Chapter 8: The Reason I Am Here

"Ok I'm here. Now what do you want me to do?" "You are telling me you don't remember why you are here?" "Well I still have things to remember. I was found about a 5 months ago and I lost my memories. The last thing I remember is being on a ship floating in the ocean and swimming to shore on a beach where I met Rin and Elias. Then when I saw the Captain and Sea. I started getting some back. I also saw Cliff who I found out was my father and Kaia my mother." "I already knew that much. So you really don't remember. Do you remember wanting to be drugged for a certain reason?" "Well sort of. Sea told me he was the one drugging me because I told him to. He said that I wanted to be immune to all poisons or have the poison go through slower in my body." "Well that is part of the truth. We wanted to keep you alive to see what you decided on that." "Oh about that, I told Sea to stop the drugging until I had gotten my memory back. I wanted to make sure everything is as it was told. Did you by any chance have something to do with the accident when I went missing recently?" "Oh that. Yes well. It really was an accident. We were trying to turn the ship in a storm and ended up hitting yours in the right spot then the lightning shattered your ship. Luckily you survived." "So that's what happened. Argh. My head. Don't worry I'm fine. It happens when I'm remembering. Argh. I….I remember that day clear now. I remember Everything. I need to sit down. I feel a little lightheaded." "Ok so what do you remember?" said the Leader. "I remember why I am here. What happened to cause the accident. Everything." "Let's hear why you think you're here." "Yeah. You guys were after me since I was little. I was about 5 or 6 at the time. I remember Meeting Sea. He didn't want me to know his name. He didn't think it mattered back then. That's when I started living with Rin and her family. I would secretly visit with Sea until one day he vanished. I was about 10 years old. Then when I finally saw him again I was shocked. Captain had Sea keep an eye on me for awhile until things were getting dangerous. That's why he stopped seeing me. You were apparently he dangers we had to look out for. We thought you were going to hurt me. Now I know you won't. You are my aunt. My mom's twin sister." "Yeah that's right. I am." "So when do we start the experiments. The sooner we get this done, he sooner I can go back to the ship and be on land." "We will start them tomorrow morning. Alex take Kai to his room to rest." "Yes Maam." So he did just that.

I opened a door to a room I was going to stay in and was shocked. There was a nice bed to sleep on and all he necessities you would need in a room. "Aunt really does want this doesn't she?" I went in my room, put my stuff down and crashed on the bed to rest.

It was getting late, then there was a knock at my door. (Knock Knock) I opened my door and it was my Aunt. "Hey Aunt Chris. What do you want?" "I hope you like the room. I fixed it up for you. Oh also I have brought some dinner for you. Its bread and stew. Hope you like it. The bread is a little stale, but its not moldy." "Thanks, I appreciate it. So why go through all these lengths to get to me? You could have gone straight to me and Kidnapped me." "I couldn't do that. The captain of this ship is our brother. Your uncle. He is older than us by 3 years. He has 2 sons as well. They are close to you and Dylan's age. I hope you get along. In regards to helping us, you have freedom to go anywhere on this ship and hang with whoever you want." "So mom never mentioned having a brother. What is his name?" "Oh his name is Aiden. Just like your little brother." I ate my food and gave the dish back to Aunt Chris. "Well I'm going to get some sleep now. What time does the experiment start?" "Oh no certain time. Just try to wake up before 10:00am." "OK see you tomorrow Aunt Chris." I closed my eyes and slept.

The next morning it was around 8:00am. I got up, Dressed and headed to the experiment room. On my way there, I was stopped my a man who I assumed was my uncle. I turned around and answered him. "You must be my uncle Aiden. Nice to finally know I have an uncle. What do you need me for? I was about to head to the experiment room." "Yes about that, today is a special occasion. No need for that today. Christ told me today is your 17th birthday." "So what of it? I want to get this experiment stuff done with soon so I can go home." "Well sorry to burst your bubble, but that isn't going to happen today." I sighed because I knew I couldn't change his mind. "I want you to meet my boys. This is Rush who is a year older than you. He just turned 18 a month ago today. The oldest here is 21 his name is River." "Hey I'm Kai. I'm your cousin. Nice to meet you." "Likewise." Said Rush. "You know Rush. You remind me of my brother Elias. I had a family take me in when I was younger, he is the same way. Not much of a talker but when he wants to be, he can be." "Ha. That is totally spot on. I like you Kai." Said River. "Thanks, I guess."

