The last day of senior year

"Dahlia" I hear my mom yell from the kitchen. "It's time to get up sweetheart, before you're late" my mom continued. "Okay" is all I managed to yell back. I was perfectly comfortable in my blanket burrito, where I didn't have to deal with more idiotic hormonal teens and annoying teachers. At least it was the last day of senior year. I muster up the non-existent energy to get out of bed. I walked over to my full size mirror and couldn't help laugh at myself. "Another night of tossing and turning I see" I say out loud to myself. My hair looks like I was electrocuted, standing on all ends. I grab my brush and battle through the tangles. Once my hair is brushed and looks human after throwing it up in a messy bun, I walked over to my closet and slide open the door. "What to wear" I say to my over abundance of clothing. I grab my black combat boots, my black jeans and red and black checkered flannel. Once I throw all of my clothes on, I move over to my vanity and apply basic mascara and eye liner. I'm not a typical girl and always feel less is more. With my fair creamy skin, I feel make up would do more harm then "enhance" my looks. I grabbed my black back pack and take one more glace at my safe place before heading downstairs. My Gothic bed frame is the key center piece, and stands tall because it's a canopy bed. My black vanity and other odds and ends. I've always loved dark colors and vintage furniture. Luckily, my dad owns the local antique store and always brings me home the best pieces he stumble upon. My room is a mess, but my mother always insists on "taking care of it". With an over dramatic "sigh" I make my way downstairs. As soon as I walk out of my room, I get smacked in the face with aromas of pure bliss. I can tell right away mom went all out again as she does every morning, or any meal for that matter. Bacon, eggs, pancakes, fried potatoes. Surprisingly, with how much my mom cooks for every meal and how much I over indulge, I never gain a pound. I can hear her now "A growing girl needs plenty of food options to grow strong" I laugh at the thought at my moms predictable statements. Before my foot hits the last step "grab a plate honey, we need to leave in 20 minutes so you're not late" my mom borderline yells. When I reach the kitchen, what a sight to behold. No wonder mom was yelling. She has her headphones on and her work out attire on, flipping Flap Jack's and dancing to the music. She almost looks like a dancer out of an 80's workout video. I just laugh and grab a plate and over fill it. As I'm eating I see my dad come out of his den ready for work. He grabs my mom by the waist and startles her and scramble egg get launched all over the place. I'm barely miss by the assault. "Ethan will you ever grow up" my mother seethe at my dad. "High five" my dad yells at me and I eye roll and ignore his hand gestures to save myself from my mother's wrath. I finished my food when I see my dad go in for a kiss from my mom. "Don't be mad, please honey" Ethan says. "Gross" I say and head out to the truck. I get in and buckle up with a smile on my face. My parents are too much sometimes, but I love them and I couldn't imagine where my life would be if they never adopted me. "Ready to go" I hear my dad say and he jumps into the driver's seat. "I'm going going take you to school, mom's still pretty upset with the egg mess" we both chuckle out loud. "We got to hurry up, got to be at school in 10 minutes" he states. We live just outside of Dravenwood town. I love it out here. Plenty of woods and quiet we don't have a neighbor around for miles. It beats the annoyance of town life. Even being in a smaller town, the hassle of always on the go is always in full force. My dads lead foot gets us to Dravenwood High, with two minutes to spare before the bell. He cleared 5 miles in 8 minute before I get out, "Dahlia, your mother and I need to talk to you when school ends, come by the shop after school and I'll drive you home" my dad says, with an uncharacteristic serious look. "Okay, dad gotta go" I say slamming the truck door and rushing into the school entrance.
