1 Chapter 1: Returning (Rewritting)

-Returning to the past can often be harder than moving forward

The mortal realm was separated out into six continents Xian, Wu, Zhao, Cao, Lu, and Ping. Father used to say that the borders of each continent were decided by the stars in the sky. Each continent dominated by one family of the founding families standing as the guardians placed by the heavens themselves. For Wu, the Yu stood tall, in the Zhao the Yao were proud, for the Lu the Mu bear fruit, in the Ping there was a Ming, never in the Cao were they Sao, and finally in Xian there where us the Tian. There was a time when a child would hang on to each word of our father, such simpler times have long past.

Returning to the Mortal realm was never an easy decision... So many long years they say you never appreciate what you have until it's gone. Even being abandoned by everything you loved could not sway the feeling of belonging upon returning to these lands. Truly there was no reason to return, it could be a form of morbid curiosity after all the flow between realms due to there separation was massive, for each year in the mortal realm would last at least a thousand in the higher realms.

Maybe he could return to find something that remained of his former life, sometimes the simplest of things in life are what we desire the most. Early in his misguided cultivation, he believed that the life of a hermit would be his path and that isolation would help him become whole again. Only when the master had shown to me the path I should take. Then and only then did I begin to accept the flow of the outside world and become a true cultivator, understanding that no one was truly alone in this world; in the end, we all must face the cycle of life and death.

What we do in this life defines us as such we must accept the outside world exists...

Guardian of Xian Continent - Dragon of the Seven Heavens

The home of the main branch of the Tian family sat upon a mountainous outcrop, almost as to touch the clouds above, these mountains sat at the heart of the Xian continent directly upon the Dao heart of the earth a point which was said to be the place in which the gods first touched the world. With the rising of the sun, the patriarch's 50th birthday would begin.

All the memories of the mortal realm had been sealed in the deepest part of his mind by his despair never able to move beyond it but to also as to remind of why he had left it all behind in search of a better life and strength. Often during his talks with my master, I would be teased for being too sentimental... maybe I just needed to remind myself that I was different from my fellow disciples, never truly belonging. Separated from home.

--( 3rd Person POV)--

When passing through the barrier leading to the mortal world Tian Yi imagined that there would be some sense of belonging. All he had found on his journey was sorrow, knowing that he was once again leaving those he cared about. At least this time it was had been his decision. Deep down Tian Yu had always carried a resentment toward his master for taking him away. Even though it was at a time in his life where there was nothing left for him. He had only been 17 years of age confused and without guidance taken advantage of without his knowing, stolen from his realm.

Tian Yi's journey to the mortal realm had not been easy many of those who he had left behind had tried to stop him from leaving but all had failed only to leave a taste of bitterness in his wake. For the many years, he had been traveling to reach the 'Gate of the Abyss' a pit of darkness cut from the fabric of reality descending all the way down into the mortal plane. Each side guarded by a Golden gate, a barrier to protect the realms from its darkness. The pit itself not only contained a great many powerful entities but was also a never-ending labyrinth contorting the very time and space it existed in. Now has he finally looked down upon the world he once belonged to he could not help feeling cold as if he was staring at a foreign land even though in this world it had only been a mere decade since his departure.

The situation was certainly was not a new one to Tian Yi's but still, he found himself quite out of place, while his looks weren't anything that stood out in a crowd it could be said that there was a certain air about him separating him from the ordinary passer-by. Tian Yi eventually allowed himself to be caught up in the madness of the streets, finding his destination would simply be easier too as the flow of people would only be heading one direction on such a joyous day. In Tian Yi's mind, the flowing of time was no obstacle to his task and he found his own needs correlated with the common man, to go against it such things maybe to deny fates nagging.
