"Lady Esmeray?!"

Where...where am I?

"Lady Esmeray! Please wake up! You are late for breakfast!"

I groaned then opened my eyes in a squint. 

A short girl with strawberry blonde hair ringlets and bright blue eyes looked back at me. She wore a maid's uniform and looked at me with concern and fear.

She obviously didn't know I was awake.

"I'll call the physician my lady! Hang on!" 

She ran out of the room and shut the door in her haste. As soon as she left, I took note of my surroundings. My mouth fell in awe.

I was in a lavender coloured room, and I was on a queen sized bed. The windows were huge and covered with pink silk curtains, that were held open in a slit to let the morning light shine in. There was a comfy violet futon in the middle of the room with a glass tea table. 

A vanity stood near the bed with a mirror etched with floral and canine animal designs. I stood up and sat near it and looked at my reflection. 

I was breathtaking.

I had long and wavy black silky hair with the front bangs dyed white. I had  bright lavender eyes that had a mischievous glint.

This was not how I looked when I slept yesterday night.

My name is Maia and was diagnosed with liver cancer at age 16.

I was treated continuously but they said I only had two more years left. 

During those two years, my single mom gave up on me and left me with my auntie's care. My aunt tried everything thing she could - taking me to different hospitals, using diets. None worked. 

Yesterday night, I was having jaundice and feeling very weak. My doctor said I won't make past the week.

I guess I didn't make it past the night.

I stared at my non-itchy tan skin in shock. 

Is this the reincarnation that they talk about in books?
