First awakening

Ibby wasn't sure what her parents would do to her if they found out she had broken one of the rules. She didn't understand why these strange rules were so important to them in the first place.

The owner of the store had come up to her, demanding that she pay for the dresses she ruined, and she paid for them.

The drive back to Christine's house was silent, and there was a thick tension in the air. "I'm sure your parents will forgive you for breaking one of the rules" The way Christine said it did not do anything to convince her.

She wondered if the rules were there to keep her from tarnishing the family name. She thought about keeping everything to herself, but the mall owner had asked for her parents' number as she was underaged.

The ringtone of her cellphone pulled her from her train of thoughts, luck seemed to be on her side as she hadn't been paying attention to the road at all, yet they were still alive.

Ibby looked at the caller ID on her phone. After realizing it was her mom, she quickly answered and placed the device at her ear. "Hello," she said in her usual empty voice.

"I heard about what happened at the mall." Her mother started, "I will talk to you about this when I get home, I sent a guard with the key to the house, and he is outside waiting. You are not to leave the house without my permission." Sofia, her mother, said in a voice that left no room for arguments soon as she said that last line Sofia ended the call.

"Is something wrong?" Christine couldn't help but ask after seeing the look on Ibby's face when answering the phone.

Ibby nodded "yeah, it was my mom calling about me breaking the-" Ibby paused in the middle of her sentence as she realized that Christine had mentioned the rules earlier, swiftly scanning her memories. Ibby could not think of a time she had mentioned the strange rules to Christine.

Ibby took her eyes off the road for a second and looked at Christine. Deciding it was better to keep her eyes on the road, she turned her head again "how did you know about the rules?" Ibby asked

Christine had been waiting for Ibby to continue her sentence from earlier, a bit confused as to why she had stopped her sentence but, she had not expected this question and was a bit nervous 'had she figured something out?'

Although Ibby couldn't see, beads of sweat were running down the sides of Christine's face. "You told me before," Christine said as calmly as she could. 'Dammit, how could I have made a mistake like this?' Christine said with fury, 'I hope master doesn't punish me.'

Ibby tried as hard as she could to remember, but she still couldn't. She decided to let it go as this wouldn't be the first time she forgot something.

The drive continued. There were no words exchanged between the two until Ibby had dropped Christine off, and they exchanged a word of goodbye. Ibby would occasionally feel something off about Christine, but she just told herself it was all in her imagination, just as she was doing right now.

Just as her mother had said, a bald man wearing dark sunglasses and in a full black suit awaited her at the front door of her mansion. She parked her car where it would usually be in one of the many garages and walked up to the man. The man handed her the key, and without saying a word, he left.

She disregarded his strange actions as she was used to it, with everyone around her being strange. When she got inside, she didn't immediately go up to her room. Ibby had been feeling a small headache from when she was in the car, and it had slowly been getting worse.

She poured herself a glass of milk and took a sip but, as soon as she did, a vibration-like feeling that had the rhythm of a heartbeat vibrated within her body. The new feeling she felt had caused her to drop the glass of milk.

After the feeling passed, with sloppy steps, she made her way to her room. She opened the room door, and the pulse had returned, but this time the feeling of blood rushing through her veins accompanied it.

The pulse was now faster, and it had felt like her very own heartbeat was attacking her. She screamed in pain and clutched the sides of her head in an attempt to relieve herself.

A small distant voice was whispering in her ear. "DESTROY." It had said. The voice kept repeating this over and over.

Ibby was shaking her head "go away, go away! GO AWAY!" She screamed. Her scream had traveled a long distance, but there was no human there to help her. Red eyes glowed with life at the sound of her voice, although possibly from a different country. These red-eyed creatures had awakened at her voice and were now moving with only one thought in mind.

"Kill the humans and find my master."
