1 My lonely life

"Danny wake up, you're late again!" his mother yelled from the living room.

Even though Daniel had zero interest in attending the school. He forced himself out of bed, "oh! I misplaced my glasses again"

Danny's glasses pretty much described the life of Danny himself. Broke, bland, unfixable.

He took a long shower with rushing thoughts of how his life would be if it were like any other normal teenager. As he came out of the shower and looked around his miserable bedroom, with minimal natural light, books flying around, and dirty tissue papers describing the loneliness of a teenager and a loser that no girl would ever date.

He is not propelled to be like the rest of his classmates. Any normal teenager would closely look at themselves daily and take of their skin, and hair, and always be conscious of how other people perceive them but he did not do that or it was more like he did not care about looks anymore because he knew that no one would look at him even if he changed.

Danny put on his usual clothes. It is a basic neutral-colored shirt not ironed properly pants stacked on top of his black shoes.

He went down to have his cereal. Even though his family was not quite rich they always tried to give the best for their only son. They constantly encouraged Danny to live his life according to his terms. "Danny boy did you make it to the football team?" asked his father with hopeful eyes.

"Nope football is dumb, I didn't even make it to the trails" replied Danny bluntly before digging into his breakfast.

"It's okay I know you'll make it the next time, I believe in you" his father cheered him up.

"Dad, I'm done can you drop me to school?", Danny asked changing the topic. He knew he had disappointed his father once again but there was nothing he could do as he had no talent nor interest in anything.

The first class of the day, the most hated one "math". Danny always preferred the last left corner seat close to the window almost invisible to the teacher. The teachers at his school were worried about Danny and his recent academic performance because he was known for his charm and intelligence as a child.

Danny studied in the same school since pre-school, and the faculty witnessed the strange events that took place in his life. The letdown of him and his personality that no one was hoping for.

"Hey penis breath how's your mom, did she drop you to school today"? 'penis breath' that's what he was named by the bullies in his class. Danny had many comeback answers in mind but he always kept them to himself and never said them out loud. He always imagined a series of things that he always wanted to say and do to the bullies but never did or say anything.

"You better stop bothering my friend or I'll make sure the teacher knows about the test you guys cheated on last week", Darlyn said shutting down the bullies.

Darlyn and Danny were friends since they were three. She was a redhead. Smart and funny. The most beautiful girl who every guy wants to be friends with.

As a kid, Danny never realized the attractiveness that Darlyn possessed. All he cared about was playing and talking to her. Life is simple when you are a kid but growing up will twist many things. The world makes you realize that things are not meant for pure hearts.

Danny became intimidated by Darlyn's beauty when he surpassed the toddler phase of his life. Darlyn was absolutely devastated when her only best friend suddenly stopped talking to her for no reason or dispute.

Even though they didn't talk they always cared about each other and Darlyn wasn't afraid to make that known to the world. She stood up for him no matter what.

She always made the effort to bring back the friendship they once had. She never understood the thoughts and actions which Danny made which were totally unlike him.

Little did she know about the pain that Danny was feeling knowing that he had lost his only friend. Every night Danny makes up a scenario in his head about how he goes up to Darlyn and starts talking to her the next morning.

Hundreds of nights with unreal scenarios in his head but never a single morning in which he actually does the things he had planned out at night.

Danny thought about the things he had to do right in his classroom without paying attention to any subject which was being taught in the class. Just him in his thoughts and the breeze from the left window he was sitting at.

His thoughts never stopped but five periods had already passed and it was lunchtime. Danny sighed while murmuring to himself "I should probably stop thinking about things that I have no control over"

He indeed has all the control but never wanted to make an effort to fix the relationships with the people around him.

He thought it was better to stay quiet rather than impose his dark boring life on others. Such was the hatefulness he had developed about himself.
