Selena's mind raced, desperately trying to process the enormity of Howard's revelation. She pushed him away, her eyes darting around as if searching for an escape from the suffocating atmosphere.

Everyone always talked around in circles with her about the matter. Ava had told her that she couldn't help him. Didn't that mean he was risking everything by being with her?

Selena's body quivered as she stood there with a look of confusion and guilt. Sienna was the Cayaline flower of Rosemane, not her. She must be the only one who could help him but Selena was forced to replace her. She never said it out loud but Selena took King Liam as her survivor. If he didn't let her live and take the place the Sienna should have had she would have eventually died in that dungeon and never got to have her freedom. But she couldn't repay him. She couldn't help him deal with his affliction.