Just as we were talking getting to know each other, there was an enemy ship. People were running around getting prepared for battle. "What's going on?" I said. "An enemy ship! Kai stay with Rush and River. Don't leave their side for any reason." Said Aiden. I nodded in agreement.

The enemies were on the ship looking like they are searching for something. I saw a gun pointed to uncles back and without thinking I jumped in front of him to protect him. I got shot instead. "No! Kai! Hang on Kai! Your going to be ok!" said Uncle. "Dammit! Boys! Come get Kai! He's been shot!" Rush and River rushed over to me. I was coughing up blood. I took in a deep breath and some blood came out of my side. "Hang in there cousin! Your going to be ok!" I started losing consciousness until finally I couldn't hear anything at hall.

I was waking up in when looked like a lab. I tried to sit up but it hurt. "Argh. Ow." "Hey don't get up Kai." Said River. "Let me get Aunt Chris and dad." I laid back down waiting for them to show.

I saw Aunt Chris, Uncle Aiden and Rush. "Hey Kai. How you feeling?" said Aiden. "It hurts to get up. I'm glad your ok." "Yeah thanks to you, you idiot. I thought I told you to stay with your cousins." "I did, but when I saw a gun pointed at your back, I had to step in. Plus, that's a dirty way to fight. If you are going to kill someone you should do it facing the front of them. That's just a coward and chicken way to kill someone. Where am I anyway?" "Well Kai. You got your birthday wish I guess. We had no choice but to start you on the experiment. The experiment is was saved your life Kai." "No one told me what the experiment was even for. I'm glad it worked." "Well you offered yourself to the cause to help people so I guess we could tell you. It's a project we have been working on for a while. There is a tool that we are using to heal people. Its still in the experimental stage. You told us you would help." "Yeah and I still will. Have you tested it on different people yet?" "Yeah we have. It worked for them as well. We just need to see how much it will work. We won't do it to you unless you a serious injured yourself like when you got shot. We want to see if it can help people who are beyond a doctor's help. Once we achieve that in you, you can go back home." "How long would that take?" "Well we constantly have enemy ships coming by and attacking us. It could take one of those times." "All right." I sighed. "Mind if I send a letter to someone?" "no sure. Go ahead. We will have our fasted bird take it where ever you need it to go." Thanks uncle.

I wrote a letter to the Captain, and this is what it said:

Yo Cap.

Its me Kai here. I have a favor to ask. I know you won't like it. It must be done and I will live. I need someone that can infiltrate the ship I'm on. I need to be hurt beyond help. I'm sure someone on the ship has a grudge against me. Send them. Oh and tell Rin I'm OK and I miss her. Tell her I will see her soon and that I am ok. Don't tell Fury or the others this. I wouldn't tell Cliff or Kaia either. I'm sure Fury will find out and come after me to try to stop me. I have been hurt so many times I am pretty much immune to getting hurt. So even if I get hurt beyond help, I will be fine. After this a couple of times, I can come back to you all.

Well Gotta go I'll be waiting for who you send. Oh and have him come talk to me so I know he is from you. I may or may not recognize him. Well talk later see ya cap. I salute to you if I don't make it.

I closed the envelope up and wrote Only captain to open on the front and back. I told them I was done and Aiden saw the envelope and said, "Oh so your sending it to the Captain to let them know you are ok right?" "Yeah among other things I don't want anyone knowing but him. Relationship issues with a girl. Don't worry." So he sent it to the fasted bird and sent it off.
