2 Reincarnated In Budapest

[My name is Edmund, and I was reincarnated with two cheats... My first cheat is a choice system that provides me with skills and powers based on the options presented by the system. Years ago, for example, my first reward was a small world. I haven't had a second choice since, so everything appears to be determined by the system's moods.]

[My second power is linked to my ability to enter the multiverse, which is still unclear in many ways. Later… Whatever… Right now, I'm just getting started in the verse of Underworld Movies, which seems to be the world of the Boys.]

[I don't have the time or leisure to think about all of that. The fucked up world aside, the city I live in is one of vampires and lycans, and I am just an ordinary person...]

[The one saving grace I am grateful for is that I was reborn as an orphan in this world ten years ago; family ties would have been especially bothersome and constraining when I was so weak and needed to consider my future.]

[Not that I'm strong now, but this disorganized system of mine finally seems to have decided to stop being lazy and issued me a new choice… I can see some glimmers of hope now…]

"What is this?"

"Reincarnation? System?"

At night, somewhere in Hungary, a castle in Budapest, in a large chamber with plenty of space somewhere within the structure.

Selene, a stunning woman with dark hair, blue eyes, stared intently at a thick book in her hands. It was a brown leather diary filled with yellow pages. The words on the inside were written in black ink.

Putting aside her obvious skepticism about the content, she was disturbed to discover that this book, this diary, had appeared next to her in her room. Out of nowhere.

It wasn't as if it had been placed there while she was occupied with something; rather, it turned up out of seemingly nothing, leaving no trace of movement behind.

Selene was a highly-trained vampire, specifically a death dealer; as the name implies, she was dangerous and waltzed around the shadow of death and its aftermath. It wasn't easy to catch her lacking and keep her from picking up prints left in the wake of a move.

Right now, though, there were no such traces left.

"..."

Selene was utterly taken aback.

She looked around carefully and cautiously for a moment, trying to figure out what was causing this, and when she couldn't find anything, she decided to leave her room and inquire.

The first person she saw outside her room was a beautiful blonde woman walking down the hall toward Kraven, the coven leader's office.

She interrupted the woman's walk and asked, holding the diary in her hand, "Erika, did you see who left this diary in my room? It suddenly popped up right next to me on the couch."

When Selene asked, she heard and saw a notification that said:

[It is forbidden to discuss the diary with other people who are not diary holders! Keep this in mind if you don't want to be exterminated the next time!]

The moment she heard and saw the words, she felt a deadly threat to her life. She didn't know or understand much, but she did recognize danger and death! This appeared to be something extremely powerful that she could never defeat or resist.

She exhaled slightly and dropped to her knees, convinced she was about to die.

But then she seemed to pick up on a clue... Her eyes raised cautiously to meet Erika's line of sight.

When the two pairs of eyes met and revealed the same shock, the notification broke out again:

[The introductory punishment was fortunately avoided this time! Congratulations on finding another diary holder, but please exercise extreme caution in the future. Your life is in the balance!]

At the exact same time, night, and minute, in a poorer Budapest part of town than the previous one, specifically in a run-down apartment on the top floor.

Edmund was sitting at home, unaware of what was going on elsewhere in the city, staring at a screen suspended in the air that presented him with a number of options.

[Choice 1 — Follow the events of the original timeline while doing little in the background, and allow Michael Corvin to get Selene pregnant. (Reward — Shadow Clone Technique and Naruto's Shadow Clone Technique Talent)]

[Choice 2 — Act as a neutral party and try not to get involved in the world's supernatural mess. Since you are familiar with the plot, change countries whenever possible. (Reward — Three colors of Haki, and Ice Logia Devil Fruit)]

[Choice 3 — Be a Chad. Impregnate Selene and Sonja. Consort with Erika and the villainess Semira. (Reward — Tobirama, and Orochimaru's intelligence and research talents, as well as an upgraded version of Impure World Reincarnation)]

The rewards were immediate, which meant Edmund could receive them right away, depending on which option he chose. However, if he did not follow through on his decision later, the system would reclaim the reward.

Edmund didn't hesitate long. He had a better chance of entering comic book worlds while traveling through the multiverse, according to what he was told ten years ago, when he was still 15 years old… It was obvious which option he needed to make, though the other two options were also interesting… At least the rewards were for option 1…

He asked the system, however, to contribute to him in making the best decision, 'System, what does it mean, what's an improved version of Impure World Reincarnation?'

The system didn't make Edmund wait for an answer.

[Pure World Reincarnation is an upgraded version of Impure World Reincarnation. It removes impurities from the skill and thus is known as pure. It will not require Chakra, and you will not need to collect dead bodies to summon souls from the spiritual realms of the dead. The skill is also effective on you. You can resurrect yourself after you die… In fact, because it is the purest and most intelligent form of resurrection, you can resurrect at any point in your life, past or future, so you will never feel lonely. After all, it would be a shame to return for the end of the world.]

"Damn! Isn't this skill a bit broken?!" Edmund exclaimed.

His glinting eyes reflected his joy and the height of his shock.

[I made you wait ten years, this is the best reward you can get in a long while, of course. With the kind of dangerous comic worlds you will travel to, this isn't much of a gift, maybe even a curse...]

The system was refreshingly honest as a human being; Edmund felt as if it had a conscience.

'Well, I can't imagine a better reward than this one in the future.' Edmund thought to himself, agreeing.

This was a life-saving reward, whereas the others were only about strength.

[You simply lack imagination, host; sometimes life is worse than death. Good luck, and don't get caught by some lab madmen later. This version of Impure World Reincarnation is purified and perfect, so naturally, there is a sense of pain… After repeatedly dying in a lab room, you may choose to remain in the land of the dead.]

'Pain? How is that a good and pure thing?!' Edmund was crestfallen, dismayed by the system's harsh wake-up call to reality. He was caught off guard while trying to immerse in his surfacing daydreams. This was an unexpectedly devastating revelation.

[You will know if you choose option number three, host; you are currently lacking an abundance of brain cells.]

'This system…'

Edmund briefly blocked his thoughts and made them private.

'Anyway, let's not continue to talking o this bastard... I was wondering how I would meet Sonja, but it seems like there are two options... I'm not as stupid as the system thinks, so I know I have to either die and resurrect in the past or summon her soul from the past… The description indicates that I am capable of doing so. I'm not sure if I can control her with my current strength, so let's think about resurrecting her later.'

Edmund put his thoughts to rest and took action – As long as this shitty system shut up, he was happy.
