Chapter 7

Leah drops me in front of my house and I am finally all alone again! I love the peace of my home more than anything else. An empty house with no one waiting to shower me with stupid questions and unnecessary small talks!

This silence, this peace is the best and I don't want to kill my own happiness by dating someone.

Love is a waste of time. It makes you feel like you are the most important person to someone and then leaves you doubting if you deserve love. Tried it once. If I fall in love once again, I would be the biggest fool alive. And I would rather die than make a fool out of myself.

I walk into the house and all the lights switch on automatically. I ask Siri to play Debussy's Claire de Lune as I lay down on the living room's couch. I really love how technology has made our lives so easy and that is why I really want our talks with Wilson Global to go well. Tech is the best business sector right now and will most definitely be in the future. And so, not investing in it would be a shame for Montague Enterprises.

I close my eyes and relax, enjoying the melody filling the house. Music really is the cure to all problems.

Sad? Open your sad playlist and bawl while singing along to them. Happy? Play a tango song and dance away in joy! Tired? Start some relaxing piano music and sleep.

Easy!

Ohh. What did I eat today? I had lunch right?

My stomach is suddenly growling with hunger. I do remember having my lunch today and it is only seven now, so why I feeling so hungry?

I usually have my dinner at around half past eight, and on days I don't, I usually have it really late at night.  But today might be an early exception.

What should I eat? Macaroni? Or, should I order Chinese takeout today?

I weigh my options and dumplings win. My Italian ancestors would surely forgive me for that though.

I ring up the nearest Chinese restaurant and order dumplings, hot and sour soup, and crispy honey fried chicken. The restaurant guy said the delivery would take around 20 minutes and I am already counting seconds pass by.

If there is one thing you need to know about me, it's that I am a big time foodie. I love food more than a hell lot of things in life and I can present a five word long speech on my favorite food. Well choosing one dish as your favorite is literally the hardest thing to do on this planet.

Many would argue there are more difficult things than that, such as running one of the biggest companies in Europe, or understanding the stock market. But believe me, for me, picking a favorite food is the toughest. Even tougher than choosing a favorite parent.

Well I love my dad more. Why? Because he does not nag at me every time we meet just because I am wasting my time dating.

Instead, he tries to divert mum's conversations by bringing up random stuff from my childhood. He literally says the most random stuff, but weirdly, always succeeds in catching mum's attention.

I guess Mr. Montago knows his wife too well. Great for him!

I go my room, take a quick shower, and change into my comfy silk pajamas.

I pick up TV's remote and scroll through Netflix to decide what to watch as I enjoy my delicious dumplings.

I come across a South Korean thriller mystery film called ' Unlocked' and decide to binge watch it.  The door bell suddenly rings and I run to fetch my food.

For the next two hours, I focus on reading the subtitles of the movie.  Why is it so freaking hard to catch up with the speed of the subtitle?

I am done watching the movie and honestly, it was quite good. After cleaning up the area, I carry my files to the office space to finally go through them.

After almost an hour, I approve one of them, and quickly jot down some points about things that needs to be revised on the other.

Before heading to bed, I open my macbook to quickly analyze my investment portfolio. The numbers and charts on the screen look quite great and I am done for the day.

I head to my bed and scroll through some news. Today was another long one. I keep aside my phone and go to sleep...
