Intern at Living Tech

"Tina I think I am over dressed. No one's gonna look like this." Nora said looking at herself in the mirror. She was in a pair of black fitted trousers and a white chiffon blouse with a V-neck with black block heels, her hair were up in a ponytail. Tina insisted on putting on make up for her, but she strictly refused. "I'm sure, I'm going to fall at least once wearing these heels." She turned around.

"No you are not. You look beautiful. Have confidence in yourself. You're practically starting to earn for yourself, be proud. And show them what Nora Williams is capable of." She patted her shoulders.

"But, I think I should change."

"Stop it. You're going to be late. Get going. You said Luke was going to drop you. Where is he?"

"He is here." Nora shrugged.

"So get the fuck out of here. Don't make him wait like that." Tina passed her a black sling bag and pushed her out of the door, "All the best."

Nora went down to the parking lot, she immediately saw Luke. He was leaning against his black SUV, dressed in dark jeans, a white t-shirt and a grey blazer. The sleeves were pulled up just beneath his elbows, his muscular forearms keeping them in place. His eyes lit up when he caught her sight. "Nora you look…" his words faltered.

"I knew it. I don't look good, I told Tina this was too much." She stomped her foot, losing her balance. Luke held her up, "Let me complete myself sweetheart. You look stunning." He lightly kissed on her lips.

"So I look fine?" She stepped back a little, giving him a view.

"Fine is an understatement. You are beautiful no matter what you wear." He shrugged. She blushed a little, his words always did that to her.

"So all ready for your first day?"

"Yes. Tina gave me a pep talk. And I am ready for it." She flung her fist in the air. "But just one problem. These heels are killing me, I don't think I'll be able to walk around the whole day wearing them."

"You're wearing heels?" He looked down at her feet, "but I don't see any difference. You're still small." He smirked.

"Hey. I am serious here." She snapped.

"If that's the case," He scooped her up in his arms and moved around to the passenger seat, "is this okay?"

"Helpful." She smiled and scrunched her nose, he kissed it.

Luke drove her to Eastern street but stopped at a walking distance from the building, "I can drive you all the way there." He shrugged.

"No." She shouted, startling herself, "It's just that I don't want anyone to have any wrong ideas." She added. He did not speak anything but looked at her intently. "Please don't be mad."

"I'm not mad." He smiled, "I get it. I felt that too at some point. Anyway you should get going or you'll be late." He said.

"Oh yes. I almost forgot that." She said but did not move from her seat but looked at Luke with a smile.

"What? You need anything?" He asked.

Her face dropped, "No. Bye." She opened the door and stepped out. She waved at him and then crossed the road.

Well that was embarrassing, rather she was just too embarrassed ask for it. She did expect a kiss from him. She really wanted him to be close to her, the way he smelled of amber and musk always fascinated her. It was soft but strangely enticing. But from the incident earlier, he's been keeping his distance, she could feel it and it's not what she wanted. But the fear always overpowered her and she stepped back. She turned to look around, the SUV was still parked at its spot. If he could step back for her sake, then she could take a step forward for his sake too.

She started back to the SUV. The door was unlocked, she swung it open and got in. Luke was looking at her with an amused expression, "Forgot something?"

Nora leaned towards him and pulled him by his blazer and pressed her lips against his. He smiled against her lips and then grabbed her waist and held her at the nape of her neck, taking over. Nora's grip at his blazer tightened when she felt his warmth in her mouth. The kiss was raw yet gentle and something she needed.

When he pulled back, she almost whimpered at the loss of his touch. "If you would?" He said smugly and looked down at her hands gripping his blazer. She let go immediately and straightened herself. "I love that about you," he smirked, she turned her head to him, "your flushed face. It's beautiful." He added, she looked away from him. He brushed his fingers on her neck, grabbing her attention, pressing soft kisses on her neck he whispered, "I love it when you act reckless. I love it when you show me that I belong to you. Most importantly I love it when you show that you need me too." He bit her earlobe softly.

She looked at him, he cupped her face, "I love every freaking thing about you. And fuck, I love you more than anything Nora. I know you don't like it when I keep my distance but baby that's the only way I can keep myself on track. Just having you around is painful enough for me. But don't worry I'll try harder, for you." He kissed her forehead. She looked in his blue sapphires and they spoke of nothing but sincerity, she was speechless, she just wrapped her arms around his neck and hugged him tightly, "I don't know what to say. You said you love me but I don't know how to reply. Everything happening is a first for me. I… I don't understand what I am supposed to do sometimes. And I don't even know if that's right…" she blurted out everything.

"Easy Nora. Easy. It's okay." He rubbed her back, "It's okay sweetheart, it's really okay. I don't expect you to reply so soon. I understand what you're going through. Don't worry, I am right beside you, I am always here for you. Okay?" Nora nodded and nuzzled further in his neck.

"Um, Nora, I think you really need to go." He said patting her head a while later.

"Not yet." She said.

"It's already eleven sweetheart." He smiled.

"What?!" She pulled herself and grabbed her bag, sliding it over her head and across her chest, "I am late on my first day. Fantastic." She turned to open the door, it was locked, "Open it Luke!"

"Not yet. I need something." He smiled.

"I don't have time for all of this." She snapped.

"But I have all day." He leaned leisurely in the seat. Nora sighed and then bending towards him, she kissed him on his nose, "Will this work?" He unlocked the door, "Have a good day little Nora." He smiled.

Nora reached the building panting, she knew she was late and Miranda would eat her alive. She went to the reception, "Nora Williams. Conference hall 5." She handed her an ID card, Nora was surprised to know she knew her name but she pushed aside everything and took the card, "Thank you?"

"Josephine. Watch out for Miranda though." She smiled.

"Okay. Thank you Josephine." She smiled and headed to the elevator. The conference halls were on the fifteenth floor, getting there she looked around for hall 5 which was just impossible to find. When she did, she hesitated a moment but entered.

The hall was huge, with beige walls and a wall with floor-to-ceiling windows. A huge white table had more than a dozen people sitting around it, all of theirs eyes on her.

"You are interrupting an important conference here and I hope your reason will be worth it?" A man got up from his seat.

"I'm sorry but I am also a part of this conference. I am Nora Williams, an intern here."

"Late on the first day?" He smirked, "quite impressive. You should leave right now. We don't allow employees who don't value time."

"But..."

"Please leave–" the man was cut off, he stepped to look at the man sitting behind him, supposedly the man who was heading the conference. It's then Nora noticed the man was Sheldon O'Connor. He stood up and stepped out of his chair. He was in a dark maroon suit which fit him perfectly, his blond hair styled elegantly. "Mr. Mathews, I think you are going a little too hard on our new employee."

"But sir," he continued.

"No more conversations. Miss Williams, I suppose you will not repeat this again?" Sheldon looked at him.

"Certainly." She nodded.

"Okay matter solved. Let's continue. Please take a seat." He gestured towards her.

She nodded and took the seat closest to her. Sheldon sat down in his seat and whispered something in the ear of the woman sitting beside him. She nodded and wrote something in her diary. He turned and caught Nora looking at him, he smiled at her. She greeted him back with a smile and then turned her attention to the meeting.
