They headed towards their next destination. Anna's face was gleaming with a beautiful smile. Regan could not help and sighed in content. She was constantly asking him about their next destination while he just grinned on her excitement which she tried to suppress but failed miserably and it didn't get unnoticed by him. He was happy to see her enjoying with him and forgetting about the incident of the last night.
Initially when she refused, he thought that he might have pushed her in the wrong direction and felt as if he would lose the opportunity to spend some quality time with her. However like always, she amused him. She looked quite enthusiastic and was acting as a little child eagerly awaiting for her birthday surprise. He chuckled at her response.
In the past, he certainly took some girls on fancy dates and dinners but none of them could steer the emotions in him as she does. It was all new for him. All he wanted was to show her a glimpse of his world. He was someone who always seeked for adventure and thrill in whatever he does and he wanted her to know more about him, all of him. He wanted himself to be a part of her happy memories and the reason of her smile. However, it seemed quite easy than expected as he noticed that unlike others she didn't seek pleasure in big things.... His small, negligible gestures were enough to bring out an angelic smile on her beautiful face.
"Where are we going Regan? Please tell me." She asked again.
"We will reach there in a few minutes. Why don't you yourself see it and figure it out?"
"You know.....I hate surprises." She puckerd her lips in annoyance.
"You know.....I love surprises." He mimicked her tone.
"Anna honestly, you look too cute when you act like this...excited and carefree just like a baby." He laughed out loud.
As soon as she heard him, her face reddened. She bit her bottom lip to hide her embarrassment and to stop herself to say him anything further. Regan was driving the car. When he glanced at her, he saw her rosy cheeks and his eyes landed on her delicate - glossy lips on their own accord. He didn't know how, but her small innocent action evoked something in him and he felt the sudden desire to taste her lush lips for once. He knew he had no right to think anything like that but he felt the strong urge to hold her in his arms and never let her go. As soon as the thought came to his mind, he slammed the brakes and the car abruptly stopped.
"Fu**! What the hell I am thinking?" He muttered under his breath.
"Regan what happened? Why did you stop the car? Is something wrong?" She placed her hand on his shoulder with worried eyes.
He immediately exited the car to get some fresh air. He closed his eyes and sighed, "How can I think like that? Am I lusting over her? No no no..... This is wrong... how can I?Jesus!"
He took deep breaths to calm his mind. When he opened his eyes, she was standing there right in front of him.
"Are you okay?" She asked again.
He didn't know what and how to explain her that she was a lethal combination of innocence and nubility who could lure any man with her charm without doing anything and knowing about it. It was the first time that he thought about her in a way that he should not. She was looking at him with her big ocean blue eyes piercing his soul, as if she could read anything and everything about him. He shuddered at the mere thought. He cleared his throat and said hastily, "I am fine. Let's go."
Anna was bemused over his weird behaviour but dismissed her thoughts and sat in the car. Soon they reached the Coney Island in Brooklyn. Meanwhile, Regan calmed himself and managed to get a hold over his line of thinking about her. They came out of the car and walked a few steps away from it.
She took in the view in front of her and gasped in surprise. She had indeed lived in New York since a long time but never got the chance to explore the place as she always felt uneasy at crowded places. Her parents, Richard and even Ashton were always very protective towards her and never pushed her to do anything that she was not comfortable at. She was surely thrilled about it but the hustle and bustle of the enormous crowd made her palms sweaty and she held his hand tightly.
Regan noticed her and could feel her anxiety. He squeezed her hand and said, "Hey! Take it easy."
"I am sorry. It's just that I don't feel comfortable at huddled places."
"Don't worry. I am here with you. I won't leave you. Ever."
The words slipped his mouth subconsciously and she felt something in her heart, for the first time. She couldn't pinpoint what it was but she believed him and instantly felt secured. She realized, how he took care of her every need and understand her unspoken words. The truth was he earned her trust like no one else did before. She had never once thought that the cold and ruthless CEO as he was recognized as would become a friend of her in the little time they spent together. A small smile erupted on her face as she remembered their first meeting. Since then, he never failed to protect her from anything and everything that threatened to hurt her. His kind gestures and attitude surprised her everytime. She knew that he was a man of few words but he never failed to express himself openly in front of her. She didn't know why but him being with her was something she started leaning on unintentionally... without knowing and realizing that he was gradually making a place for him in her heart and its pieces that were shattered were although not mended but surely came together that were once scattered, hard enough to even find.
