222 The Battle

The second we entered the dark cave, Azel lit up the area with a ball of floating fire. We had already decided to fight the monster head on and an easy assassination would not help us grow.

As the bright light invaded its slumbers, the zepsile rolled to its feet, giving us our first look at the creature.

Backlit by the floating ball of fire, the zepsile was imposing. Steam puffed from its large nostrils and it made me feel like I was staring down an enormous alligator, waiting to pounce. The body was no less frightening and it looked more agile than an alligator, a large scaled tale and the limber body of a massive lizard.

Stamping its foot on the cavern floor, the zepsile seemingly grinned as the ground rumbled and moved under us.
