The Bodyguard of a Villainess in an Apocalyptic Revenge Novel

After leaving a bad review and scolding the author of a web novel, he goes to sleep and opens his eyes to a new environment and body. He became Brick who was a side character who died protecting one of the early villainesses of the web novel. The worst part was that he had the lingering attachment of the bodies previous owner so he could not just escape and survive on his own. He had to protect the villainess so the race would begin between him and the main female protagonist as they try to survive in the apocalypse. Hotel Rooms

Upon searching the room, Brick found a suitcase, clothes, a bible, a tv, a kettle, lamps and some other things.

He began removing the towels and pillowcases then started wrapping up anything heavy before stepping out onto the small balcony that was only a couple of steps outside until he was met with a tall railing blocking his path.

There was only enough room for two people to be stood outside and there was a small gap in between the balcony and the one next door.

He carefully climbed over as quietly as possible and started to slowly pull over the blankets and curtains.

A zombie seemed to pick up on his movements and came towards the balcony area so before it could make a little noise, Brick slid the door open to allow it to get through.

It came outside and went towards Brick but was quickly stabbed in the eye socket before being lowered down to the ground.

He entered the room and was met with another zombie that was hacked at by his axe and with the room being completely empty Brick got to work.

Outside on the balcony was where he was hanging the sheets, blankets and curtains up on the inside and outside of the door and glass window.

He began tying up pillowcases railings so that they could be dropped over to hang over the edge.

He took out some more parts from the toys he found back at the houses in the Reed residence then turned them on whiling adjusting the volume.

They were placed sealed inside the pillowcases before being lowered below.

After checking if everything was prepared, Brick lifted the obstructions to enter back into the room then walked towards the door.

Listening carefully, he took one final look at the room around him and unlocked the door.

The door was pulled wide open which caused the door to slam against the wall so the noise created attracted the zombies.

Brick moved further inside and grabbed a nearby kettle then tossed it out into the hall which was followed by a television being knocked down to the ground.

By the time the zombies had entered the room, Brick had reached the other side of the room and exited through the balcony door.

He let the obstructions he put up fall back into place and climbed towards the other balcony.

The sound of the groaning zombies followed behind and became louder as they increased in number and were closer.

The zombies started to push through once Brick had made it back to the other balcony, they had their vision blocked and those being pushed from those behind had gotten a little tangled in the curtains and blankets that were hung up.

Eventually the force of them being pulled at caused them to fall onto the zombies below.

"Raregh."

"Urrr."

"Hree."

Their vision was obstructed and their hearing lead them forward as they picked up on the noises coming from beyond the railings.

Brick watched from his balcony as the many zombies walked towards the railing and fell over to the ground below.

If someone knew their habits and how to make use of them then the zombies were not that great of a threat.

It was only when they had evolved that they were more dangerous and could not so easily be fooled.

There were still many ways to use their senses against them and lead them to another location using certain methods.

Traps could still be made use of and obstructions too that could injure them or slow them down.

Brick admired his handy work and sighed. 'So all these zombie kills and no big rewards quite yet.. what? Do you want me to face a major life and death situation going head to head with a group of zombies for you to be satisfied?'

He had followed the rules of the novel and used the knowledge he learned from reading the novel but he had yet to obtain what he wanted.

Brick knew that it was only a matter of time before it awakened and he gained a power but Tanya suddenly gaining her own like she did only made him more impatient.

He knew that his energy levels should be slightly higher than others due to the amount of crystal nucleus granules being absorbed into his body every since he had begun so he would have an advantage over those that gained an ability earlier once he got his own.

The problem was the waiting for it to appear and the unease towards future dangers that could appear while he was in a place that was surrounded by zombies.

Awakening a power during a critical moment would sound like a good thing but it did not allow for the user to get acquainted with the use of their ability and it may not be that helpful when used improperly.

Brick knew that simply killing zombies would not reward him and get him what he wanted but the act itself of moving his body around would at least give his body what it needed to absorb the energy within him and to give him that extra stimulus to awaken his powers.

Brick had pulled the pillows back up and collected the parts once he knew it was completely safe then turned the sound off before placing them back into his backpack.

After checking the hallway, Brick roamed from room to room on the same floor while occasionally jumping across to another balcony to enter a locked room.

If the balcony doors were locked then he would smash the window and gain entry that way.

Soon the entire floor was cleared before it started becoming darker, Brick went around stuffing everything that would be useful into whatever could be used to wrap and carry them.

Not a single survivor was found among the rooms he searched which showed the huge difference compared to that floor he cleared and the floor above that Tanya had secured with the help of others.

Not everyone was able to listen to the warnings and made mistakes during the first couple of days so they died then or were accidentally infected due to them not reading up on how to better prevent infection and protect themselves.

Many suitcases were piled up and he brought them to door by the stairs and then walked back up the stairs carrying the bottles, cans and other snacks.

He kept the keys he found so that he could search through them all the day after to see if anything useful could be found within them.

Once he had removed his overalls and cleaned up a little, Brick knocked on the door. "It is Brick. I am back."

It was not long before he was in a room facing Tanya again and she asked him. "What were you doing for so long?"
