1 Chapter 1 - Death

A/N: I reccomend getting to around chapter 21 ish before deciding to read on or not, that's when the story picks up. The stuff before is pretty good, but it's nothing compared to chapter 21 and onwards. Everything before 21 I'd build up, background and information etc. Either way, I hope you enjoy!

I felt a sword sink into my liver, I coughed up some blood. I reached for the man who has stabbed me and I gripped his throat with all my might, I used my 'Corruption' attribute to make his body crumble away. But before I could do anything, an arrow hit me in the leg, the shock made me drop the man before I could finish him off. The pain wasn't too bad, or rather, I had suffered so much pain to the point where wounds like these felt like they weren't there.

I the felt something prick my neck, blood flowed from my eyes and my nose.

'Poison?-'

I reached for the man who had hit my neck but before I could do that, a woman rushed in and sliced my arm clean off with a Katana. My right arm fell to the ground with a gentle 'plop.'

I looked at my arm, I had lost all the flesh from my hands up to my elbows. I used Aura to force my muscles to contract to slow down the blood loss.

I was currently fighting an elite group of fighters known as 'The Zero Squad.' They had been accompanied by an army, and they had jumped me when I had finished off the aforementioned army. The drug that 'The Organisation' had used on me made it so my body obeyed, but I was free to think. They had also used brainwashing techniques to make me obey a certain few people.

But that didn't matter, the only thing I wanted to do right now was survive. I could tell that I had been poisoned heavily, my Aura flow had been significantly slowed. I forced my Aura into my hands and touched the ground, then the ground began to crumble away, bits of land that had been stable started collapsing. The surrounding birds started falling and some nearby trees started rotting away and falling.

My Corruption Attribute could make things decay, for living things it directly destroyed the cells while for non living objects it split apart the atoms and destroyed the object on a molecular level. Well, that was the theory, it was a Unique Attribute so no one knew much about it, but how it worked didn't matter. All that mattered was the destructive capabilities it possessed.

As the ground split apart a man dressed in all black came forth, he wielded two daggers, he threw one at me. I used my Aura to shield myself, the dagger managed to pierce through due to the poison weakening my Aura. I heard a light twang before a flurry of arrows descended from the sky, I rolled out of the way but some of the arrows managed to strike me.

I vomited more blood, this poison had likely been developed to destroy me specifically. I smiled, it was kind of an honour to be thought of as such a threat.

"Are you really human? We've used enough poison to make thousands of people die instantly, but you're still able to use Aura? What the fuck are you?"

The woman with the Katana spoke, I looked at her, she had blonde hair and blue eyes that shone beautifully. She was beautiful, I had nearly gone blind due to the poison but even then, her beauty was still as apparent as the sky above.

I forced myself to get up, I was a soldier, not by choice but that wasn't important. What I wished for hasn't mattered before, and it wouldn't matter when I was about to die. But even if I knew that, I still wanted to put up a fight, not to follow orders but to do something because I wanted to do it. It was me trying to have even the smallest bit of freedom over what happened in my life.

The Katana user stepped forward, her hair gently swayed back and forth in sync with the breeze.

"By the looks of it, he's only 14 or 15 at the oldest, 'those' fucking bastards are using children as soldiers. I'll give him an easy death, it's the least I can do."

Another member of her team chuckled a bit before speaking.

"Aren't you 16? You're barely older than him."

Both of us ignored the man and got into a stance, I used 'Flash Step.' It was a move that let me dash forward at a monstrous speed, the ground cracked beneath me, as I charged forth I gathered Aura in my left arm, the woman went straight for my neck. I landed a blow on the side of her body before she could cut my neck and sent her flying.

I jumped into the air and enhanced my left leg, I got ready to kick as I sped down at the ground. The blonde woman then dissapeared from my sight, I then decided to preserve my Aura and decided to land safely.

Then I felt something, years of fighting and killing had given me inhuman reaction speeds and strong instincts. Every cell in body told me to dodge the next blow and I did so, I dashed backwards as fast as I could. Then a gust of wind was released along with a huge shockwave, I looked at the destroyed terrain, there were random holes in the ground, many bits of land had been uprooted and on top of that a large patch of land had been completely eradicated. If an attack like that was used near a city, the entire place would evaporate.

I dashed towards her and kicked her stomach, I sent her flying into a nearby tree, she coughed up some blood before releasing her Katana.

"You're... you're adapting to the poison already?"

'She's noticed huh?'

If she had used that attack on me before, I'd have died, but with my 'Corruption Attribute' I can decompose things on a molecular level. That includes poisons.

"Unfortunately for you, we already planned for that."

The woman's eyes shone a bright fiery blue, they were eyes filled with rage and sorrow. But most of all, determination.

I was mesmerised by her eyes, they reminded me of someone but I couldn't remember who...

As I was lost in my thoughts, I felt several weapons and needles stab into me. The pain was excruciating, it was as if my body was being torn apart cell by cell. Blood came out of my eyes, ears, nose and almost every orifice in my body. I focused everything I could on regeneration and decomposing the poisons, I looked at the woman one last time, my eyes widened.

I forced my body to move forward, I trudged towards her, at one point my left leg stopped working so I had to limp onwards. Just as I reached her my other leg stopped working so I used my remaining arm to crawl towards her.

"I-it's you isn't it?-"

Tears steamed down my face, I couldn't remember her name but I knew her, she was a person who was a fellow Child Soldier. We fought in the war, however she dissapeared, I never would've guessed that she'd join the resistance.

I felt myself regaining my strength, my legs and arm started twitching, with a minute I was on my feet again. The brainwashing started forcing my body to move forward, the drugs did the same. You may wonder why I can't decompose the drugs, it's because my body naturally creates them due to a surgery I was forced to undergo, as such my Corruption Attribute doesn't recognise it as a foreign object and won't 'attack' it.

"Y-you damn monster- I don't know who you are but I need to kill you?-"

I forced my body to stop healing, I stopped fighting against the poison and I let myself fall. I couldn't bring myself to kill her...

I fell down right next to her, I smiled at her bitterly, my body was likely going to give out soon.

"W-wait, why are you? Who are?-"

She spoke, tears poured out of her eyes, they dropped on to my cheek.

I smiled at her once again, I honestly couldn't bring myself to kill her, she was the only reason I knew what emotions were.

When I looked at her one more time, her eyes widened and more tears streamed down her face. I reached for her face but my hand crumbled away before I could do so.

She gently lifted my head and placed it on her lap, she stroked my head softly.

"It's you... isn't it? You never told me your name last time, but it's a bit late now isn't it? I'm... sorry, it must hurt a lot right? I wish I could have saved you..."

While she was speaking, my body was constantly trying to heal itself, I started destroying my own cells. If if was the current her she'd be taken by surprise if I attacked her, I couldn't allow a situation where she died.

I started taking apart my liver, kidneys and other organs to weaken myself.

'Just please... don't regenerate.'

I forced my own body to destroy itself, but at the same time my body tried to regenerate. I didn't even have the freedom to choose when to give up. How pathetic was that?

I looked up at the blonde woman, I had long forgotten her name but even then, I felt a 'bond' with her, and honestly I didn't want to kill the one person who I had a bond with.

"Please kill me."

She looked at me before grabbing her Katana, she then swiftly decapitated me. The attack was painless, I couldn't even feel any pain. It was ironic, I was feeling a sense of tranquility when I was dying. Everything moved in slow motion as I looked at her one more time, she mouthed the words 'I'm so sorry.'

After that. Everything went dark.
