14 She Spilled Everything

Alex's POV:

My head hurt a lot as I got dressed and got ready to go to work. There was no need to stay in bed because time was money.

I already recovered from the allergy, and with some pills, I will feel strong again. There was a knock at the door, and I frowned. Why did she have to knock before coming in?

I pulled the door open and was surprised to see an unfamiliar lady standing there with a tray of food.

"Who are you?" I asked, and she shivered in fear before staring down.

"Maid," she replied, so she was the maid Bruno found for my sister, but why was she the one serving me?

"Get lost," I scolded angrily. A moment ago, I thought Olivia had softened up to me, seeing that she had made breakfast, but she sent a maid to bring my food, meaning she didn't want to see me. I was willing to give her everything so she could love me, but she was making things difficult. No matter what, I don't regret marrying her.

I picked up my car keys and phone before walking downstairs, and as I walked downstairs, I noticed Olivia's confused gaze on me.

"You are going to work?" she asked, and I was too angry to reply.

"Mr. Bennett, what about your breakfast?" She asked again, but I ignored her and hurried by the car. I wasn't strong enough to drive myself. "Take me to the office," I ordered before getting into the car, and he walked in and drove away.

"Mr. President, the young Miss called, and her plane will land in a few hours." Bruno said, and I nodded. I thought she would be coming tomorrow. It's been a long time since I met with my sister, and it's also been more than a week since I called. She was going to throw a tantrum.

"Did you fix the elevator?" I asked, and he nodded. Luckily, Bruno always had everything planned out.

"And did you find out what Olivia likes?" I asked.

"Yes, sir, I bought a limited bag for her friend Natalie, and she spilled everything out," he said proudly. Natalie must know her well because it seems she is her only friend.

"So what does she like?" I asked, and he chuckled. I raised a brow angrily as he stared at me from the rear view mirror, and then he cleared his throat.

"She said the first thing her friend likes are humble men with less pride," he said, and my lips curled into a smile. Now I see why she can't stand me.

From Olivia's POV:

I sighed heavily and turned to face Ellen. "What happened?" I asked, and she had a pale look.

"I am sorry, maam; he only asked me to leave... I didn't do anything," she said, and I nodded. First, he wasn't feeling well and went to work, then he rejected my food.

"He is unbelievable," I said angrily before walking to the fixed phone to dial Caleb's number. Now that my phone was bad, I could only rely on this.

After filling in the number, I pressed the call button, and it got connected after several rings. "Caleb, it's me," I said.

"I am on my way now." I hung up after he told me he was waiting at the café. I was hungry, and it wouldn't hurt to eat out.

I walked to my bedroom and freshened up.

**

After an hour, I finally arrived at the roadside café. The reason it took me so long to get here was because I had to walk. I didn't have a penny, not even money for a taxi fare.

Immediately after I walked in, I spotted Caleb at the edge of the café and walked towards him.

"Olivia," he said, standing up and hugging me tightly. Not feeling comfortable, I broke the hug.

He glared at me with a sad face. "Am I not permitted to hug you?" he asked.

"That's not it," I said, and he nodded before signaling the waitress, who walked towards us.

"Sandwich and milkshake," he said, and I smiled. He still remembered what I loved having in the morning.

Then he turned toward me. "Does he harm you?" he asked while scanning my body.

"No," I replied, and he nodded before holding my hands.

"You know you mean the world to me, right?" Caleb asked, and I nodded. I know how much he loves me, and that's why we were about to get married. Who would have expected Mr. Bennett to show up with such a proposal?

"Olivia, this man did not only separate us, but he made us lose something important," he said, and I raised a brow, confused by his words.

The waitress placed our meal on the table before leaving. "What else did we lose?" I asked.

"Money, have you forgotten we both used our savings to plan the reception?" He asked, and I sighed. I guess he is facing the same issue as me. But mine was worse because I lost my job and my phone.

"I understand you, but we have to forget about it, right?" I asked, and he frowned.

"I receive little money from my job, but you can help me... The money I make will be used for our future," he said, and I used my index finger to massage my forehead.

What did he mean by I can help him? As we stand now, he is far richer than I am.

"How do you want me to help you? Try to get another job or a promotion. I remembered your boss promised you a promotion if you brought in more clients, so just try," I explained. Caleb was a marketer at a small firm, and his pay wasn't bad.

"Baby," he called, holding my hands tightly.

"Imagine how much I will be paid if I work at Bennett Enterprise," he said, and I laughed hard. How was he going to afford a position at such an enterprise? Wait, does this have anything to do with me?

"Caleb no…" I retracted my hand before biting on my sandwich.

"This is good." I smiled, trying to change the topic.

"Convince Mr. Bennett to hire me," he blurted, and I choked on the milkshake I just drank.

"You are joking, right?" It was obvious he wasn't joking because of the serious look on his face. Was he nuts?

"Oh, so you think my husband will happily hire my ex-fiance?" I asked in disbelief.

"He won't know he is hiring me," he added, and I couldn't believe the words he spouted.
