125 Not-So-Noble

Ash saw me coming and frowned. 

"What is it?" he asked quietly when I approached.

"The Queen needs to sit down. But there are no chairs here. Do you think we could find a way to get a few brought in and placed around the room… so it wouldn't be obvious it was just for her?"

He nodded, then lifted his eyes over my shoulder and tipped his chin at someone.

I turned in time to find one of the men in David's livery, trotting towards us.

"We'll need your help,"  Ash said, then offered me his arm as we hurried out of the room.

We walked quickly and I would have missed it, might not even noticed because I was tired, and Ash and the servant were discussing details of where they could find chairs that would be appropriately grand, but suitably portable, and my head was still spinning about that conversation with David and…

I heard a sniff.
