1 Awakening of a Myth.

Dragon Deus millions of years ago was a very dangerous place. The Age of Myth's was called as such because it was a time when Legendary beings were commonplace. There was no place for the weak during such an era, only the ones willing to be merciless, cruel, unfeeling, and remorseless had a chance at survival.

Even common people could become strong enough to wipe out continents if they so desired. As long as they were willing to pursue power, just about anyone had a chance. But more often than not, only the best made it as that journey was more than often fatal.

Mages of every classification were effectively gods, being able to control existence to their whims. Mythical Beasts like Dragons reached levels of power incomparable. Gods of every type were free to indulge in their every desire as no laws controlled them.

Numerous humanoid races had countless empires with humanity being just one of them. Planets did not go by logic and could be even bigger than stars and stars combusting magic were nearly endless.

Even beings who reached the heights of power where they could shatter entire planets with a single blow reigned. One such god was The Chaos God Khorne. The Blood God. The Lord of Skulls, Lord of Rage, Lord of Blood, and Taker of Skulls.

He came to be from the aftermath of a battle to the death between an Ancient  Vampire Dragon and a War Demon. When both creatures killed each other in their battle, their resentments, souls, and magic pooled under the ground for countless millennia before manifesting in the form of the Blood God Khorne.

The newly formed Chaos God immediately began a bloody War Path. Every being he battled had their skulls claimed and their blood drained to fuel his power. Those that faced him in honorable combat and impressed him would join his growing army.

Those who used dishonorable magics were butchered and had their souls consumed. None were spared when the Blood God and his army went to war, other gods, Legendary Beasts, Magicians, Demons, Angels, Heroes, elves, humans, and the races.

Khorne was happy as a fight was always brewing, even his bloody Wars were just common things. But, that began to change slowly over time. So slowly that no one noticed the Age of Myths, experienced tragedies.

The mana available began to reduce ever more slowly, creatures began to go extinct, and Empires that spawned countless millennia began to collapse seemingly overnight. Mages went into hiding, and Earthen gods began to stop appearing.

The only way new gods could appear was for them to be born. This resulted in weaker gods which led to more issues not less. Seers cried that it was the end of an Era, but Khorne did not listen. He believed them to be nothing more than the ramblings of foolish mages.

But, slowly, his army began to experience issues. His soldiers once paragons of boundless strength began to weaken. The Mythical Beasts in his forces began to die, Khorne hated to admit it, but even he was losing his strength.

If before he had nearly boundless strength, it began to drain from him. He did not understand it and did everything he could to halt his weakening. But, he could only slow it down, but not stop it.

His rivals whom he had faced for so long began to seal themselves away, and eventually, the End came. Seemingly overnight, the Age of Myths ended, and with it ended the era of The Chaos God Khorne. -Or so the oldest surviving records kept by Ancient tomes say.

---

In the Modern Age, almost no one knows the Age of Myths even happened. Very few tomes or records survived from that era even fewer beings who lived there made it. However, unearthing knowledge or artifacts from that era is of top importance. As many beings sealed themselves away, searching for these realms is done by all factions.

Currently, one such expedition is being undertaken. In Romania in 1930, a single Ancient Tome containing clues about one such realm. The languages from the Age of Myths were nearly incomprehensible, but the scribes of the Carmila Family of Vampires managed to decipher a few clues.

The clues spoke of a realm of Blood and Skulls where a 'Vampire god' had sealed themselves away. This was in fact false as it was a mistranslation of the language in the tome. As such, using the tome as a guide they began to search for the Realm of this Vampire.

Currently, a large group of 50 vampires was gathered. They were all armored to the teeth in fully encasing black armor. Leading them was a female vampire who was not wearing such armor and instead wore Noble attire.

She had pale white hair, red eyes, and porcelain white skin. The Noble Vampire leading them was using the Tome they had found as a guide. Currently, they were in a pocket Dimension where the realm of this Vampire God was sealed.

The Noble stopped as she looked over the Tome, a bloody thing seemingly made from bloody skin. It constantly leaked blood, but no one dared to drink it. One such vampire had become a Berserk monster and had to be put down.

Instead, they began to study this blood to see how they could make use of it in Alchemy which was not progressing.

"I believe that we are nearly there."

The Noble traced her gloved hand over a page they had painstakingly translated. This Tome led them here, and it would also lead them to a proper Vampire God. A being that no Vampire had become in forever.

She took a deep breath as she channeled her mana into the Tome. This caused it to begin to radiate a bloody aura and the symbol on the front seemed to burn red in rage. She was glad that the Artifacts they all wore meant to reduce how badly they were affected by the Tome.

Lucretia began to speak reading the translated chant to open the Secret Realm.

