Hiding

Cities.

Not what she had intended at first, but after many close calls with humans and other supernatural beings in small towns, Kay decided that a city with a forest nearby was her best option, but at the moment she was between cities, meaning she was distracted and on edge.

Ever since the incident in her home town seven years prior, she had taken on something of a pacifist lifestyle, dead set on never allowing another incident like that, it was her third week in this town and she would leave after the full moon as planned.

While she now knew that there was something seriously wrong with herself, she had yet to find out what it was, she was a stranger to the natural and supernatural, an enigma, a true outcast.

All she wanted was to remain secluded, stay away from others so she won't hurt anyone but some things just aren't meant to be, and her peace was one of those.

"Hey earth to Kay, you buying or what?" Came a high pitched girl's voice ringing her out of her thoughts.

She was standing at the cashier with a few packets of meat in her hand, most of her features had remained the same, though her once cerulean eyes were now the shade of the sky, from a result of her continuously suppressing and isolating herself every full moon.

She placed the goods on the counter and went into her backpack. "How's your cousin doing?" Kay asked the teen behind the counter, to which the redhead gave her an approving look from head to toe.

"You planning on asking him out?" The girl smiled at Kay with a wink behind her glasses. "He'd totally fall for you."

"Sam, your cousin's sweet but I'm not interested in any guys, I asked because he still owes me after I took his shift at the lumber yard last week."

"Girls then?"

"What? No, I'm not into girls either, all I need is a proper job and some books as company okay?"

Riley cashed the last item and held her hands up in defeat. "I'm just saying, with a body like yours, if you're interested I wouldn't mi-"

"Imma punch you if you don't stop." Kay suddenly deadpanned, causing the girl to burst out laughing. "I'll see you in three days again."

"Ok bye."

She left the store with a smile, looking back and seeing the girl waving still.

As soon as she was out of sight though, she straddled the bag on her back and began running as fast as she could to her destination, it was passed midday and she could already feel the moon's presence creeping up on her, whether it was true, or just her paranoia playing with her again, she would take it seriously.

Two hours of running and she had finally reached her destination, an old abandoned farmhouse in the middle of the woods.

It was perfect, and also the only reason she was able to stay in one spot for more than one moon.

While the place was a complete mess, she had done her best at repairing every hole and sealing every crack she could see, blocking every kind of light from entering.

Sweaty and panting, she stood at the entrance for several minutes more before going inside.

Aside from the fact that the area is conveniently far from people and out of sight, she decided to stay because the pillars on the inside of the farmhouse were all made of steel, and for the past year or so she had picked up the habit of carrying chains around to restrain herself so it was all perfect.

When she went wild, she had no sense of self or place, as far as her wild self was concerned everything was foreign and had to be ripped to shreds so she made enough space and put precautions in place so that she wouldn't destroy anything she held as valuable.

She had a specific iron latch that locked her ankles together, which was also attached to a chain that she had bound to the biggest column, then wrapping the chain through the centre of the ankle restraints she bound one of her hands all the way up to her elbow with the chain before locking it to one of the loops close to her ankles, it was uncomfortable as long as she tried to stand or even sit up, but lying down was fine.

Reaching into the igloo full of meat beside her, she pulled out a parcel and ate then swallowed the key to the lock before pushing the igloo out of reach, picking up her book and lying down on her side.

Inside of the farmhouse was already as dark as night, and with little to nothing to do but read, it wasn't long before she started talking to herself, it was boring, and it was gonna stay that way for three days before she even opened the doors again.

"How will I find food next week?" She asked herself. "Maybe I can work in that lumber yard for a few days like before? No.. I shouldn't stay at this place any longer, people tend to get curious, and making friends is dangerous." She pouted and closed the book.

"I haven't been in a city for a while now, small town don't have that much to offer when I'm bored like this, at least in a city I'd be able to find a nice dungeon with a good TV or something."

She sighed again.

