1 I like you so...marry me?

A woman was seen hugging the arms of a man. She was wearing a red dress that was just below her knees and matching high heels. Her make-up was heavy with bright red lipstick. On both ears were diamond earrings that stopped at her shoulders and she had a matching necklace.

The man beside her was dressed in a black suit. His hair was neatly styled. He wore a pair of shades. The man had a cold aura. The couple looked at the man in front of them. This guy was simply dressed. He was wearing a white shirt and a pair of black jeans that were turning grey. His shoes were worn out and his hair was disheveled.

His black-framed reading glasses rested on his nose. In his hands was a bouquet of fresh roses. "Why?" Lorenzo, the man wearing glasses asked the couple.

"Why did you do this to me, Angela?" He asked the woman.

"Take a good look at yourself. How can you be compared to my Connor? You have no wealth, no wealthy relatives, no good job, you have nothing. You can't even afford to give me a nice present." Angela said with a mocking smile.

"But I worked so hard. I tried to give you the best I could, Angela. You betrayed me." Lorenzo said. Angela scoffed and hugged her man's arm tightly. Soon a black sports car stopped by them.

"Let's go, honey," Connor said as he boarded the car. Angela gave Lorenzo a disgusted look before she followed him.

Lorenzo was heartbroken. Angela was his girlfriend. He wasn't among the wealthy class and he couldn't find a good job. He worked his butt off to satisfy her requests. Anything she asked for, he'd give her. Even if it cost his savings, which wasn't much too. This was how she paid him. Lorenzo slumped on the floor in a daze.

He didn't know how he'd fare now because he wasted his last cents to buy the bouquet in his hands. After all, it was their first anniversary.

Lorenzo saw a hand in front of him. The fingers were slender and well-manicured and painted with black nail polish. He looked up to see the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. She wore a simple black T-shirt with black jeans and boots. Her face was lightly made up, her black hair cascaded down her waist. She was very pretty.

Accepting her hands, Lorenzo stood up and dusted his clothes. "Thanks." He said to the woman.

"Do you have a girlfriend?" was the question that came out of the lady's mouth.

Lorenzo shook his head. They just broke up. Lorenzo saw the woman's eyes shine in happiness. She hooked his arms around his.

"That's great because I like you. So, marry me?" The lady asked and his mouth opened wide in astonishment. He didn't believe that women were this shameless.

The lady didn't wait for a reply before she pulled him closer to the road and hailed a taxi. "To the Civil Affairs Bureau," she ordered.

When they arrived, they got their marriage certificate. Lorenzo had no idea what made him sign it but he was now married.

"So we're married. Enzo, I mean hubby." The lady said as they came out from the building. She saw his name when they signed the papers.

Enzo looked at his wife. "Ava," he called. He had to tell her about his living conditions. He was broke and his job was not stable. He didn't even know when he would get his next salary.

"Yes, hubby?" She looked at him with a smile. She admired this man. She was just coming out of the mall when she came upon the scene where he was dumped by his ex-girlfriend.

She pitied him, but since it wasn't her concern, she wanted to leave. That was when she saw his face. It was so handsome. Even the glasses didn't seem out of place. She fell for him, or his face, at first sight, and decided she must get married to him. Ava handed her bags to her assistant and ran to help him.

"Ava, I am very poor with no stable job, I struggle to pay rent, I have a family who depends on my income. I am not your perfect man and we don't know each other. If you have any complaints, please be free to file for a divorce. I don't know why I agreed to marry you in the first place." Enzo said, the last sentence in a whisper. Ava placed two fingers on his lips.

She wanted to tell him to live with her in her mansion but looking at him, he didn't seem to be the type of guy who would depend on a woman. So, she'd move in with him. She may even gain a new experience.

"I don't care, hubby. I fell in love with you at first sight and since we're married, I'm willing to spend my life with you. I know you don't agree to this but please, let's try to make this work, okay? After two years, if it doesn't work, we get divorced. " Ava said.

She held his arms. "Let's go home."

Ava looked at the shabby environment. She followed Enzo to his unit, empty-handed. She didn't come with any luggage. Entering, Ava found out that it was a single small room with only one bed. In a corner was a small burner used for cooking and beside the bed was a table. The room practically looked empty but it was very neat.

"Welcome to my humble home," Enzo said as Ava sat on his bed. it was then he noticed that this woman had nothing with her.

"Do we have to go to your house to bring your clothes," he asked.

"No. I'll bring them later. Do you have any engagements later?" Enzo shook his head.

"Good. Let's go on a date." She said as she dragged him out and locked the door.
