1 The Man of misfortune (1)

The dark magician chapter 1

The adventurer's guild is a common building across cities where people with talent can register and become adventurers that do many quests given to the guilds that adventurers can do and gain rewards for completing them.

Like always the adventure guild was noisy. While it was a guild building people could also buy food and drinks here if they wanted to relax while discussing things with their parties.

The guild entrance door opened the door with it being a saloon door. The one entering was a tall man wearing a coat that was just black no other calling it was unnaturally black like an abyss when people stared too long at his coat, they would feel like something would stare at them back.

The man walked to the reception desk and the receptionist looked at the man he pushed his glasses up and smiled.

>>Seems you are back again from the mission. << he spoke casually as he grabbed papers from a drawer and a pen that was coated in a gold sheet.

The man opened his coat with his left hand and with his right hand went in there what he pulled out were the hands of 22 goblins and left them on the desk. Some fell to the ground as they did not fit on the desk.

The receptionist was not surprised by it and that was something all adventurers had to do to show that the mission they accepted had been cleared. He grabbed the head examining it and looking at the wounds on the head and the way it got cut.

>>It does seem to fit the description of the goblins that the mission had<< he then put the head back on his desk making sure it stands there in a corner. He would fill out the papers on the desk and start writing on them using magic words created on top of the paper with the pen.

The process of finishing it took the receptionist only a few minutes. He signed the papers and the papers burned to ashes leaving nothing behind the fire that the papers burned did not spread to any other wooden things instead burning only the papers alone.

He took out a bag and handed it to the man. The man grabbed it and nod speaking with a quiet voice "Thank you" he said the word but did not mean the words he said there was no emotion behind these emotions like a man that has given up on everything.

>>No problem, Jack you do a lot of the work for us<< he said with a smile waving Jack away.

>>Still as good as ever, eh? << one of the adventures said to Jack sitting nearby. Jack did not mind him and started to walk to leave the building.

>>You know how he can hunt down monsters thanks to his skills<< a member of the adventurer said.

>>But he still is an F-rank, isn't he? << a magician from another party spoke aloud. Jack was a bit famous, but he was famous for being an adventurer doing solo missions and not ranking up even though he should.

Jack left the guild holding the bag in there, he did not bother looking into it, he knew the guild well enough that they would not pay him any less, he went around the open market buying some fruits and bakery. Jack had a dark presence around him, but it was common; his class was a dark magician.

>>Hey Jack, can you come later I need you for a small request. << a man asked as he handed Jack the pieces of bread he asked for.

>>Sure Mr. Clink<< Jack replied also giving a slight nod to him.

The relationship that Jack had with the locals was good, the place he lived in was not a big place but a small village with only 2000 residents living there permanently. This is why it is called a small village even though in total more than 40 000 people are living here in inns or other similar places.

Jack went to the house he lived in. The house was a small one, the size is well small in this world because people tend to have many children here, but for Jack it was big.

The house size was close to 300 square meters, which was more than he would have ever lived in. Jack may call it his house, but it was more like an apartment in this world.

He saw actual small houses here which were maybe twice or thrice the size. He put the groceries on the table and took a seat. >>After I finish eating, I better go to Mr.

Clink's house<< Jack spoke to himself he took off his coat and the hood of it showing a face with black eye rings like a man that had not slept for weeks.

He grabbed some of the fruits eating them eating them with the bread putting nothing in the bread. The house, even though it was so big, was nearly empty with inside it being just some furniture for sitting and eating and a small kitchen.

The walls were not painted in any way showing their wood texture. It was a lonely house as if no one even lived there. Silently eating not even as Jack eats was there a sound here.

>>Are you having fun? << a voice said right at Jack's ear, but he ignored the voice instead he continued eating his meal for today.

>>Oh, ignoring me even though we were such great comrades in the past? << the voice chuckled.

>>Seems he got used to us, didn't he? << another voice appeared.

>>How could he get used to us with the things that he did? <<

>>Right Jack do you think just because you have a somewhat depressive behavior that you are not guilty anymore?<< many more voices started to appear speaking in loud voices piercing his eardrums and making them hurt he could not block their voices like a parasite they were beside him hearing them both in his ear and mind.

Jack spoke out a spell. When the final words of the spell were spoken Jack did not hear the voices anymore, they stopped for now. He looked at his hand.

