I take over.

When I take over a new body, I seem to be healed of whatever killed it, but Is there a limit to this healing factor. Will I be healed If the cause of death is Poison, decapitation, disease, old age etc.. These are things I will need to figure out. If I can get enough information maybe I can choose what body I can take over.

I need to know whether I can only take over an animal's body, or if I can take over anything. This is super important as I don't really want to spend eternity as a bunch of different animals.

I need to figure out if there are any conditions that need to be met for me to take over a body, like gender. I really don't want to be forced to take over a female's body, it would just be super weird to have to constantly have to change genders. I seem to be male at the moment but I will need to do a few tests to gain a better understanding of this.

And the last thing I can currently think of is what I bring over to each new body. I have noticed that I have been able to adapt to both the Squirrel and Boars body really fast, even though I should have no idea how to even maneuver in a body that is vastly different to a human. From what I can understand I gain a basic instinct that every animal should have.

I don't seem to gain any memories when I transfer bodies, there are positives and negatives with this. The Positives being that there is no risk of me losing myself in a sea of different memories and eventually becoming a crazy person having the memories of hundreds of people/animals. 'Now that would be insane!!'.

The Negatives are obviously that I don't have a cheat to gain any of this world's knowledge. It would be great to just take over the body of an old OP person who is on their deathbed, and gain their lifetimes worth of knowledge.

After I have finished creating a plan of action that I will need to complete, I leave the hole I have dug out and slowly edge out of the thorn bush to see if there is anyone or anything around. I don't see anything so I slowly walk around as I chew on some grass, 'Eww this tastes so bad! But I am really hungry.' This may be a side effect of gaining a new body, my body seems to crave nutrition to fill the void of death, more investigation will be needed.

As I was wandering around, I started to hear a group of noises coming from a certain direction, I turned my attention to the noises only to find a group of humans carrying spears and Bows. 'Shit!' I internally scream as I start darting off back to my little hole.

The Hunters took notice of me and started to run after me while saying some incomprehensible words "asdyevel losidy per oiuhsa!" as I turned my head back to see if I am getting away, I noticed something strange happen to one of the hunters with a Bow.

He started to glow in a soft yellow light, as he readied his bow and arrow all that glowing yellow light started to slowly gather towards his arrow. I internally screamed 'What the Fuck is that!!' I seem to be in a fantasy world with some sort of energy based power.

The Hunter released the arrow, it came shooting towards me like a flaming rocket, just before it hit me, the only thing on my mind was 'Fuck I'm going to Die again!!'.
