The first encounter - II

Next day, Anna woke up with a heavy headache owing to the nightmares which tormented her throughout the night. She immediately called her secretary Mia to make the necessary arrangements for the meeting as she didn't want any loopholes from her side that could further delay the merger.

She did her morning routine and dressed up in an all white business suit which screamed nothing but elegance. She was covered from head to toe with her attire but it did not fail to accentuate her curves and defined her ravishing personality and aura. After Ashton's demise, she was never into dressing explicitly or pampering herself with the stuff that usually the girls of her age do. But she was definitely the one who could make numerous heads turn with just a single glimpse of her simplicity and elegant personality.

She indeed did some basic research on the Knights and realized that they were quite alike professionally and would not bear anything less than the best. She was just anxious about meeting Regan Knight who was encircled by numerous rumours of being a egocentric brute when it came to business. Regardless she was receptive and desirous in convincing him about their caliber and expertise.

Soon it was time for her to leave for the meeting. She was on her way when the sky started drizzling and the atmosphere became hazy. She was sitting at the backseat of her Maybach and going through the presentation files when she heard the screeching sound of the brakes and felt an unexpected jolt. She was in a daze for a moment but regained her composure to examine the situation. She immediately went out of her car and saw an old man lying on the street who was struggling to breathe. It was an accident which occurred a few minutes before her arrival that clogged up the roads and a massive crowd had already been accumulated at the accident spot. However the old man was not severely injured, he seemed to have a mild concussion. She straight away stepped forward to help him till the ambulance made its way to reach at the spot.

The crowd, the accident and the dishevelled appearance of the old man brought all the memories down her lane and she shuddered at the thought of loosing a life again. She somehow managed to regain her strength and decided to take the old man to the hospital by herself without wasting any time in waiting for the ambulance. She swiftly placed him in the car with the help of the chauffeur and drive away to the nearby hospital.

"S....Sir..... are you okay? Please hold on for a moment. We shall quickly reach to the hospital." She was continuously trying him to get into a little conversation so as to prevent him from passing out completely.

They reached the hospital and in no time the doctor checked upon the patient. He seemed to be okay with a mild concussion due to high blood pressure which created a ruckus on the street and in her heart some moments before. She was so much disturbed by his state that she even forgot about her meeting with the Knights.

She entered his room to ensure about his well-being. His face was pale as he was lying on the bed. Suddenly, her phone rang. It was Mia. She saw that she had many missed calls and a few text messages from her to arrive for the meeting at the earliest as it was about time. She very well knew that Regan Knight loathed tardiness and did not believe in giving second chances. But seeing the old man in such circumstances where no one was there to take care of him, she was not ready to take a chance of leaving him alone by himself that too without consulting his family about his whereabouts and health. She was unable to comprehend as what she should do. But she was determined to give her priority to humanity first.

After an hour or so the old man regained his consciousness and Anna immediately went up-to check him. "Sir, how are you feeling now? Aa.....are you okay? The doctor stated that you had high blood pressure due to which you knocked out on the street. Can you please give me your contact details so that I can call over your family and inform them about your health. And please don't worry. The doctor informed that there is nothing serious to be anxious about. You would be fit and healthy after a good rest."

"My child, I am okay I guess. I am grateful for your kindness. My name is Nathan Knight. I am sure that the hospital would have definitely contacted my family by now. They might be coming at any moment. "

Anna was baffled for a moment but managed to reply with an 'oh'. As soon as she came back to her senses, she felt a commotion outside the room. The door burst open and revealed Grace Knight, Nathan's wife who just ran up-to him and squeezed the life out of him through her hug. She was worried sick about her husband.

On the other end, Regan was burning with fury as Anna was unable to make up for the meeting on time. He already loathed her, considering her as an irresponsible person who just intended to waste his precious time. Mia had already came up with many excuses to cover up the situation but everything went in vain when he adjourned the meeting in rage and decided to give up on the idea of collaborating the companies as for him nothing was more important than his precious time.

As soon as he went out of the conference room where he had been impatiently waiting for her since an hour, he was vexed beyond imagination. Meanwhile he got a call from his mother about his father's health condition. He cursed under his breath as he thought that the day could not be worst than it was. He straight away went to the hospital.

After some time, Anna decided to leave as she remembered about her meeting. She panicked as she realized that she was indeed very late but later on convinced herself that she would explain the situation that she was into to deserve a second chance. Inspite of all the negativity surrounding her, she decided to reach the Knights Corporation as early as possible to handle the situation.

She was passing through the hospital passage hastily when she collided with a wall in front. She felt dizzy and was about to meet the ground when two strong arms held her by her waist and prevented her from getting hurt. She had shut her eyes tightly waiting for the pain to overcome her body. But she felt nothing. It was then when she realized that it was actually a person and not a wall to whom she collided with. As soon as she opened her eyes, her ocean blue orbs came in contact with the grey orbs of none other than Regan Knight who was holding and preventing her from the downfall which she was about to suffer from a few moments before.

However none of them knew that it was just the beginning of their story where he would always be there to hold, protect and cherish her.