His hand was slightly burned, and he could not even react to the pain as how painful it was hearing the voices, but his brain reacted to it for him.

He let out a sigh and looked to see if he had any bandages, thankfully, he had some that he had bought months ago.

The amount was already almost finished but enough to bandage his hand. He grabbed it and started to bandage his hand wound.

He used on himself a curse spell that would decay a part of his hand with the target feeling the process afterward it was not a slow effect but a fast one which the brain gave the pain later. The pain then came, and Jack clenched his teeth because of the pain.

He was still not used to the pain that he had to inflict on himself so these voices would disappear. >I need to go back to the temple later < the temple is a place where priests and nuns were all there healing the wounded. Even if he was a dark magician, it was not that they would deny his request of getting the two opposite forces healed in this village were not enemies or had any history of war unlike in other countries or continents.

Jack got out of his house the place he lived was a bit far away from the village but not completely isolated from civilization he lived on a mountain that was close to the village.

Being on top there as he walked down, he would see the houses of other people but those were the houses of adventurers who took permanent residence in the village it was common for adventurers to live in the nearby mountains because as how close they were to the village.

With adventurers able to hunt the monsters in the mountains and sell the monsters to the villagers afterward which was a great deal for many adventurers who took permanent residence.

Jack was down at the mountain, he took a left turn, walked for another ten minutes, he saw the farm of Mr. Clink. The farm was 1 acre big with him living in an actual house. The house was close to being close to 70 square meters, quite a big house.

While Jack was aware that he had many children he still felt like it was quite much for them.

He then stood at the front door of the house, he thought that he may be a bit too early here already or that he should have gone back to the market and waited for him there, but Jack sat on the ground and put on his hoodie, waiting there. He looked at the sun.

>4 hours most likely till he comes home< he stood there just waiting. He had his eyes closed, concentrating to not stay there for nothing Jack breathed and felt the manga that was everywhere much cleared now as a dark magician he had to concentrate to feel the manga, unlike normal magicians.

The senses of a dark magician were stronger sensing the forces of life and death as they were the two forces that a dark magician was more sensitive to. However, the two magicians could use the two forces that the other was more sensitive to.

He was breathing the mana in him and making it flow through his body accumulating it and trying to form it into an orb located in the inside of his heart.

The orb was not in a perfect shape as the curves would go in it or it was too big. The mana then busted out and Jack opened his eyes and coughed out blood he covered his mouth fast and looked at his hand to see the color of his blood. The blood was dark red.

>How is my blood so impure? < Dark blood was the sign that a person's blood was dirty, infected with something making it have a dark color.

>>Jack! << Clink said aloud calling him and had run to Jack standing beside him with his hand touching Jack's back. >>Is everything fine? << Clink looked at him his eyes showing worryingly.

>>I 'am fine Mr. Clink<< he said wiping the blood from his mouth he then continued to speak: >>I tried to accumulate mana at my heart<< Jack let out a breath catching air.

>>You tried what! << he said and was now angry. >>Do not you know how dangerous it is doing that especially alone you could have died!<<

Clink and many of the other adults of the village saw Jack as like a close relative and would often nag him whenever he did anything too dangerous or pushed himself too far over his limit.

Clink saw Jack's face looking away and being slightly embarrassed having gotten caught by him. Clink let out a sigh and stopped the nagging speaking in a quieter tone: >>I will stop the nagging for now but do not risk your life like that you know we all like you a lot<< he then smiled at Jack but the worry in his eyes was not gone.

>>Sorry for making you worry Mr. Clink<< Jack apologized he was weak towards people that were worried about him even blushing often because of their kindness of theirs from the embarrassment.

Jack then coughed and stood up from the ground looking at Clink. >>So, Mr. Clink what is the favor that you wished from me? << he asked now.

>>I show you come<< he waved his hand and started to walk. Jack followed Clink. He was brought to the farmhouse but not to the farmhouse inside.

Instead of going there, Jack started to get the smell of something rotten, a smell that Jack knew well enough to recognize with the faintest smell of it.

When at the back of the farmhouse he saw it, there was a dead cattle's corpse. The corpse was viscously ripped apart with the limbs and head missing while the guts and ribs were visible or ripped and broken.