"I could find a pack again." She spoke loudly tapping the ground. "I'm always smelling Blood-Hounds here in America even more than Europe, I can't imagine that they'd accept me if they knew who I was though...or.. I-"

The very moment the light of the moon was cast on the building confining her she fell silent.

"What's the point Kay?"

"You're alone in this world, a monster of monsters." She sighed before closing her eyes.

At least without the moonlight all her energy could be converted into fatigue to make her fall asleep if she exerted herself at the beginning.

She was completely unaware of what was going on outside with absolutely no sense of time, but rather the position of the moon as it slowly moved.

Her vision was getting clearer by the minute and her skin was starting to feel as though fire was beneath it, she became tormented and even her thoughts were turning into nightmarish screams.

She closed her eyes as the lunar tug grew in strength, fighting the building urge as it pulsed like a reservoir on the brink of explosion... She fought back with all of her willpower, but when the moon rode the skies at midnight, once again she fell victim to it's influence and lost her mind in an instant.

For the next six hours, she was tormented by every life she had ever taken, the horrified looks of pain and agony, the screams and pleas for mercy, the spilled blood the slaughtered.

They all came back like inescapable nightmares, eventually she began relentlessly tugging biting and gnawing at the chains trying every primal method to escape, but they were made of tungsten so she was only able to leave tiny silver scratches no matter how much strength she exerted, by the time the sun was up, she was exhausted.

Another hour after the moon went down, she regained full consciousness and started looking around, while the chains themselves were as sturdy as ever, the lock looked on the verge of breaking apart after a night with her.

Without using much force she snapped the lock off with her free hand and began unchaining herself. "I'll have to replace this and get back here before noon." She said before sitting up after untangling her arm.

For a second she had a look of complete focus on her face before it changed to disgust as she suddenly regurgitated the key along with some of her previous meal.

How she hadn't noticed was probably because she was too focused on puking, but the moment she was about to unlock the restrains the door of the farmhouse was rammed in by an off-road Jeep that came and crashed into her pinning her on the iron column behind her, the collision caused broken metal parts from the vehicle to impale her torso, even though she managed to protect her organs last minute she was still bleeding heavily, and her back felt unnaturally twisted and positioned like it was broken as well.

The sudden bursts of pulsing pain was already causing her body to shut down.

"Shit.. shit! There was someone there!" She heard someone yell just before her vision started to blur.

"Is he dead?" A female voice called.

That voice..

"It's a she not a he." The guy said shakily. "The cops, are gonna kill us, this is definitely a life sentence here, robbery assault and now murder?"

"H-eye it's Kay!" Sam gasped falling and scrambling backward. "We killed her!"

"Sam, I can't go to jail, I have a scholarship, what do we do?"

"Look, the cops were on our tail so.. uh.. let's bury her and get the hell outta here, burn this place down with the car in it, and don't forget that they still don't know who we are yet." She said after a few seconds of pondering.

"Isn't that gonna take too long?" The guy asked back. "Maybe we should just burn her too?"

"No, look, we cam put her in that igloo over there, let's hurry, help me push the Jeep away."

"She's chained down."

"Bret, the lock broke when you smashed her, just help me get he-"

Kay let out a groan when the Jeep shifted and opened her eyes, but only barely.

"She's still alive!" Bret shrieked before the sounds of police sirens slowly started approaching.

"Shit they're already here, let's just torch everything and run."

"Samantha.. you little shit." Were Kay's thoughts before she started falling unconscious. "I'll track you down and rip your heart from your fucking chest."

A minute or so after the teen pair ran away from the crash, two officers came running in.

"H-Harley get the extinguisher I think one of em got trapped in the crash." The closer officer shouted to his partner.

Coming closer as his partner ran back, he was surprised to see that the girl covered in blood and wounds was staring at him, blinking even. "Harley! Call it in, this kid's still alive!"

He looked at her in fascination; this girl with golden eyes...
