The Canis Lycaon

Lou Rivers has been traveling all her life with her father and she’s harboring a secret that could shake the entire werewolves’ world. Her father has done everything to keep her secret away from the knowledge of anyone. And that leaves her to live in a façade of just someone ordinary among her kind. And there’s Alexa , a born noble; strong, dedicated and respected. She is someone who thirst for recognition from her beloved grandfather. So, she’d work her ass to earn that. Also, the thought of a mate is the least she gives importance. For her, she doesn’t need one much to a mate that could just weigh her down. What will be her reaction when she finds her mate to be a girl; a woman? And to make things worst, perceived as a weakling of their kind? Will she accept and give in to the bond? … or Will she reject and live the life her family has already laid upon? And what would be Lou’s view from her side? Join me as we unravel their ever tangled lives. ‘hehehe’ [*******] Author’s Note: Join https://discord.gg/RMJAEMC A gold tier in the WPC contest. Hence, I will stick to the prompt of an overpowered female lead. This is my first werewolf novel and hopefully it would turn out great. Chapter 18

LOU RIVERS

'Carl Davis'

He's like a ray of sunshine; a joyful person, mellow and carefree.

I first met him a year ago in one of my travels. He stood out in the crowd of werewolves— not of power though but of his cheerfulness and sunny side up viewpoint that's a bit annoying.

And as the days go by that I was with him, I was able to see the Carl behind the brightest of his smiles.

'yeah'

That behind the facade, there's a broken and a wounded Carl.

Karen leaned in to whisper, "How did you become acquainted with the famous runt of the House of Davis?"

"Long story Karen," I whispered back smiling.

My smile never faded as I waited for Carl to reach me. And I felt proud and genuinely happy seeing the pure joy that radiated from him.

'yeah'

'pure joy'

I could no longer see the traces of the old Carl now—

He— has changed.

"Louchiechie—"

'oh goddess'

There it was again, my name reverberated in every corner.

''ugh'

[**********]

We were walking out of the building, talking, laughing and mostly bickering as it was unusual that werewolves from different packs hang out together when a group of werewolves from another pack pass our way and one of them swung a metal bat aiming for my head.

With that little distance, it's almost impossible to evade the attack but thankfully I tripped—

'yeah'

I tripped— just enough not to be hit.

'ahem'

"What the fuck was that Kareem?" Maggie snarled at the blonde guy.

"What?" He feigned with a smug in his face.

"If Louchie hadn't tripped, her brain would have come out of her skull!"

The blonde guy huffed, "That is— if she has a brain."

A laughter in chorus were heard from his circle and—

... and a loud thud on the wall was heard after.

"Mind your tongue beansprout," Alexa hissed, pinning the guy on the wall. She took a hold of his neck, levitating him up the ground.

"Well, hello there, soon to be sister-in-law."

"Why are you even defending the mate you are about to reject?"

'tsk'

I would be lying if I say, I didn't have the urge to rip his throat there but refrained myself.

Well, Alexa gritted her teeth by then and was about to punch Kareem but was stopped by the presence of Principal Miller.

"I believe everyone knows that I strictly do not allow violence in the school premises unless official." His voice made everyone around cower except me but I acted as though I am.

With that, Alexa released Kareem but her gaze left the man a warning.

"Don't you dare lay a hand on Lou again," Carmen warned as she pulled Alexa away from the blonde guy.

"Oh, is that a threat missy?"

"Might as well be reminded Carmen, in case you forget, I knocked you down to sleep on our previous game."

The girl chuckled, "Might as well be informed Kareem, a month of improvement is good enough for me to settle the score with you."

"Oh, you think I'm not improving then? Well, sorry to disappoint you missy, a month is long enough," he bared his teeth at Carmen.

The girl smirked, "Well, let's see beansprout. I have improved leaps and bounds and I'll make sure to drag that smug face of yours on the ground."

"Woah—"

"Big talk Carmen, big talk," the blonde guy clapped in mockery.

"Well, you are nothing anyway but all talk missy. What can I say?"

There, in the peripheral of my eyes, I saw Maggie run in her inhuman speed heading for an attack to Kareem but was sent back by the principal. Marc caught her.

"I find you all disrespectful in my presence!" The man growled.

"I'll have you all mow the grass of the entire football field as punishment!"

'oh'

'shit'

Ohh sorry— too short. I’ll make it up next chapter.
