Food poisoning

There was comfort she hadn't felt in ages, first the sensation of being embraced, something she'd given up on after several failed relationships over the years, and now this:

The feeling beneath her was evanescent, a warmth that held her entire body suspended, compared only to the feeling of floating in a pool of breathable water, a pleasant chilly feeling slowly washed across her face and fingers while her body on the other hand was warm and cushioned, you could say it was protected by this warmth as it elapsed around her wholely.

Kay yawned and stretched lazily, her eyes stayed closed, the golden sunlight gracing her skin was set in rows of warm strips, birds chirped as they made their way home and critters chittered and chatted on the outside causing an even more relaxing sensation of peace to encompass her.

It was evening, several minutes before sundown.

"I see you finally woke up."  She heard a soft female voice at her feet.

Suddenly aware of the situation Kay sprang from the bed and pounced at the unknown, when her vision cleared and her heart stopped pounding she realised that she was pinning a blonde middle-aged woman to an unfamiliar carpeted beige floor.

The woman was silent as she observed Kay's features, she seemed mesmerized by her golden eyes and tanned skin framed by wild black hair with a few strands of white at the front.

The evening sun slowly faded and the once angel-like appearance Kay had worn suddenly seemed to reek of a demonic nature, the once beautiful eyes now seemed ominous, her lips slowly turned downward and parted to reveal a mouth full of sharp fangs and incisors.

Realising she would be in danger soon, the woman tapped at Kay's fingers that firmly gripped her neck and smiled. "I mean no harm." She said almost choking.

"Who are you?" Kay asked, not buying it for a second, though she did give the woman some space to breathe properly now. "Where am I?" She asked again. "Detail it."

"My name is Sarah."

"You're in my apartment building, fourth floor, room eight." Sarah smiled at Kay still. "Luke and Belle are downstairs waiting for you."

At the mention of those names, she eased off completely and stood, backing up against the wall and getting a good look around the room, when she looked down at herself though her face went dark again after realising that she wasn't wearing the sundress, but before she could say a word or move the woman held up both her hands in defence and shook her head. "I cleaned you and changed you, er... You smelled."

"I liked that smell." Kay growled, almost unable to recognise the scent now surrounding her. "Luke!"

"That's unnecessary." Sarah said standing and taking a step toward her. "I'll t-"

"Come any closer and I'll rip you to pieces." Kay snapped at Sarah, who despite her imminent danger still smiled, it seemed sincere, and all Kay could feel was sincerity, but she didn't trust anyone capable of smiling in such a situation, it was creepy and unnerving.

She listened as the two sets of footsteps raced up the staircase and within just seconds Luke pushed the door in.

Seeing him Kay sighed from relief and sunk down to the floor. "Is everything ok?" Luke asked placing a hand on Sarah's shoulder as he passed her to stand in front of Kay.

She nodded slowly but kept her eyes on the ever-smiling woman.

"Here, I prepared something for you while you were out." Belle also walked pass Sarah and crouched at Kay's side unraveling a paper bag to reveal a sealed box container.

"Is that food?" Kay asked surprised, taking the container and opening it. "I haven't had anyone prepare me food before, and this'll be my first time having cooked food too." She half smiled.

"No need for thanks then." Belle gave a small half smiled of her own. "Luke actually insisted so just eat up, you've gotta be starving after going two whole days without food."

Kay obediently picked up the small fork in its own compartment and stuck it in a piece of meat. "It smells amazing, what is it?" She asked, causing the three observers to give her a concerned look.

Luke took a seat on the edge of the bed facing the window and staring outside with an unreadable expression as he processed what Kay had just said.

Belle leaned against the wall beside her and held her mouth in shock, she couldn't even look at her. "Just.. just what kind of nightmare have you been living in all this time?" She asked almost watery eyed.

"It smells like, baked chicken, remember to chew it, that's how you get the flavour." Sarah replied without her smile, she couldn't imagine that someone actually didn't know what such a common meal was.

"Baked, chicken." Kay repeated before sticking the piece of meat in her mouth.

She chewed, and every second passing seemed like the others were holding their breath as they watched her.

After what was definitely too much chewing Kay swallowed dramatically and took a big breath. "Delicious."

The others sighed in relief, but it was only a few seconds of victory before Kay gagged and the food fell from her hands. "What.. is.. this!?" She stood with a scream and her eyes flashed golden before she grabbed her stomach and all the food came right back up.

"What's wrong?" Luke asked grabbing her shoulders and leading her into the bathroom.

She sounded hoarse as she coughed uncontrollably, her eyes were watery and the grip she held on Luke's hand was causing even him to wince as she leaned over the tub and brought up blood and stomach fluids.

"I swear it's safe what the hell kind of reaction is this?" Belle began defending herself before even being accused by anyone.

Luke went back for the food, picked it up and stuck a piece of the meat in his mouth.

