Barbados Island

In a world where there is war for supremacy between werewolves and vampires.

Two great empires claiming for world domination.

While most of the humans were unaware of the great war between two great empires.

A world divided into three continents.

Every continent of the world is ruled upon differently.

In Western Region, the empire of vampires had complete control over the western continent of the world.

In Eastern Region, the empire of werewolves were the ones taking over the eastern continent of the world.

But in Central Continent, the largest land mass area of the world is populated by humans.

Unaware of the supernatural nature of the two great empires.

Masking their supernatural background from the majority of the population in central continent.

Leaving the two empires compete for total domination in the central region.

The approach of werewolves was to assimilate and blend in amongst the humans.

Compared to the approach of vampires, which was more violent.

Using brute force and slavery.

For this reason, the western continent was sanctioned to be off-limits for humans and for the central continent to close their borders from the western continent.

Despite the sanctions and combined forces, the vampires continued to rampage and raid on the coastal area of the central region.

Wreaking a lot of havoc around the territory of the humans.

Some humans were aware of the existence of the supernatural creatures.

Enabling them to establish an association of family of hunters that will protect humans from the impending threat brought by these supernatural creatures.

Having higher and executive positions in the government of the central continent.

Though there were a lot of places that were too far from the grasp or radar of the hunters association.

Putting other innocent lives in a vulnerable state.

Just like the humans living in the Barbados Island.

The Island of Barbados is a remote island located in between the western region and the Central Region.

People living in the Barbados Island lived through the rich natural resources of their island which has varieties of fruits and vegetation field. The island even has its own large fishing port which showcases the richness of fish resources around the island.

An abundant source of living for all islanders.

Residences of the Barbados Island treated the island as the paradise island which they did not have to leave the island because their island was already filled with abundant resources for them to live with.

The former chief of the island was Rain's parents. They died during a trip to capital city of the Central Continent. His parents were supposedly to visit some friends in the Central Continent to register their island under the government's protection from looming threat around them.

Though, weeks after their voyage, it was found out that the ship of the former chief had a shipwreck along with his wife, leaving Rain as an orphan at the age of 3. Only few members survived the shipwreck who were able to inform others about the tragedy that happened.

After 18 years since the ill-fated tragedy of Rain's parents, the orphaned boy has become a refined young man who is loved by the children and by his townsfolk.

He helped in managing the orphanage of their island.

Known to everyone for having an energetic and bubbly personality.

Beaming with rays of positivity and vibrant energy.

Rain was known as the most intelligent and most-loving young man in the island who is adored by everyone. He reads a lot of navigation and geography books that makes him an adept in the knowledge of navigation. His biggest dream was to travel to the capital city and visit the Royal Palace.

There were world newspaper that being brought by visiting foreign human traders to their island which allows them to know what was going on currently in the world.

Many teenage girls were mesmerized by the gorgeous looks of Rain.

His lean yet well-toned built and wavy platinum blonde hair even makes the young single women in the island gush over his presence.

"Have you seen him?"

"He is by the market! Buying some stuff and doing errands for the mother superior."

"Is he with that crazy beyotch?"

"You mean Jeanelle? The girl that keeps tagging along with him?"

On his visit to market, Rain was unaware that he has become the topic of the gossip of his admirers.

Walking along with Rico and Jeanelle.

His childhood friends.

Rico was the best friend of Rain whom he grew up with. A black haired dude with tanned muscular body.

They passed through the market with a lot of prying eyes following them.

As soon as they finished their errand, they immediately went back to the orphanage.

Orphan children were all rushing over Rain.

The platinum blonde haired Rain started to tell the children, "WAIT! WAIT! I bought sweets for everyone. So no need to fight over."

"All of you, scram! We still need to report to mother superior." Jeanelle reprimanded the kids.

Excited to have the sweets which Rain promised to them.

"Awww!!" All the kids whined and complained because they wanted to have some sweets and chocolates badly.

"Do not worry! I will give it to everyone after dinner. We need to talk with mother superior first."

"You mean grown up talk?" one of the kids asked Rain.

"Yes! It is a grown up talk, so be good little angels and read your stories for tomorrow's story telling. Whoever finishes most stories, I will choose his or her personal choice to read for tomorrow. How about that?" Rico helped Rain in convincing the kids.

"Yeah! Grown up talk! Hihi~" Rain smiled at the kids as they began to disperse.

"Both of you are just too good with kids! How do you two do it?" Jeanelle asked her two friends.

The three of them were the most senior in the orphanage.

"Hey! It is not easy, let's just say we have our own magical ways with kids. And you are too grumpy for them. That's why they are scared of you!" Rain teased Jeanelle for being too strict and serious.

Compared to Rain and Rico who were free-spirited and more gentle with their approach.

The whole afternoon was spent in meeting with the elders of the island and chief.

Mother superior of the orphanage hosted the meeting in her conference room.

Rain witnessed the whole general meeting which concerns about the recent attacks and random raids from other islands.

Hearing news that their island may become victims of these raids if they do not become vigilant and protect their island from certain attacks.

Everyone was concerned with the safety of the island so everyone agreed that effectively tomorrow the chief will travel to the capital city to seek assistance from the government so everyone could be protected.

At the meantime, all adult men will have to do shifts at night and volunteer in patrols.

For the security of everybody.

All the members of that general meeting agreed with what was discussed including Rain was worried and concerned for the safety of everyone.

