Chapter 91 - Leon's Goal [1]

Valier's POV: 

I turned around and grabbed Leon's spear and threw it to him. This could potentially lower my grade, but it was fine. 

"You threw the spear? Didn't know you were the type to use a spear like that."

Leon caught his spear and crouched down slightly and got into his stance.

"I'm not, I was just hoping to break your chains with that throw. Obviously, I missed."

For a moment, I considered breaking my chains, but destroying my Weapon might not be the best thing for my grades. 

What a pain. I wanted to fight Leon at full power, but, for now, he was not someone worth lowering my grades for.

I then charged at Leon, intending to close the distance between us as fast as possible. But, he predicted what I'd do, and he extended his spear, forcing me to move to the side to dodge. As I dodged, he took the time to pull his fist back before slamming his fist into my face.

Blood fell from my nose as I felt a surge of pain in my face.

"Valier, if you don't break those chains and take me seriously. You'll die. I know you were considering breaking them to fight me properly, but you thought I wasn't worth it right? I'll make you regret..?"

As he spoke, I had already closed the distance and grabbed his face. It was rather awkward using one hand to grab his face while the other sort of dangled beside his face.

My grip on his face tightened as I lifted him up, and then I slammed his body into the ground with all my strength, causing the mix of sand and dirt below us to jump.

Then, something surprising happened. Leon spoke.

"The hell have they been feeding you? You aren't meant to be able to do shit like this without a physique or Mana."

Then, I heard a rustling in the bushes and saw that my group had finally come. 

"Ah, you three are here? You guys are on clean up duty, there's a couple guys here who I didn't get to finish off or who just weren't worth my time. They're yours. Call me if there's any issues."

Then, I felt Leon place both of his hands on my face.

"You let go of your spear?"

Leon then pressed against my hand, he pushed against it and used an almost uncanny amount of strength to force my hand off his face.

I smiled as he pried my hand off his face.

"Leon, have you been working out? Actually, ignore that. How the hell are you conscious? I thought that my initial take down would've been enough." 

"Have I been working out? I should be saying that to you, I can barely move your hand. The hell happened to that skinny and sickly kid from all those years ago?"

Then, he launched a rather odd kick at me, forcing me to move on to one side. From there, one of his legs wrapped around my throat and the other around my torso. All of this happened while he had my arms under lock and key.

After a bit of movement, he finally had me in an arm bar which was something I wasn't expecting. 

"VALIER, HAND PLEASE?"

I heard a shout for help, as I noticed my group was being overwhelmed by the number of enemies. I noticed that one of my group member's bodies was on the floor, a sword had pierced her stomach and she was laying on the floor.

Angelica and Dante were fighting for their lives.

'Shit. My team's fucked.'

I then stood up at an alarming speed for someone in an arm bar. Leon still had his arms around mine, and his legs on my throat and torso. I then moved to my team rather slowly and started using Leon as a weapon, using him to bludgeon anything in my path.

"WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK ARE YOU DOING??"

Leon screamed, as I used him as some sort of baseball bat. 

"You two run, take her with you if she's still alive... Wait? What's this?"

I said, as I looked at my waist. There was a dart in my side. 

Then, without warning, a second came flying and pierced my neck. I felt my strength leaving my body. 

"Poison."

I looked as my group ran away, carrying the body of our wounded teammate.

Then, I felt another dart enter my arm. I had been hit with a total of 3 doses, I felt my strength drain away from me.

I looked at Leon, disappointed, but the look on his face told me that this wasn't what he had hoped for. But, it seemed like he had known of this plan and was the cornerstone of it.

I felt energy slowly leave my body, my sight began to fog up. I noticed that Leon had let go of me and created space between us.

Then, I felt a presence behind me, I turned around and saw it, hair so black and eyes so dark that I could never mistake them for anyone else's. 

"Luna Valkyr?"

I had forgotten about her entirely. It was my fault for forgetting about someone like her, I had overlooked a genius. 

I fought to stay awake, I knew that I had been poisoned, however, the poison was sure to be rather mild considering it would've been made from whatever she could've found in this place. And, once the poison's effects wore off, there would be two things that could happen.

I either awoke, or I would stay unconscious. Me and unconsciousness have had a bit of a strange relationship, so letting myself pass out wasn't an option. Last time I let myself pass out in a battlefield I had fought while unconscious, and my self restraint in that state was non existent.

I took a step towards Luna, I knew she'd have some sort of antidote In case something went wrong, that's how she was. Each was painful, blood fell from my nose and eyes. 

When I approached her, I felt Leon's arm wrap around my throat. I couldn't feel anything as Luna stabbed another dart into my thigh. 

"Valier, you're just too strong. In every plan I thought of, there wasn't a single one where I could find a way to get past you. That inhuman physical strength of yours can't be beat. Not by conventional means anyways. When we fought in the entrance exam, I had a feeling that for the most part, you were relying on pure physical ability."

I looked back at Leon who looked a bit sad.

"My bad, Valier, I had to agree with this plan, or else I wouldn't have been able to fight you in the first place. I'll let you take a shot at me later or something."

"Leon, choke him out. We can't have him awake for too long, who knows how fast this freak will recover and to what extent he'll recover."

"I'm trying, but he won't pass out."

Then, Luna drew a knife and walked to me.

"In that case I'll-"

Leon stood up and let me go, placing me on the floor, he stood before her.

"You won't. I'll make him pass out, that's what we agreed on."

"Leon, are you telling me, you want me to let a threat even greater than Artorius live? I need to put him down before he does anything to jeopardize our win."

Leon approached her and slapped the knife out of her hand.

"I'd appreciate it if you stopped talking about him as if he were an animal, and do you really think I'll let you kill him?"

"You make no sense, but I guess it's fine… I have other things to do."

Luna backed off, she didn't seem to want any more trouble.

And with that, Luna walked away, when she was out of ear shot, Leon crouched down.

"I made sure you wouldn't die, in return, when you wake up, let the side that Irene warned us about out. Fight me... fight us at your best. Also, sorry. But this is the only way I'll see your full power. You're not the type to show off your entire deck, and while that's fine, I want to see how strong you'll be if you really try to kill us in this ability deprived state."

Before he turned away, he broke my chains.

"Show me your strongest self today, I'll get rid of the rest of your team, they'll only hold you back."

And so he walked away, I tried to stay awake as best as I could, as I lay there, immoble.