Kay slumped in the bathroom looking at him, while Sarah and Belle kept quiet for a reaction. "It's.. regular baked chicken." Luke mused, he was shocked when Kay came back and snagged it from his grasp and threw another piece of meat in her mouth.

"It's still delicious." Kay said as she chewed before swallowing again, but as soon as she did, she ran back to the bathroom and vomited it all right back up. "Ugh It burns!" She wheezed between coughing and choking. "Why won't it stay down?" Tears welled up and flowed from her eyes and she folded her fist and punched her stomach, then ran back and grabbed the box from Luke and threw all its contents in her mouth, swallowing without chewing a thing.

"Mikayla!" Luke tried stopping her but she had already done the deed. "If it hurts then don't force yourself.

She ran back to the bathroom again, just like before vomiting everything up along with more blood. "I.. love how it tastes, it's delicious.. so why can't I keep it down?" She slumped to the side of the toilet like a drunkard, blood flowed from her mouth and nose as she punched her own stomach with all of her strength. "This fucking body, so useless.. I can't even enjoy something so tasty!"

Her breathing became erratic and the glow in her eyes brightened as she stood and looked at the three, specifically, Sarah.

"Hey.. calm down, let's not be rash." Luke realised what that look was. "The forest is close by, let's go get you something fresh."

"Forest, the forest." Kay repeated before running out of the bathroom Belle was shoved out of the way as she blocked Kay's path to Sarah, but Kay hadn't planned on attacking any human, instead she charged at the window and jumped, crashing through.

She lingered in the air for several seconds before she landed on a moving truck, toppling it over as she jumped across the road and onto another building and climbing it like a lizard.

"Belle stay here until I return." Luke ordered his right hand as he ran to the broken window.

"She's too dangerous Luke." Belle growled.

"Call for backup, she might not be under the influence of the moon, but she's still unable to control herself, we can't afford any killings right now, but stay here in case she returns.

"Why are you going through this much for her?" Belle asked back as he was about to jump.

"She's different Belle, and any way you look at it, her presence still presents more pros than cons." He grinned before jumping out the window.

Belle pulled out her phone and began typing away. As she mumbled about bat-shit crazy people suddenly being the 'in-thing' these days.

She didn't know how far she had gone, but it seemed like the night had gone a far way by the time she stopped running, it had been hours.

The moon was hanging high as she panted and wandered aimlessly, her body ached and her stomach growled repeatedly.

But just as she was about to call it quits and turn back, her nose alerted her of a meal nearby.

She sniffed the air repeatedly, going down on all fours and running off after opening her eyes and looking to her left. "Starving, c'mon little deer, where are you?" She silently zigzagged across the forest floor in a wild chase after the scent of the deer before suddenly racing up a tree and pouncing down as fast as she could.

Someone was watching a deer as it peacefully drank at a small round spring, preparing to have his first raw meal in weeks only to witness his even of serenity get violently destroyed as a blur of pink crashed into it like a missile, crushing it's throat and killing it in one bite.

From the dust, water and forest floor debris this person saw a beautiful girl in pink pajamas lift the deer and rip it's head clean off, spraying herself with blood as she began slashing at the body and biting away the muscles.

She placed a foot on the corpse's side and yanked out the foreleg with a grunt then forcefully peeled the hide away to reveal it's succulent pink flesh, still fresh and dripping, he could even see steam rising from the flesh because of the low temperatures, his mouth watered and he involuntarily gulped as he witnessed this girl mutilate the poor creature, who hasn't even been given a chance at crying for pain.

"Amazing." He whispered, but then went stiff when her golden gaze settled on his hiding place. "Shit." He whispered again sliding down the rock he was leaning against and turning around to run away.

He yelped instead when he turned and saw the girl he was just watching crouching with the leg in one hand and another untouched leg in her other hand.

"You're pretty fast for a Blood-Hound aren't you?" He asked as a single beed of sweat made its way down his jaw.

"Do you belong to any pack?" Kay asked, involuntarily standing in the path of the moonlight causing her shadow to cast itself down on him, all he could see were those intense eyes. "Answer me." She demanded.

"I'm an Omega." He sighed, also standing to leave before a shimmer caught his eye. "That necklace." He gasped. "It's a moon gem right? It's my first time seeing one."

Kay threw the untouched leg at him and raised the gem to look at it. "I didn't know I was wearing this." She mused taking another ripping chunk of the deer leg. "What's it for?"

"I don't know what it's significance to Blood-Hounds are, but us Werewolves use it as a means of control, or greater power."

"Whatever." Kay shrugged and started walking away as she finished the leg.

"Wait! What's your name?" He called at her.

"Mikayla." She replied before throwing the bone to the side, and speeding off into the forest leaving him staring.

His smile cracked from infatuated to maniacal as he looked at the leg in his hand and then the mutilated deer.

"Us meeting like this is fated, you just might be that difference I've been searching for, I'll be seeing you again for sure..my beautiful Kay, sooner than you think."