Right after the meeting, mother superior called for the three.

With Rico being the eldest, he represented the three in the queries of their mother superior.

"So, how was your trip to the market?" Mother Superior asked.

"As usual, Rain was gaining attention. Having a lot of admirers here and there. hehe!" Rico put Rain on the spot.

"Hey!" Rain complained at Rico's teasing.

Jeanelle giggled at the words of Rico.

Rico blushed at the sound of Jeanelle's giggles.

"Enough you two… So, after dinner… Rico and Rain… the two of you must go for the first shift of the night. I was told by the chief that the two of you will volunteer for tonight." The mother superior went directly with her instructions and reminders.

She added, "It's a big responsibility and the two of you must have enough energy for the late night shift."

The two nodded along.

Mother superior dismissed everyone after giving her instructions for the night.

Jeanelle was tasked to look after the younger ones while the two will be away for their shift.

The dinner went on smoothly.

With loud and playful kids rushing towards Rain.

Receiving their sweets and chocolates.

Wind of the night became cold and ominous for Rain. He was sitting by the balcony of the orphanage while sipping his hot coffee with his best friend Rico and a young boy named Angelo.

"Hey! What are you staring at? Spacing out much?" Rico asked Rain in curiosity.

Rain was holding his necklace with the initials, 'R & R'…

Symbolizes Rain and Rico, for their everlasting friendship.

"I could not shake off this feeling that there is something bad that is bound to happen!" Rain's reply to his best friend.

"Stop spouting non-sense!" Rico told Rain.

Then, he looked around if Jeanelle was around.

Seeing Angelo asleep on the couch, he felt safe to confess something to Rain.

Rain noticed the strange behavior of Rico.

"What's wrong? What do you have to say?" Rain became nervous at what Rico had to say.

All these times, Rain was never interested with anyone except for one person.

He also had a secret that he couldn't tell Rico because of his fear to ruin what they had.

Holding his necklace tighter.

His heart racing and beating faster.

Anxiously waiting for what Rico had to say to him.

"Ummm… I don't know how to say this…" Rico was clearly nervous.

He continued, "I think am in love with…"

Rain waited more anxiously.

"With… JEANELLE!"

The mention of Jeanelle's name, Rain felt a stab on his heart.

Finding out that the one he has feelings for… is in love with someone else.

Rain faked a smile.

Pretending to be alright.

That he was not affected.

Acting like he was happy for Rico.

"I am happy for you, dude! When are you going to tell her?" Rain curiously asked.

"Soon! I hope tomorrow after breakfast. What do you think?" Rico sought for Rain's advice.

Rain had no choice but to be happy for his best friend.

He could not ruin the friendship and everything he has with his best friend.

Before he could respond to his best friend, Angelo woke up.

"I want to pee!" Angelo uttered.

Rain looked inside through the window and the toilet was currently occupied by the other children.

"I guess let's do it by the woods." Rain told Angelo.

Immediately Angelo went to Rain and held his hand.

The curly blonde haired 6 years old boy took his teddy bear blanket with him.

"Let's talk about it again later." Rico remarked to Rain.

Fortunately, Rain was able to escape further torture.

Angelo wondered why they were going farther than they were supposed to.

Unknown to Angelo, Rain wanted to have some more space to vent his pain away.

Having not to deal such stress and heart ache.

Covering his face.

Preventing his tears to fall and keeping his pain from exposure.

After Angelo peed on the tree, he saw Rain sad and trying his best to be okay.

"Why are you sad, Rain?" Angelo wondered.

Feeling bad for Rain.

Amongst all people, Rain was like a big brother and guardian to Angelo.

Instantly, Rain made an excuse that he was alright.

But Angelo would not accept it.

"I thought lying is bad. There's no one around. It's okay not to be okay! No one will judge you here." Angelo told Rain.

Genuinely caring for Rain.

Then, emotions began to pour out from Rain's heart.

Tears fell…

Sobbing…

Fear of not being accepted by those people around him…

All he could do was release it all out and ask for a hug.

Even his tears were falling, Rain tried his best to smile.

"Can I have some hug?" Rain requested from Angelo.

Innocently, Angelo went closer and gave Rain a big hug.

But the truth is… Rain doesn't want Angelo to see him crying.

For Rain, he doesn't want Angelo to see him pour it all out.

The tears of pain.

That all he was to Rico… was just a friend.

Accepting the reality that he can never be someone as more than friend… to Rico.

Suddenly, a huge explosion was heard at the port.

Getting the attention of Rain.

Seeing huge flames and smoke from afar.

"Stay here! Hide in the bush." Rain gave orders to Angelo.

He added, "DO NOT COME OUT, UNLESS IT'S ME!"

"Do you understand?" Rain reiterated to little Angelo.

Angelo nodded.

"I am scared… Rain!"

"Don't worry! Everything will be alright. I will get back soon but for now… you stay here, okay?"

"Okay!"

Rain hugged Angelo.

And the young boy immediately went to the bush to hide.

Instead of bringing Angelo with him, he made sure that the young boy will be alright and kept him away from any potential danger.

Rain ran as fast as he could.

Rushing towards the orphanage first.

To check if everyone was alright.

The moment he reached back to the orphanage.

He saw someone laying down to the ground.

When he thought things could get any worse.

The sight of someone covered in blood.

Barely recognizable.

"R-Rico?"
