Disappointed I
Calista was on the seventh episode of The Cleaning Lady when she remembered that she did not even thank Maverick for the laptop and the phone. She bit her lower lip thinking of what to do as a thank you for him.
'Call him and say ' Hi I forgot but thanks for the laptop and the phone' or should I just send him a thank you text!' she groaned when she could not find anything suitable to do for him.
She watched the episode until it was over then logged in to the youtube.
'What can be the best way to thank your husband after buying you something so expensive?'
She typed at the search bar. She read the question again and frowned.
"Husband?" she mummered but she did not change it. She could not possibly type Maverick in place of husband!
The results popped on the screen and Calista almost shrieked when she read the first answer.
"A thank you sex? Are these people normal?..what's even a thank you sex!?" she ignored that and read the second one.
"Surprise dinner date!" That was not too bad but she could not do that. Take somebody else's boyfriend to a date!.. Impossible!
"Romantic dinner!" Calista smiled after reading that. Sounded like a good answer, actually a perfect idea.
"I will remove the romantic there and settle for just dinner. I will make him a meal. Thank God mother taught me some Indian recipes and my cooking is not that bad,"she exclaimed getting off the bed.
"But I cannot cook for him Indian foods. He is not indian. I will enquire from the maids what his favorite meal is then all will be done!"
She hoped off the bed and ran to the kitchen just to find Meshach,the butler stuffing some wrapped foods in to the refrigerator.
"Good evening ma'am!"he greeted her in a light bow.
"Good evening Meshach.."she greeted him back and stood rooted at the spot. She did not know how to drop the question so as not to sound so odd. She remained silent and rooted for a while.
"Can I get you something ma'am?"Meshach's question brought her back to reality.
"Not at all Meshach. I just came to grab a bottle of juice for myself and ask what you are preparing for dinner today!"
She crossed the room to.the refrigerator and took a bottle of juice. She poured the chilled passion juice from the glass bottle then returned it back.
"We were preparing baked chicken breast,pasta napolitana and sauce,Tiramisu for desert and Passion juice,"Meshach informed her and Calista simply nodded. She had no idea how to ask Maverick's favourite food so she decided to take advantage of the foods listed.
"Are those Maverick's favourite foods?"she asked and she could swear she saw a frown on Meshach's face before his calm normal look.
"Not really ma'am. Sir Maverick really loves Garlic beef enchiladas,white chicken enchiladas with extra cheese and rosemary salmon and veggies. As for deserts,he loves chocolate mousse. Butterscotch is his flavour,"Meshach bombered him with extra information which was actually much better for Calista.
"That's good Meshach. Now let's prepare those dishes for him with an exception of the white chicken enchiladas,the pasta Napolitana would do great in it's place..."she decided to change the menu for the night.
'Just few of those favorite foods of his for dinner would be a great appreciation!'she thought.
"I don't think sir will really like the idea of changing today's meal,"Meshach warned with all respect.
"Actually,I did not think of that but changes will always be there so he better get used to that!"the smile on her lips never left as she said those words.
"Yes ma'am!"Meshach bowed as he took in the instructions.
"I will join you in cooking!"she announced in excitement. Meshach smiled as she walked out of the kitchen. Since he worked as a butler and a maid before working for Maverick,he had not seen any lady boss so humble and so nice to the staffs.
"Sir is really luck to have such a beautiful and humble lady as a wife. I would not think twice before giving her my entire heart to rule,"he spoke unaware that the maid were back from their afternoon rest.
"You better keep off your eyes and heart from boss's wife. You know he would not think twice before chopping them off with his own bare hands!"Rose exclaimed with a warning look.
"Well said Rose!" Millie backed her up.
Meshach looked at them and wondered what they were talking about. He just liked that she was so humble despite her beauty and having such a rich husband. Nothing more.
"I never kept my eyes nor heart on her Rose so watch your mouth unless you wanna loose your job!"he warned and Rose scoffed.
Rose always loved Meshach. He was too handsome for his own good. Even though he was more that miles away to be close to their boss's good looks,he still looked charming but the young man had always given her a cold shoulder and ignored all her signals.
"You all better shut those mouth before the ma'am or the boss hears you!"Another maid by the name Cindy warned.
"But ma'am is so kind hearted unlike that bitch of a woman called Addison! I really hate her and thank goodness the boss did not marry her otherwise who knows what we would be facing in this house!" Rose spoke and Cindy bursted out laughing when she remembered how Rose of all of them always faced Addison's wrath.
"You know you don't have to ask what we would be facing. You know better than all of us!"she spoke while laughing and that annoyed Rose.
"She was simply jealous because I am literally more beautiful than her!"Rose scoffed and they all burst out laughing, including Meshach.
Rose felt even more offended but before she could say anything,they heard someone clearing their throats.
They all turned and bowed instantly when they saw Calista standing there. She was still in her baggy black short that hardly touched her knees and a plain white shirt with her hair in a ponytail and her eyeglasses in place.No makeup.
"Good evening ma'am,"the maids greeted and Calista chuckled at how shaken they all looked.
"Did you all just see a ghost or something?"she asked while gazing around her. She was sure they were afraid because she caught them talking so plainly.
"You all don't have to be afraid of me. I don't like Addison either but it's so unethical to talk about your previous madam in such a manner. Now let's stop all these bowing and get to work. We need to finish cooking before my husband arrives,"she informed them and they all relaxed.
Calista almost choked on her words.
'My husband!'she mused to herself with a huge smile on.
"Yes ma'am,"smiles took over their once fearful faces.
The team got to work with Calista helping them. She decided they should continue with the Tiramisu and not the chocolate mousse. Too bad she was not fond of baking. Infact she never dared to bake.
She checked the recipe of it on the internet and baked it.
In an hour later the meals were almost done and all that was remaining was the seasonings. Calista helped them with that. She went to the oven and brought out the cake that she had baked.
"Oh no!"disappointment and embarrassment hit her face when her eyes fell on it. The cake was not as spongy as it ought to be. It looked hard and it was so dark in color and crumbled.
Rose, Cindy, Meshach and Millie almost burst out laughing but when they saw how unhappy their madam looked,their faces also fell.
"W-well you really tried ma'am!" Meshach stammered afraid that she would snap at him. To his relief,she simply smiled.
"Actually I can cook some foods but cannot bake a cake,but am sure I did follow all the steps carefully on the recipe!"was all she said with her eyes not meeting theirs. She did not want to be judged by them for not being able to bake a simple sponge cake.
"It's still good ma'am. It's very much edible still!"Cindy spoke trying to make Calista feel better but the rest turned to her with their eyes so wide. Calista saw that and she almost chuckled.
'How is such a thing edible!?' their minds screamed but dared not to say it.
"Thank you Cindy!"she spoke trying to hold back her laugh.
"Ma'am you really did you best and the meals are perfect. Rose will prepare another cake. You should go have some rest!"Meshach spoke and Rose almost shouted a 'what?' but she just stood still holding her displeasure.
Calista nodded and left the kitchen for her room. She got to the room and groaned as she fell on the bed.
"That was too embarrassing Serene!" she cursed herself. She was disappointed at herself for not being able to make a simple desert for Maverick as a thank you.
"Anyways..I tried!" she mummered to herself.
She stood from the bed and lazily walked to the bathroom to freshen up.
"Now let's get ready for the dinner before he comes. Nothing should go wrong now!"