"May the Lord of Blood and Skulls reign once more. May your rage know no bounds, may you cleave the skulls of your foes, may the Skull Throne grow once more. May your followers go to war in your name once more. Lead us to your Realm, oh Lord of Blood and Skulls."

When the chant was finished, she and the vampires waited patiently as the Secret Realm began to open. A bloody glow began to appear in the Secret Dimension as they all tensed as a bloody portal was ripped open.

"Follow me."

The vampires walked into the realm where Khorne had sealed himself. When they crossed over, they closed their eyes before opening them. They did not know what to expect, but when they opened them they saw countless corpses.

No, skeletons which were scattering the land, some looked humanoid, but others clearly belonged to beasts. The ground was a dark red seemingly made of red soil. Lucretia kneeled down and grabbed a handful of the dirt before sniffing it.

"Blood, this has a faded smell of blood."

One of the Vampires walked away from the formation before picking up a sword. It was a large sword that had a very rusted look. The blade was a large jagged thing that looked less for slicing and more for causing pain.

But when the vampire touched it, the sword began to crumble to dust. Lucretia walked to a giant skull, just the skull was 20 meters long. It looked to be that of a horned bovine of some kind. She reached out and touched the skull, but it did not fall apart.

When she did so, her magic was drawn into the skull in droves without allowing her to draw her hand back. But before she could panic she managed to pull her hand away in fear. In one of the eye sockets a small red fire lit up.

The vampires backed away drawing their weapons at the skull. A tired chuckle came from the skull as the fire in its eye moved as if looking at each one of them.

"Why have you disturbed the resting place of Khorne?"

Lucretia walked forward as she held up the Tome.

"I don't know who or what you are, but we came to search for Khorne. The Vampire God."

The skull remained silent before speaking.

"For what purpose would such weaklings search for the Blood God?"

Choosing to ignore the insult, Lucretia spoke up.

"Not one Vampire has ever become a god, and we seek knowledge from such a being."

The skull spoke once more knowing what he would do.

"My soul will be gone soon, it's been too long for anything to be done about that. But I am willing to vanish for my Master. I can awake Lord Khorne for you and even lead you to him."

Lucretia was intrested.

"How?"

"The Tome is the answer. Let these fragments of my soul be fed into the book and it will lead you to the resting place of my master. There, I will be able to wake him up."

Lucretia did not exactly trust this being, but she decided to hear him out.

"How will that work?"

"That Tome was made by us as a Key to unseal us from this realm. It just needs a suitable soul and none is more suitable than mine."

Lucretia did not feel it was safe, but she would make an exception this time. She walked toward the burning eye socket and held out the Tome.

"How do we do this?"

"You don't."

The fire in the eye socket flew into the book causing it to glow brighter before dimming down. When she held the Tome again the voice of the bull creature spoke to her from it.

"The resting place of Khorne is in the center of the realm. Go west."

Holding the Tome tight they began to traverse the realm of Khorne. But everywhere they went, skeletons of every kind littered the ground. Melee weapons of every kind were piled high in giant hills, and the ground was cracked dry.

Lucretia asked the soul in the Tome a question.

"What happened here?"

"The end. When the Age of Myths came to an end, Lord Khorne made the hard decision to seal himself away with his army. He fell into slumber, and while we awaited his return, we slowly began to weaken.

One by one the mightiest of us weakened and died. We also fell into hibernation to hold out longer, but time is cruel. Even me, once known for my boundless endurance reduced to a small wisp of soul."

Lucretia was curious about something.

"The Tome said the followers of Khorne were full of rage. You seem calm."

"Unlike my Master, my rage sputtered out. I had many ages to think, now, my only goal in life is to bring back my master."

After traversing the Secret Realm for hours, they eventually arrived at a giant crumbling citadel of blackened Brass. The main gate had fallen off it's hinges so the Vampires walked through.

The moment they did, they were met with a terrifying sight. Sitting slack on a giant throne of skulls sat a figure clad in blackened armor of brass. The figure was hundreds of feet tall and even like this radiated a ferocious aura of rage.

The Vampires were in awe before the Tome in Lucretia's hands shot out of her hands. It flew over to the slack figure of Khorne before the cackling laugh of the Bull filled the ears of the vampires.

"My master, your servant Doombreed is here to awaken you. My very soul is the price I pay."

The soul of the Bull was devoured and converted into energy by the Tome. The book shot up and a ray of ionizing red energy shot into the chest of the slumbering Chaos God. When this happened, energy began to flow through Khorne once more.

His clawed gauntleted hands began to tense before he began to sit up on his throne. He collapsed countlessly. An aura of boundless rage radiated from him as Khorne himself awoke from his slumber spanning millions of years.

A being of Myth's had awakened. Before Lucretia or her Vampires could speak, they were all impalled by black spears killing them. Khorne held his hand out as the blood and souls of the vampires were devoured by him.

He was hungry.
