Chapter 005

Oscar watched silently as Henry arrogantly entered his car and drove off.

He felt like rushing over and venting out his anger. However, even though he loved boasting and cracking jokes, he was no idiot.

Even if he won he would still be on the loosing end since Henry could just use his family background to have him arrested for violence.

"I am sorry kid" Landlord Brock flashed Oscar an apologetic smile.

However, the latter just snorted in annoyance.

Landlord Brock sighed. He had to clear the air, or this kid might just misunderstand.

"Did you really think that the rich brat from earlier really bought my house?"

"I am not interested to know. That is your business, not mine" Oscar coldly replied.

Landlord Brock smiled. He could perfectly understand Oscar's anger.

"He threatened me with my daughter's life to play along and drive you out of my house. You might not know this but that brat is part of the Blood Blade gang" Landlord Brock explained fearfully.

The Blood Blade gang was a terrifying gang in Palma lane. Their members were all ruthless and engaged in criminal acts.

Oscar never would've expected Henry, a young richie to be part of such a group.

"I understand. I forgive you" Oscar said after some time.

"Since you have no place to go, i can secretely shelter you till you find a place" Landlord Brock suggested.

"Thank you!"

And so, Oscar moved his stuffs into Landlord Brock's place. Landlord Brock was an old widower with an adult daughter who worked as a waitress in a local restaurant.

She was married and lived with her husband. As such, Landlord Brock's place had enough space to accomodate an extra person.

Night arrived and Landlord Brock prepared pasta, which he ate with Oscar.

Getting to his new room, Oscar slumped down on the mattress and opened the system panel.

He began drawing the lottery.

Oscar was pleasantly surprised that he got the lottery arrow hit a 'reasonable' section so fast.

He quickly checked what item he got.

-[You have recieved an item.. Mana fruit]

At that moment, a fruit materialized on his palm. It was dark orange and had a smooth pericarp. Oscar couldn't resist taking a bite.

Hmm..~

The mana fruit tasted like mango and pineapple combined. Greedy, he shoved the remaining mana fruit into his mouth.

Fvck!

Oscar felt a wave of energy gush into his body. He felt his internal organs heating up as the energy washed over his bones, scorching them to the point that they almost melted.

At that moment, three bars appeared on the system screen

Cultivation

Energy

Health

The cultivation bar was purple. Energy bar was red and Health bar blue. Currently, the Cultivation Bar was filled to the brim, causing it to glow brilliantly.

Oscar was confused. Level up?

However, now was not the time to think of all this because he could feel his body brimming.

He had never felt this pumped up in his entire life.

He threw a punch at the concrete wall.

Ouch!

Although he felt a light sting on his knuckles, the result stunned him speechless.

A crack, the size of a baby thumb had appeared on the concrete wall.

"Awesome! maybe this system isn't as bad as i thought it to be!" Oscar laughed happily.

Wasn't this system literally offering him wealth and strength on a silver platter.

Hmph! Give me ten years. No two years and i'll become the strongest man in the world!

At that time, i can snag any beauty. If her boyfriend dares make a sound, i'll just give him a beating.. Pui pui!

I am not a bad person. Ah! it must've been a slip in tongue!

Oscar calmed his racing heart and continued drawing the lottery. -[Thanks for playing]

Only after the ninth draw did the arrow land on the 'CULTIVATION RESOURCE' section.

"Spirit candy? the creator of this system sure knows how to name things" Oscar thought sarcastically.

Just as the name implied, a candy floated above Oscar's palm. It was the size of a human eye and golden brown in color.

When Oscar popped it into his mouth, it melted into a soft and cool energy, that rushed up straight into his head.

"Hmmm!" he moaned, his head becoming clear headed.

This feeling lasted for a minute before disappearing. To Oscar's shock, he felt his eye sight improve a bit.

Although it wasn't exaggerated to the point where he could see in the dark, he was quite conversant with his body.

Right from childhood, he had a serious eye problem where his sight appeared blurry. He managed to get an eye glass thanks to a humanitarian programme.

But now, he even felt that he could see quite well without using the glasses.

Friggin awesome!

A new notification rang from the system.

-[You have leveled up in Soul power!]

Indeed, Oscar noticed that the bar for his soul cultivation was filled to the brim.

Suddenly, his two cultivation bars suddenly went empty. However he didn't panic.

He knew he just had to consume some mana fruit and spirit candy to fill them up.

Only when they were filled up would he experience another level up.

As for how many mana fruits and Spirit candies needed for another level up, there was one way to find out..

Oscar woke up the next day with eye bags. He didn't have enough rest since he was too busy drawing the lottery.

He managed to obtain two additional shop permits, five mana fruits and three spirit candies.

After eating two mana fruits, he had another level up. Doing the maths, he needed to devour four more mana fruits for another level up.

Since he had three mana fruits remaining, he just consumed them. As for his soul cultivation, he had another level up.

However, he needed three more spirit candies.

Getting up from the bed, He quickly freshened up and went to the sitting room.

"I am off now Landlord!" he yelled when he passed through the kitchen.

"Hey lad! won't you stay over for breakfast?!"

"I have a busy schedule today!"

Oscar was in quite a hurry to complete the system's daily quest;

Spend 50 thousand bucks!

Exiting Landlord Brock's apartment, he flagged down a taxi.

"Where to?" the taxi man asked respectfully.

Having learnt his lessons the previous day, Oscar discarded his old clothes. He was currently clad in a Dior Tshirt underneath a sweatshirt. Branded joggers and white nikes sneakers.

He looked just like those cool rich kids on fotocrib.

"Uhm. Do you know any car dealership stores? i want to buy a car" Oscar replied.

"Oh. There's one in Laurel lane. But it costs you five dollars"

Oscar sneered. He obviously knew the taxi man was over charging him.

However, he wasn't too bothered. He was rich now, so he didn't mind doing some charity.
