2 Something Different

Emilia Snow woke up and stretched while looking around her fuschia room, just one more day until her birthday, the day it's confirmed her boyfriend of five years is her mate. She knows it's him, she could feel it in her core that he's the one she is destined to be with. Emilia begins daydreaming about Jakovi Miller, her boyfriend, and the day they were confirmed to be mates. She would walk down the stairs and catch his honey dew scent but it would be sweeter than ever before. He would lift her up and they would throw a huge party to celebrate their official union and then her perfect life would be completed. They would have three pups, two boys and one girl preferably.

Emilia shakes her head to snap herself back to reality so that she can begin preparing herself for the day. She hops into the shower and carefully scrubs the dirt off of her body. Once the shower is done, Emilia moves onto her hair and makeup. Today she has plans to celebrate early with Jakovi by letting their wolves out in the forest and running through the woods until they reach the waterfall. Jakovi said he has a special surprise for her there.

Emilia adds the finishing touches to her makeup and then proceeds to sift through her closet to find the perfect outfit. Fifteen minutes of frustrated groaning later, she settles for a pastel pink sweater, a pink and black plaid mini skirt, black leggings, and a rose red leather jacket. She puts on some pink combat boots and then heads out the door.

Emilia exits her room and looks around, curious as to why it was so silent in the normally rambunctious house. She peeks down the stairs and sniffs the air, searching for a sign of her family members. After a few minutes she gives up and walks downstairs, breathing a sigh of relief that her overprotective brothers weren't around to bother her about today's choice of clothing.

Reaching the bottom of the staircase, Emilia confidently walks towards the front door. Suddenly she hears several pairs of footsteps rushing toward her position. She groans as she quickly dodges her three brothers, stifling a chuckle as they all crash into the door.

The oldest, Cedric, is the first to gather his composure as he snaps his head in his sister's direction. "That was a little uncalled for, don't you think?" He growls in disapproval. Timothy nods in agreement as he dusts himself off.

"What? Did you expect me to just stand still as you barbarians trampled me? No thanks Ced." Emilia says nonchalantly as she flips her hair dramatically. "I say you have about ten seconds to run by the way." She adds with a smirk.

"What do you mean? Run? From who? You? Yeah right." Cedric snorts. "Now go upstairs and get dressed, Emi." He says while squinting at her with distaste toward her outfit.

"CEDRIC MICHAEL SNOW!! WHAT WAS THAT NOISE JUST NOW?!" An angry shout comes from the kitchen. All three boys wince and gulp as they look in the direction the voice came from.

"You're on your own brother, good luck!" Timothy squeaks before rushing out the door faster than lightning.

Winston blinks and links arms with Emilia while ushering her toward the exit. Cedric looks at Winston with betrayal and fear in his eyes. "You too Winny? Come on… don't do this to me." He says with pleading eyes.

Winston silently salutes Cedric while continuing to walk away. "Serves you right, Ced." Emilia chuckles as she exits the house with Winston.

As the duo walk away, shouts and yelps can be heard from within the house. However, they ignore it and continue walking as though they don't hear anything.

"You really shouldn't be wearing so little clothing though, Emi. Males drool over you no matter what you wear, why encourage it? Didn't you say you hate it when men stare at you with lustful eyes?" Winston says casually.

"I did say that and I still feel the same way about it. But I like dressing like this, I'm comfortable in these clothes. Besides, as you said, they'll look at me that way no matter what I wear. So why not wear whatever I want?" Emilia shrugs.

"You sure it's you that likes wearing those clothes and not your boyfriend who likes you wearing them?" Winston asks with a grunt of irritation.

"I'm sure that it's me, don't worry. Even if Jak said he hated it, I would still wear it because it's what I want to do. Don't underestimate your sister so much, you know how stubborn I can be." She reminds him.

Winston squints but doesn't say any more as they continue the rest of their walk in silence. Emilia looks around at their surroundings and decides to ignore the awkwardness as she lists all the different species of flowers that she can spot.

'That's a common poppy, there's an iris, some tiger lilies… ' She thinks to herself but quickly grows bored. Emilia suddenly spots something new and taps on her brother's shoulder, "what's that one called?" She asks with interest while pointing at a deep indigo colored flower with white dots that make it look painted.

"Hmm? Those are Night Sky Petunias, they grow annually and are not toxic. What? You've never seen them before? They're pretty common in this area." Winston explains. He looks at Emilia's sparkling eyes and sighs as he walks over and picks one of the flowers. "Here, it will look good with your outfit." He smiles warmly as he places it in her hair.

Emilia squeaks happily and hugs her brother, "Thanks Winny, you're the best." Emilia skips as she hums with satisfaction. Winston shakes his head and stifles a laugh before running to catch up with her.

Emilia shifts into a magnificent black wolf as she spots their destination, overcome with excitement about the long-awaited chance to let her wolf run freely. Winston pauses and laughs at his overly zealous sister.

"You couldn't wait a couple more feet?" Winston says as he wipes the tears of amusement from his eyes. Emilia snorts as she looks at her brother and then runs off into the woods, Winston shifts into a light tan wolf and follows her closely.

The two wolves wander around for a bit before Emilia stops, catching the scent of a young buck, she signals with her tail for Winston to stay where he is. Emilia sniffs the air, she is placed perfectly downwind from her target. She silently stalks forward, being careful not to step on any twigs.

Peering through some bushes, she could see the buck grazing in a small clearing. All she needs to do now is lunge forward at the right moment and she will have a perfect catch. Her mouth begins to water from the thought of sinking her canines into the deer.

Of course, as luck would have it, Emilia wasn't the only wolf who had spotted the buck. Just as she was readying herself to launch at the prey, a large grey wolf beats her to the punch.

The other wolf landed short and missed its target, scaring off the buck. Emilia jumps out and tries to give chase but the deer's head start was too great as she quickly loses sight of it. Emilia returns to where she had first spotted the buck, feeling flustered that her hunt was ruined before she had a chance.

Seeing the grey wolf nonchalantly sitting in the clearing, Emilia lunges and snarls at it. Having pinned the other wolf, she continues snarling in its face, letting it know how angry she is.

Within seconds, Winston's tan wolf comes hurdling into the clearing. He skids to a halt, momentarily dumbfounded by the scene before him. He snaps back to reality and pulls his sister off of the grey wolf. Winston growls at Emilia and signals with his chin for her to go home.

Emilia growls with frustration at her brother but obeys him as she turns around and heads back home.

Once he's certain that she's out of earshot, Winston shifts back and glares at the grey wolf. "This is Snow territory, you need to leave and go back to where you came from." He warns the wolf before turning around and chasing after his sister.

The grey wolf continues staring in the direction that Emilia had left in, seeming to be in a daze. It shakes its head and turns the opposite direction, not wanting to fight an entire pack of wolves just to settle some curiosity.

Halfway home, Emilia shifts back to her human form and waits for Winston to catch up. She's curious about the unknown grey wolf and why it was in their territory but she knows that asking questions will lead her brothers to become suspicious of her. Emilia would rather go investigate at a later date than have her brothers put her on house arrest for being curious.
