Love is not my thing...

Maverick's POV

My heart was beating really fast and I thought I was having another anxiety attack. But what could have triggered it? I was diagnosed with the condition right after Fabian's death and it always came when I was in a mess,like having memories that I shouldn't have.

But now,I was just talking to Calista and boom!, it came again. But this time it was different. My breathing was very normal but my heart beat had escalated.

I could literally hear the beating in my ears.

The conversation with Calista was so refreshing,moreso after having such a busy day and finding out about Thomas Hudson. From the CCTV, I could see that she had prepared a surprise dinner for me and I felt like flying back to Texas immediately. I felt so guilty that I could not eat the food that my wife had prepared me..but why would she even bother to prepare food for me?

Well,no matter the reason, I appreciated her efforts even though I could not actually eat the food.

And she really looked gorgeous in white and black. She looked so simply but so beautiful...Her hair was let down and it flew all the way to her waist and her eyeglasses.

She was damn beautiful.

After the ending the call, I thought I should call my doctor and ask what was happening to me, with my heartbeat beating like crazy. I dialled Kimberly's number and called.

"What is it now Maverick? Do you even realize that it's almost 9 pm?"she asked in irritation.

Is she serious? 9 pm and she was getting irritated. Maybe she forgot that she answers to me and that is anytime I need her to.

"Will you quite those silly complains of yours and listen to me?"I barked at her.

I could hear her sigh from the other line.

"Ofcourse sir,go on am all ears,"she spoke and I calmed myself down.

"I pay you to answer to me and that means,it's anytime I need you to or I will just find another doctor for myself!"I threatened but it was not an empty threat. I really could replace her anytime I wanted to.

"Calm down Maverick and am all ears now and that's all that matters,"she spoke.

I decided to let it go since I didn't have the whole night to talk to her.

"I think I just had another attack,and it was kinda severe..."I spoke then paused not knowing what to say next.

Should I tell her that it started when I spoke to Calista and it lasted the whole time we were speaking!?..no I won't,she would tease to death for that.

"Maverick did you take your pills? You know that anytime time you have such an attack you should just take your pills and calm yourself down!"

That was just so obvious and I knew that already but...

"I don't know what triggered it. I was not in any deep thinking. I was not having any memories either so I don't understand why it was even triggered!"I explained and she was quiet for almost a whole second.

"What were you feeling exactly?"she spoke.

"Did I not just say that my heartbeat was so high Kim? Were you not paying attention when I was speaking?" I was getting really annoyed now.

Was she planning on making me repeat myself the whole night!

"When did you feel that? What exactly were you doing when you felt that?"

There came the question I had been dodging the whole conversation.

"Well,I was talking to Calista. I was just fine but it started as soon as she started talking!"

I pressed my temples when saying that, waiting for her to burst into a chortle or start teasing me.

"Are you that dumb?"

I did not expect that at all and why would she think that am dumb? Do I look like one?

I did not respond to that. Maybe because of the shock of not expecting such a question.

"Actually,a rise in your heartbeat does not necessarily have to be a medical issue. Sometimes it might be out of fear or panick or maybe... love!"she said the last word in a much hesitant manner.

'Love?' The word rang again in my head. That's not possible at all. Love can never be my thing again,never!

But Addison..

I LIKE Addison...okay just liking,that means..

"In your case..."Kim's voice brought me back and I listened to her though I was still perplexed about the revelation I just go, about my feelings for Addison.

"...it was not out of fear and definitely not out of panick since you were not in any situation that would cause you alarm. That gives us one possible reply.."she spoke again.

"Love!?"I scoffed finishing her statement but it was more of a question.

"That's so ridiculous Kim. I am not in love and I never will be. Thank you for not helping!"I hanged up the phone and banged it on the table.

Three days elapsed without talking to Calista. She did even bother to call or even leave a text message.

I was ever busy,in my companies and dealing with work emails sent by my secretary.

I finally decided to video call and she picked. It was almost 8 pm and I figured she must be having her dinner but she was still in her room.

She looked so beautiful and she kept on smiling at the screen. When we spoke she looked so nervous and I could not help but chuckle at her reaction but she gradually relaxed.As we spoke,I remembered that she just renamed me,from Maverick to Roy.

Well, I could find a name for her too.

Ren... yeah,Ren is perfect. Ren for Serenity.

When I used the name,she was curious to know who Ren is.

"Ren is my wife.."I answered and she looked so shocked.

Well,she really can be dumb then. She is my wife so could she not just add it up?!

But I loved her reaction. She looked shocked, confused and...hurt?

But why hurt...?

In a certain apartment in New York,

"So just because your so called boyfriend is in Town,you are going to ditch me up and go enjoy yourself in his arms?"Izara asked her hands on her hips.

Addison just sighed and looked at her. She was ready to go see her boyfriend already and Izara was making a fuss about it.

"Izara, am not having this discussion with you right now. Let's talk about it tomorrow when I get back from Maverick's mansion,"she spoke making her way to the door.

Izara felt like she was going to run mad. She could not understand why Addison would pay Maverick a visit and that is at that time of the night...and wearing such a skimpy dress that was showing off almost the whole of her body!

"Oh,so we would talk about it after you go and screw him? Is that it?"she questioned her feeling hurt,betrayed...

She never knew that this time would come that Addison would choose Maverick over her,after everything she had done for them to be together.

"Izara stop making this more complicated that it already is..."Addison's voice was now low. She was even confused herself.

She was beginning to fall for Maverick...infact she had already fallen for him but she also still loved Izara and it was confusing her.

She could not make a choice between them right now but she was sure of what she wanted at that time,she wanted to be with Maverick, kiss him,feel his hard muscles and perhaps get it further with him,since they never had before.

"It already is complicated Addy. I ran away from home. Shamed my mother by that little action,took away my sister's happiness by doing that just to be here with you and you would just walk out,go to Maverick in this thing you are wearing and say that am making things complicated!"

Izara could not just believe that Addison would say that she was complicating things in such a situation.

Addison looked at her. She understood exactly what she felt but how would she tell her that she was now in love with Maverick as well. That she wanted to feel a man's touch now?

She decided not to hurt her anymore. She was sure that she would be hurt as well if she knew that Izara was planning to screw a man yet she is her girlfriend.

"You win...I will be in my room now,"Addison spoke and turned to go upstairs.

Izara's lost her mouth. She expected Addison to assure her that what she was thinking was wrong but she left with just, 'you win!'.

Addison walked to her room still confused.

'When did I become a bisexual?' she was even beginning to hate herself now. How could she be bisexual!?
