4 Chapter 4

"What did you say," Likey looked at me completely dumbfounded.

Going to my closet I took out an empty bag.

I put my bat, and Likeys charger in it, but then I turned to see a picture of me, Nana, and my mom. I quickly took it out of the frame and put it in my bag.

Putting on the bag, I held Likey and looked at the door. The door was ready to crack open, even with the pile of furniture, "that thing" was still gonna break in.

I hurried out the window and shut it down, tight. My head was hurting like crazy, for some reason I felt so dizzy and hot and felt as if I was gonna faint.

As I ran down the final stairway, I heard a crash, I and Likey looked up to see that thing, breaking out the window.

Without even a second thought I jumped off the Fire Escape landing on the ground, I started running, Likey following me from behind. I didn't even know where I was going I just started running, the more I ran the more my head hurt.

We lived in The Outcrub. It was a quiet neighborhood, no business areas, no police stations, nothing. It was just low-income housing and homeless area. So even if I screamed I wasn't getting help especially this late at night.

Turning every corner, I didn't stop running, I felt Likey calling me, but I wasn't listening, I just ran, far away from that thing.

Not being able to take the image of Nana off my mind. I couldn't stop thinking about the way she died a terribly painful death.

The way she had multiple weapons in her body.

The way her guts were springing out her body, and her blood creating a waterfall on the wall.

The way that thing was sucking on her leg.

The same leg that I used to hang on when I was 4 when me and Nana played the floor is lava.

I kept thinking about how we never got to eat the takeouts Nana bought, from my favorite store.

I never even once said how much of a mother she was to me.

Did I even ever thank her for adopting me?

It was because of her that I didn't go to child services.

Have I ever even told her how much I loved her, even though she told me she loved me many times.

Was I that much of an ungrateful brat?

The more I thought about it, the more the tears started coming down, and the more my head hurt.

I ran and ran. Until I hit a dead-end. Literally.

I stopped running, to catch a breather, only to see a wall right in front of me.

I mentally screamed. But doing anything mentally just made my head hurt even worse.

That's when I quickly went to the corner and vomited.

It was loads of acid, I had kept replaying all the gore images and I almost forgot about having hemophobia.

I looked at Likey who was looking at me worryingly.

"Risa we have to go to take a different path,"

"I know," I said getting up coughing.

That's when we heard creaking sounds.

The area we were in was tight, the buildings were high, and there were just garbage bins everywhere. There was a huge shadow blocking our viewpoint to the exit. There was a small glitchy lamp in front of the shadows. Giving a creepy vibe to the area.

I should have chosen a different area than the one we went on. I was so lost in thought, that I lost my sense of direction.

That's when we saw the things leg(s) start coming to the light. Its body started coming out of the shadow, and we were able to see its full body.

Likey who was scared hovered inside the book bag as a way to hide and zipped it.

But there I was coming face to face with the thing.

Looking at it face to face it was huge, defiantly 8 feet tall.

I came in contact with its horrid face, and its eyes of void. It was drooling, the weird gooey black liquid was coming down like slime, and his teeth were also visible.

I trembled before it, as it slowly got closer, I quickly moved backward, until I hit the dead-end wall.

The moment I hit the wall, that's when the realization hit me.

This was it for me, this was how I was gonna die.

I remembered meeting up today with Ms. BK, how she told me to stay alive no matter what.

And here I was ready to die by the hands of a fu*king monster, an eight-legged demon, that's the worst way anyone can die by.

My head started hurting even worse now as if it was ready to explode.

Putting my hand on my head, it was burning up, it was so hot it almost burned my hand.

My stomach and everywhere in my body were hurting.

My vision became blurry, I couldn't tell whether it was because of my head, or cause I didn't have my glasses on. The firmness in my legs had withered, and suddenly I was falling to the ground.

I had collapsed.

My body on the floor, but my eyes staring up at the sky, I looked up to see the clouds. It was just bare gray clouds. Not a single star in sight and the clouds blocked my view of the moon.

How pitiful, I thought.

If I was gonna die staring up at the sky, it should've at least been a starry night.

I felt the steps of the thing coming closer to me. It felt slow as if the world was in slow motion now.

Pathetic I thought.

Everything about my life was pathetic, wherever I'm gonna go now it should be hell. After the way, I was always ungrateful to Nana, and not taking life seriously, hell was where I belonged.

I wonder what Kyles up to now, I always liked him, I never got to tell him that.

He's still probably hanging out with his friends at the cafe.

That's good, I thought.

At least he won't be alone when I die.

I'm sorry mom, I wasn't able to live a long life as you wanted me to.

I'm sorry Ms. BK, I broke our promise, I let myself die so easily.

I'm sorry Nana, I should've locked the door on my way to school.

I'm truly sorry.

I small tear came down my eye, touching my ear, as I felt the fall breeze push leaves around in the wind. My eyes started getting heavy, really heavy until they shut down.

What a pathetic life this was. I should've never been born if this was how it was gonna end.

Third Person Narrative

As the thing walked closer to Risa's body, it used some of its legs to pick her up, Risa was still unconscious. Not feeling or hearing a single thing around her.

The thing opened his mouth wide, showing his enormous teeth that went around in circles.

Ready to eat Risa in his mouth. The thing heard sudden footsteps. Still holding Risa he turned around to see what was interrupting his meal.

A tall male figure came out of the shadows. He was wearing a certain uniform, with a small blue and black robe covering him. His black hair was visible even though he had a hoodie on him.

Taking out something which seemed like a phone from his pocket, he took a picture of the thing holding Risa. He fixed his glasses and started typing on his phone as if it looked as if he was texting someone. and then quickly put it back in his pocket.

Sighing he stared at the thing, who was somewhat dumbfounded.

The thing then used one of its many legs and swung it at the man, at a fast pace.

Only landing it halfway there the leg cut open, not even touching the man.

The man smiled, a somewhat smudged face was planted to him.

"How annoying," he said.

"If they were gonna send me to do this mess, the opponent should've been a little strong,"

He took off his glasses and put them in his pocket.

Doing hand movements, the man swayed his hand to left and right in an incredible amount of speed. Green energy started forming around him. His green eyes started glowing, and a small triangle symbol was implanted on his eye.

Under his breath, he murmured.

"Energy Manipulation:

Explode,"

The thing's body exploded into black gooey liquid, exploding everywhere in the area.

It dropped Risa's body as she fell back onto the ground.

The man did a small hand stretch, relieved as he had just finished a long mission.

He walked up to Risa's body, who was still unconscious. He bent over to check her pulse.

"She's still breathing,"

Incredible, he thought she would get killed instantly, but she must've escaped.

Kicking her a little he tried to see if she would get up. When she still didn't move, he let out an annoyed sigh.

"How annoying," he mumbled.

Bending over, he picked her up and held her on his shoulder. For someone who looked light, she was heavy, really heavy.

He put her back on the ground, and picked up one of her legs, and started dragging her.

He started walking while dragging her, with an annoyed face planted on him.

"V owes me big time," he mumbled.
