Realizing his love - II
Around half an hour or so passed after Emily left but Regan's thoughts were still surrounded by Anna. He was intrigued by Emily's words regarding Anna's past about which he had no clue. He knew something was amiss and after being certain that there were things which really hurt her in the past until now and he couldn't do anything to protect her from the pain..... he was enraged with himself for not being with her when she might have needed him the most. His chain of thoughts was broken by Nolan who informed him that Anna was ready to go. He instantly stood on his feet and headed towards the door.
"Have you dig in about them Nolan?" Regan asked him before turning the door knob.
"Yes Mr. Knight."
"Anything specific that should be taken care of?"
"Well..... Rumours say that Mr. Harrison Cullen doesn't have a good history with women... either on personal or professional front. And Ummm..... I think he quite fancy Miss Prescott. I mean when I called him today to fix the meeting he tried to know and talked about her a lot."
Regan's grip tightened over the knob as soon as the words slipped out from Nolan's mouth. Nolan could feel the rage emanating from his body and he instantly tensed up as he knew that it would not be a brave moov to awoke the beast inside him which somehow seemed to be tamed in Anna's presence. Without uttering a word he dashed outside his office.
Anna was already waiting near the elevator with Drake standing beside her. As soon as she heard someone's footsteps, she turned around and found Regan coming towards her. She gave him a small smile and entered the elevator which was already awaiting for them. When they reached the parking, Anna started moving towards her car but was halted by Regan.
"Anastasia?"
She stopped in her track and turned around to look at him.
"Can you please come with me? I have some important matters to discuss with you. We can talk about them on our way..... if you don't mind."
"Okay" She then called Max and informed him about the change of plans. She had already dismissed Mia for the day as she had not much work to do at the office.
"Where is Mia?" Regan asked her.
"I asked her to go early today."
He frowned as he couldn't understand her.
"Why?"
"Because she has been working strenuously for the past few days. Today there was not much to do, so I asked her to leave early so that she could have some time for herself."
He nodded his head in understanding and led her to his car. He asked Nolan to go with Drake. He opened the door for her and she slipped in. There was nothing much to discuss with her but after hearing Nolan, he just wanted to stay beside her to assure himself that she was okay. However, throughout the journey, he discussed various plans regarding the land and market that could be beneficial for the project so that Anna may not get suspicious about anything.
It took them more than three hours to meet the two dealers and discussing the things with them. They were now heading towards to meet Mr. Harrison Cullen who has some good deal under his sleeve and Anna was curiously looking forward to it.
As the car stopped, Anna stepped outside it with Regan following her. She was about to move when he said, "Anastasia I don't think you need to meet him. You can wait here till I finish the meeting with him."
"Why not?" She raised her brow as she couldn't understand him.
Regan wanted to keep her away from that man's lustful eyes because he didn't know what he would do to him if something like that would happen in front of him.
"Because that man is a creep Anastasia and I don't want such people around you." He was pissed off by now and her question didn't help him further.
Her lips curled in an amused smile. "Don't worry Regan. It's not the first time when I would be dealing with such creeps. I can take care of myself."
"Of course you can, but I won't allow anyone like him around you especially when I am with you. You don't need to deal with such people when I am there for you Anastasia."
"You'll protect me today..... then what about tomorrow when you will leave after a few months or years? You can't always be with me Regan."
"If that's the case..... then I'll make sure to be by your side forever Anastasia and Regan Knight never go back on his words." He said intently. Anna was shocked to hear him. She shook her head helplessly and said, "Regan..."
Before she could speak anything further, Drake and Nolan came towards them. She instantly stopped the conversation as she didn't know how to continue ahead to make him understand that what he was speaking was not possible.
Regan rushed to her side and whispered in a low voice, "Stay by my side as I don't know what I would do to him if he would try anything on you."
"Okay" She knew it would be futile to make him understand anything if he had made up his mind for something and the venom that dripped from his tone while talking about Mr. Cullen, she knew it would be better to agree with him. On the whole, the meeting went well with Mr. Cullen behaving himself well as Regan was constantly shooting daggers on him. He was always intimidating and being rigid about Mr. Cullen made him more hard for him to try anything dirty either with his body language or words. However, he was not finished yet. He turned to Nolan and said, "Nolan please take Anastasia to the car. I want to have a word with Mr. Cullen."
"Sure Mr. Knight." They went outside but Anna's mind was occupied with Regan's thoughts as she couldn't comprehend the meaning behind his words. Before heading out, she looked at him for a good one minute to know what was going on in his mind but he didn't spare a single glance to her. She was perplexed with his actions but decided to let it go for the moment and discuss about it later. However, she didn't know that it was his growing affection and love for her which was making him do things which he was never interested in doing before.
