Chapter 3

I looked at her once more, I then realised that there was something around her. It was like an energy, it was similar to Aura.

I then realised that it was Mana, this world's main energy and power source. It seemed that my body had stepped back because of how strong she was, my father was just as strong but he was good at restraining himself.

"Not a bad reaction, most kids would freeze up. I suppose it's to be expected of Lucas' son. That was just a wave of Mana by the way, it won't cause any real damage."

My eyes widened slightly, she said Lucas, not 'His Grace' that either meant that she was his friend, or someone who had enough power to be of similar standing to him.

But what really mattered was that this body was so weak that a wave of Mana was a threat that made me respond by stepping back. Well even if my mind was that of The Reaper's, it was still housed within this weak, infantile body.

"Alright then time for some quick introductions , I am Aurora Gladius. The daughter of Earl Gladius, normally I teach exclusively at the academy, but your Father is an acquainte of mine and I owe him a favour."

I looked at her while forcing a smile, I didn't have the energy for her but I needed to learn the basics of Mana. And she was no normal teacher, but Aurora Gladius, a glorified monster. She was a teacher at the academy, she was the main characters teacher and mentor.

Without warning, she placed her hand on my forehead, and suddenly I felt a surge of foreign energy run through my body. It was relaxing, the energy seemed to have no hostility so I didn't resist and just let it flow through me.

As the energy flowed through me she spoke, "That's what Mana feels like, try to remember this feeling when you sense it. Sit down somewhere and relax."

I did as she asked of me and sat down on the floor and sat cross legged in a meditating position and relaxed my body.

"Normally you would relax and focus on dv

I did as she said and kept trying to sense the Mana around us but failed over and over. Nearly 3 hours had passed since the class started, but Aurora didn't seem annoyed by how long I needed. I didn't know why I found sensing it so difficult, I was a master at using Aura in the past, so this should've been easy enough.

"Alright that's enough for today, normally it takes two or four months to sense Mana and form a Mana core. But there are monsters like her highness Angelica who do it in three weeks. And for the record I didn't say that."

She then left, I went straight to bed after the maids washed and clothed me.

After that first lesson, my days were boring to say the least, I kept training in Mana and learning the ways of nobles.

And just like that five weeks had passed.

In that time, I had noticed that Lillian was slowly starting to become sadder and sadder. The time to act was nearing, all I had to do was to start getting closer to her. But even if I did bring her on to my side, I still had to break the other death flags that were to come.

Reinhardt's death was often used to make an opening for the main character, in one specific story line. Assassins had come to try and kill Angelica Godhart, the Princess of the empire. This all happened when Reinhardt was meeting her, and he was the one who was killed instead of her. And she was completely traumatised about it and felt a sense of lingering guilt, feelint that it was her fault that Reinhardt had died since the assassins came for her.

The main character helped her get over her trauma and then she fell in love with him. Angelica was a monster, she was the most talented Godhart in the past few centuries. She had learned how to use Mana in three weeks, like I said earlier, it'd normally take two to four months to do that.

I wasn't sure how my talent would stack up to her own, but there wasn't any real way to find out since in most routes Reinhardt had died and even if he didn't. he had ended up as a completely fucked up person who had joined a cult and was promptly killed, or he was crippled while trying to save someone, he had basically died from everything at least once or had suffered a fate just as bad or worse than death.

There were only a few days until my first meeting with Angelica, it was well known that I would be meeting her. This was to make sure the other nobles knew that the Avalon and Godhart families were still working together, the Godharts were the Holy Church's leaders and figureheads.

They possessed the bloodline of the Angels, a race on par with the Dragons. As descendants of Angels, most people on the continent agreed that they were the rightful heads of the church. But that wasn't enough to keep them at top of the empire and church, it was their unimaginable influence that kept them there.

They had connections that stretched far and wide, and the current emperor was someone who's power was on par with my father's. Kevin Godhart, the current emperor, he was a person who only the most of people could even meet.

I shuddered at the thought of him, even at the peak of my power I wouldn't be able to match him. The people in this world far outclassed the people in my world, this world also had technology similar to ours. Planes, boats and even phones existed. They ran on mana which was basically the cleanest form of energy out there, but weapons like guns just didn't work on people in this world.

A person at Mana Class 9 would basically be bullet proof, and people at Mana Class 2 like Lucas and Kevin could topple cities with ease. As such, modern weapons became useless, however things like Artifacts were different. But they were rare and hard to use, and sometimes they'd harm the user.

As such, people used magic items if they wanted to use a weapon and things like swords and spears were used as they worked well with Mana enhanced combat.

I normally fought with my hands or a sword, but right now I had to learn how to use Mana and form a Mana core. Aurora had taught me that a Mana core was what help our Mana and it was what we used to absorb raw Mana from the atmosphere and cleanse it.

Mana from the atmosphere couldn't be used directly as it was poisonous.

The way to form a Mana core was simple enough, first you had to sense the Mana. And then you would start absorbing fragments of Mana, and slowly they'd form a core on their own.

I had another class with Aurora today, we did the usual. I sat down in a meditating position and tried to sense the Mana around us, It was a truly arduous task.

Then an imaginary light bulb was lit above my head.

'Wait, why was I trying to sense it like this? In the past, Aura was a weapon and a tool to me. Nothing more and nothing less, I've been treating Mana as if it were something mystical. But at the end of the day, its just another tool that'll be used to kill.'

With that in mind, I started focusing on the Mana, then a surge of Mana flowed into my body. It was rampaging within me, I felt like I was going to collapse but I felt like this was something I couldn't fall to. I persevered through it all, there was a heat in my chest which was slowly turning into pain.

My mind could ignore it but my body seemed to be nearing its limits. I felt the Mana forming into a core, the Mana finally stopped rampaging and finally calmed down.

Aurora looked at me completely flabbergasted,

"A Mana Core? Already?"

Aurora looked at me, seemingly studying my body.

"You're at the very start of Mana Class 10, we can really start training you from now on."
