The Black Wings of a Crow

My best friend and I go to school together at a secret academy hidden by magic in the woods. We never dreamt of leaving, until one day when I uncovered a riddle, whose answer has been hidden from me for a long time, and went on a quest to discover it’s meaning. Dodging monsters, sneaking into palaces, and escaping the clutches of a tyrant king are only a few of the adventures that can be found in this fantasy expedition story.

Extra: Christmas Update!

~3 months earlier~

"MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!" Erik yelled, bursting into my room. I jolted awake, and as a safety reflex, I threw a small knife at him. It embedded itself into the doorframe inches from his head.

"Hey!" Erik yelped.

"Sorry. Maybe you shouldn't burst into my room at..." I turned and checked my clock, "3 in the morning?! Did you not sleep?!"

"No..." Erik said sheepishly. "Well, get up anyways! I'm too excited! Let's goooo!"

Laughing, I rolled out of bed, and walked across the cold, wood floor, barefoot. I went into the kitchen to make breakfast, but I stopped, because Erik had already made breakfast. Eggs, bacon, fruit and some cinnamon rolls were laid out on two little plates. Erik beamed, and handed me my plate, almost running to the sofa. We had a small, 6 foot tree that was decked out with ornaments, and lights. A few presents were underneath it. I sat down and we both ate, before handing out presents. I gave Erik a cookbook, a watch, a whetstone, and a new hoodie. He gave me earrings, a new sheath, that I could wear on my back, and

"Fuzzy slippers! Yay! Thank you!" I cried.

"You keep saying your feet are cold when you get up in the morning, so why not wear fuzzy slippers in the morning than socks at night?" Erik explained, smiling.

"I love them! They're so soft!"

"I'm glad you like them. They weren't easy to find. Shipping is near impossible to get out here. 'Hey, do you ship out to a school full of trained assassins in the middle of the woods in a secret location?'" Erik joked.

~Present Day~

"Aw man. That was a great Christmas. We had fun that day. Remember, we filled that trashcan with water, and leaned it on the door to Chris's room?" Erik chuckled.

"Yeah! Then we knocked, and ran. When he opened the door all the water spilled in his room! Hahaha! The look on his face was priceless!" I laughed.

"Yeah, too bad we got in trouble. Luckily it was Mr.Castleton, so our punishment wasn't too bad, since he got a laugh out of it."

"Hahaha. I miss those days. Now we can't afford to have fun, because our homework and tests take up all our time."

"Well, at least we actually get Christmas off! Most people at these kinds of academies don't. Well, we have a test to study for, so we should probably get on that."

"We should, since *someone* forgot to write down notes half the class." Erik pointed out. I lightly punched his arm, and we started studying for the test.
