The Wake

"Watanabe....Watanabe!" I heard a voice call my name.

I slowly began to open my eyes. There, I saw master Seiji and master Yoji. I remembered that I had passed out after "fighting" a monster.

I slowly sat up. "Ow, my head." My head began to pound furiously.

"Are you alright, Watanabe?" Master Yoji asked.

"I think so..." I felt sick to my stomach. If I remember correctly, I didn't wake up until way later, right? I woke up when I was found by master Seiji and master Yoji.

"That was epic!" One of the chosen ones exclaimed as they looked at me. "I didn't know there was someone so powerful like that."

That's right. "I" defeated that monster. However, it wasn't me. I wasn't in control of my body. If I wasn't, then who was?

"You...weren't in control of your body?" Master Seiji asked with a confused expression.

I forgot he could read minds. "Yes. It's true. I wasn't in control of my body."

"You don't even know who it was? That must be frightening." Master Seiji looked at me with a concerned expression.

"I think I should go back to my room. Maybe I'll be able to find out who is in control once I have a quiet place to concentrate." I explained.

"Maybe." Master Seiji stood to his feet. "Alright everyone. For now, let's head back."

We all began to head back to the school. I, however, separated from the rest once we were back at the school. I went back to my dorm to concentrate.

I then closed my eyes to focus.

Who are you that's in my mind?

I need you to come out.

"Maybe it would be easier if you lost consciousness again." A voice said.

I then opened my eyes and saw a beautiful girl in front of me. She had beautiful black hair and her eyes were as blue as the ocean.

"Hello there." The girl smiled.

"Who...who are you?" I asked.

"Why, you wanted to meet me, didn't you? I'm the one who takes control of your body to fight, of course."

"You are the one?" My mouth fell to the floor.

"You don't need to seem so shocked."

"How come I couldn't see you before? Why only now?"

"I don't know. Don't ask me. It's your body." The girl sighed.

"But you can also control it too, so technically, it's also your body." I snapped back.

"Touché."

The is really weird. I have a girl in my head!

"You know that when you tlak through your mind, I can also hear you, right?"

"Oh, I forgot." I scratched my head.

"So, anyway, why did you call for me?"

"Oh, that's right. I wanted to know who was the person controlling my body. I didn't know it was a girl." I smiled. "What's your name?"

"First of all, don't smile creepily like that. I may be a girl, but I'm no where near interested in you. And second of all, my name is Ayumi."

"Nice to meet you Ayumi. I'm Raku. I hope we could be good friends. I can trust you, right?"

"Of course! I wouldn't dare hurt your body. If you die, I die. So, don't worry about it."

"I'm glad." I looked down. "Oh yeah. How come you live in my body? Were you a human before this?"

"I don't remember before that. The last thing I remember was when I was 9. I was in your body like this and I was able to protect you from danger. You got into lots of trouble as a kid, you know?"

"Really?" I began to blush. "I was a clumsy kid. These type of things aren't really cut out for me."

"But you shouldn't give up, right?"

"Huh?"

"You're talking about using your power, right? Of course you can do it! You just need to put your mind into it! Believe in yourself."

After hearing those words, I couldn't help but cry. That was the first time someone has ever encouraged me. Not my family. Not Gin. Not even Grandpa.

Since Gin was alway better than me at everything, my parents liked him better.

"Is this Gin guy your brother?" Ayumi asked.

"Yeah, he is my step-brother. My real parents died when I was 5, but Gin's family took me in. My Grandfather was the only survivor of my real family. He took in Gin and his family as his own. He loves Gin more than me."

"I'm sure that's not true."

I then looked up at Ayumi. Her warm smile calmed me down. "I'm sure you are important to him. You guys are family after all."

Ayumi then embraced me. Her hug felt loving. I felt as if I knew her for a long time, and she loved me. I didn't want to let go of this feeling. I loved it...
