WHO IS SAGE

Derek walk home alone as usual, Freddy left Derek because he had to help his mom with the super market, so Derek got home after the whole encounter he finally reached home.

He opened the door and walked into the house, he greeted his dad and dropped his back pack on the table.

"Derek why are you coming home this late, you don't usually come home late so why the sudden change", mr Kane asked Derek while preparing for work.

"Dad I got hit by a motorcycle, so the rider took me to the pharmacy, and luckily he paid the bills", Derek replied.

"What, how did it happened was the rider blind, but hope you're fine now, I may not come home early tomorrow so there's food in the fridge for tonight an tomorrow, also there's cereals in case you want something light for breakfast", mr Kane replied Derek

Derek walked straight to the kitchen section and opened the fridge, he took a sandwich and he wasted no time in munching it down his tummy.

"And lastly Derek you shouldn't leave the house under any circumstance, I heard that there is a gang war between THE BLUE FLAMES and THE HARD ROCK gangs, so please be careful alright", mr Kane said while exiting the house.

Derek went upstairs and changed into some house clothes, he sat down and tune on the tv, right now he was about to watch an altered championship match which he has been following from the unset, and it's the finals between TIGER JAY and MONKEY KING, this fight is gonna be dope, that's when he saw a message on the tv stating that the fight has been postponed.

Derek was so furious that he stood up went and took his shower, he lay down on his bed and slept off.

It's early in the morning around 6:00 am, Derek was awake and preparing for school he still felt pain in his shoulder region, but it wasn't as painful as yesterday.

"Well I hope today gets interesting, unlike yesterday", he frowned while saying this.

As he step out of the door he saw an envelop on his doorstep, he checked it and it was a warning from the landlord about rent payment and a quick notice, he put it in his back pack and started walking straight to school, and his mind drifted in thoughts, as he thought of yesterday's incident his mind went straight to Sage.

"Who is he and why did he help me, when he could have just easily ignored me being beaten up", Derek thought.

"Well I need to thank him for his help, and where the hell did he learn how to fight like that", Derek thought.

Derek finally arrived at the school gate, he entered and came across Freddy, and they both discussed about the postponing match.

They entered the hallway, and walked straight to their classroom.

"Hi Derek I heard about what happened between you and the Faye brothers, those two dick head needs to be thought a lesson" Cindy said.

Derek replied her, "yeah but they got their own share of pain yesterday though".

Derek walked to his seat and sat down, he opened his text book trying to revise but he couldn't rap his mind around the morning events.

The teacher walked into the class gently and greeted everyone, then she continued teaching the current topic.

She asked the students some questions, and most of the students answered but Derek wasn't paying attention, and it's becoming obvious.

The class ended and it was lunch time so everyone went to the cafeteria, including Derek himself.

Derek planed to ask his helper for money, or probably a job if possible.

While on his way to the cafeteria he met the twins heading there also, so he tried to hide his face but his hair stood out.

"Hey it's that deep shit, Derek am gonna kill you Derek", Peter shouted in the hall so that everyone would hear him.

Derek wasted no time and started running through the crowd of students while running to the cafeteria.

Fortunately for Derek he bumped into sage, and sage recognizes him immediately and called him by name "Derek".

And Derek heard his name being called and saw who was calling him, it's his savior from yesterday.

The twins saw Derek with sage, the senior that fought them yesterday, so they just went down to another table and vented their frustration on an innocent kid.

Derek and sage sat down on the same table,and Derek proceeded in thanking him for helping both yesterday and today.

"You know you'll need to stand up to them, and fight for yourself right ?", sage asked

"Yeah I know but I can't even kill a rat so how the hell do you expect me to fight them, am a weakling", Derek said while tears dripped from his eyes.

He cleaned his tears and said, "please sage I need some money, can you help me with a job, like a side hustle".

"I do but am not sure you'll like the idea though", Sage said.

"Wow anything as far as I get paid no qualms I'll do it then.

"Meet me after school and I'll tell you the details, alright ?", sage replied while standing up and walking out off the cafeteria.

School was almost closed for the day, but each and every student must participate in the school club activities such as, the martial arts club, science club, rugby club and the basketball club.

Derek has always been a member of the science club since the day he enrolled in kroden high, but right now he wants to sign up for the basketball team, like every teenager Derek also wanted to be popular, so he went on with the idea.

When Derek arrived at the basketball hall it was crowded with girls and boys of his age, he went straight to the coach and asked for enrollment into the basketball team, the coach then asked him some questions and also gave him some basketball kits, the coach told him the basics of the game which Derek already knew, so the coach told him to sit and watch how they trained in order for Derek to pick up some skills and knowledge about the game.

After watching the players practice for a while the school bell rings signifying the end of club activities for the day, Derek then walked outside the field looking for sage and he finally saw sage waiting for him outside the school gate.

"Hey get on the motorcycle let's move", sage said sitting on his motorcycle.

"Ok but do you really know how to ride this thing ?", Derek asked in a scared tone while sitting behind sage.

Sage drove the motorcycle with full speed, he drove between cars, buses and other motorcycles, "sweeech, sweech were the only sounds Derek could hear, after driving for a while they arrived at a nightclub but it wasn't booming as a nightclub should because it's still early.

Derek dropped down from the motorcycle and sage also came down, he then walked into the club and some of the staff there were greeting him in a respectful manner.

Though the club was quite empty but some music was playing, and the staff were preparing for tonight's opening.

Sage walked straight to the back of the club he then knocked twice on the door, the door was opened by a gangster dressed in a yellow outfit, they both walked in and sage greeted a huge man sitting on a sofa, Derek greeted him but he didn't even look at Derek, sage on the other hand was talking to the scary man and the man was shaking his head signifying that he accepted what ever sage was saying.

"So your name is Derek right ?, and you wanna work for me ?, are you sure you got what it takes?", the scary man asked Derek.

"Yes yes sir am very hard working", Derek replied.

"Okay but don't you ever steal from me or I'll kill you with my bare hands do you understand me ?", the scary man asked.

"Yes sir I won't let you down and I promise to be loyal sir", Derek replied.

"Your job is not by any means hard, you just have to deliver packages for us and after your delivery you get paid, and you're never allowed to open the package no matter the condition, and if you're caught by the police you will not tell them about me and if you do tell them anything about me I'll hunt and kill your family, do you understand me", the scary man asked.

And Derek immediately answered "yes sir".

Sage told Derek the do's and don'ts of the business and he drove Derek back to the school.

"We'll talk later in school tomorrow", sage said while driving away.

Derek got home, took his bath and went to the kitchen, as he was about to open the fridge he saw a note that his dad left on the fridge for him, he read content "Derek I'll be back late again so you'll have to prepare breakfast for yourself".

Derek sighed after reading the note, he opened the fridge and took the food his dad left for him, he ate the food quickly and watched some tv, he later slept of on the sofa.
