40 Captured

Azemo regained his senses and remembered the events of the previous night. 'I actually killed him but somehow time was reversed.' Azemo gnashed his teeth and looked around the cell.

After the archmage had captured him the humans had decided to keep him alive. They wanted to allow the Supreme General the pleasure of killing one of the few remaining demons.

As for Azemo escaping they believed there was no chance of that. The cell that they had put Azemo in was enchanted with so many spells that it was impossible to leave. The only way the cell would disappear was when Azemo had died. Anyone could enter but no one could leave until the marked one had perished.

Azemo had heard the discussion between the Lightning Sword and the archmage as they were checking the cell.

"It seemed he disguised himself as the Spear Goddess' student."

"The monster probably already killed her student to be able to take his place."

"Send a message to the Spear Goddess we should at least let her know."

Azemo was a bit relieved when he heard this, at least Kaede would not get in trouble thanks to his actions. That would have been the worst possible outcome.

Azemo checked his belongings and found that he still had everything. Either the humans couldn't take his weapons or they didn't care enough to do so.

'Bella and Ima."

Azemo quickly opened the room bag to find that the two were still sleeping peacefully. 'I need to think of a way to get them out of here. Maybe if Kaede visits she will take them.'

Azemo saw no way for him to escape so he at least wanted to make sure that no one else was affected by his failure.

'Well they will have to come in here to kill me. I might as well prepare so I can take down at least one of them with me.'

Azemo stretched his body, he had not really received any wounds except for a gash on his forehead that the Lightning Sword had inflicted after Azemo was captured. Compared to the usual pain that Kaede inflicted, Azemo was at peak condition.

After checking the state of his body Azemo began to train, practicing sudden attacks delivered from unexpected positions. 'I will make them think my spirit is broken and when they drop their guard they will die.'

Suddenly Azemo's tome burned. 'What a time for an evolution.' It seemed that using his magycka to deal a fatal blow to the Lightning Spear had helped his growth.

Azemo quickly fell down as green flames burned all over his body and he passed out. After a couple of hours his magycka finished evolving and Azemo was able to regain consciousness. Shadows Call was now at advanced stage and as usual the only appearance changes that Azemo received was a brighter fire in his eyes.

As for how Shadows Call had changed, it could now teleport as many objects as the user's mana could handle and it had a new effect as well. User can teleport unwilling objects if user supplies enough mana, unwilling objects can not be larger than three feet and user must be touching unwilling objects.

'Unwilling objects. I wonder what that means.' Azemo did not really think about it because he needed to focus on preparing to take a human down with him.

Besides his magycka (skill) Hover, had reached its final stage. User can now control as many objects as mana allows and user can perfectly control floating objects. This meant that Hover could now be used offensively. For example when he was running low on mana he could control Ceravin to attack if he wanted.

If Azemo did not feel like experimenting with (magycka) Shadows Call, he really did not care about the upgraded (skill) Hover. He felt as if he had no time to learn new things.

As soon as he had completely recovered and glanced over the changes in the tome Azemo went back to preparing for his assassination.

It was while Azemo was practicing that Kaede finally made her way to the prison. The outside guards did nothing to stop the Spear Goddess and she quickly made her way to Azemo.

Her thoughts were a riot and she did not know what to believe. 'Was Azemo a demon or was he really replaced by a demon like the archmage thinks. It might just be a way to save face because they don't want to admit that a demon tricked powerful humans.'

All her thoughts were swept away when she saw Azemo. He was training while he was in prison. 'That is the Azemo I know and I don't care if he is a demon.'

As Kaede transformed back into her real appearance and Azemo finally noticed her causing tears well up in his eyes. ' She will hate me, after all I betrayed her and all of humanity.'

"Are you okay, if they did anything to hurt you I will destroy them." Kaede's words broke down the barrier that was stopping the tears and he began to cry.

"I am sorry master."

"Don't apologize, your master is at fault, I should have helped you with your troubles."

"I am a demon and I never thought I could tell you that."

"Demon, human, it doesn't matter to me. You are the disciple of the Spear Goddess and I chose you because I believed in you." Kaede was also getting a bit emotional and she had to lower her voice to avoid shouting.

"Do you want to tell me why you went after the Lightning Sword."

"He slaughtered those that were closest to me and I only kept living to gain revenge. I actually managed to kill him too, but then somehow time reversed."

"Silly boy, that is an item that the archmage created for him but he won't have it next time you two clash. It takes too long to make one."

"Next time we clash? Master there is no way for me to leave this cell alive."

"Don't have such little faith in your master or I might have to beat you up again. I will get you out of here."

"Master don't be ridiculous but just promise me that you will take care of Bellania and Imagine when I have gone."

"You won't die but if you ever fall they will have my protection."

Azemo stopped talking and just looked at Kaede with gratitude in his eyes. He had really been blessed with extraordinary teachers in this life.

"Don't get caught up with me. Just say that I somehow killed your student just before the tournament."

"What kind of master do you think I am if I can't even protect my only disciple."

"Master you don't need to get caught up in my problems. Please just leave me to my fate."

However Kaede was adamant and the two decided to talk about something else for a while. For the next couple of hours Kaede had Azemo tell her everything about his life at the demon stronghold and the final battle. Kaede had not participated in the final battle so she knew little about what had actually happened.

While Azemo was telling her about how he met Ima and Bella, Kaede suddenly stood up.

"It is here." Kaede quickly left and returned with a small tennis ball sized orb. The orb was blue but when one looked closer they could see clouds floating throughout the orb.

"Catch." Kaede tossed the orb into the cell towards Azemo's hands.

"What is this master?"

"It is your ticket out of here. It is the life saving item the archmage made for me. As soon as you break it you will be teleported back to the forest near my palace."

"I could never take something like this from you master, what if you need it?"

"You really don't have enough faith in your master, I will be sure to beat you the next time we see each other. Also there is no way for you to get the orb out of your cell so you might as well use it."

"Thank you master." Azemo was being a crybaby again, he knew he could no longer be Kaede's disciple.

"As soon as you teleport, avoid humans as much as possible for a while and never hesitate to come to my palace if you need help. I would fight the entire world for you, so be sure to visit."

There were no goodbyes. Both of them would not say goodbye because that would mean they were accepting the fact that they would not meet again.

Kaede turned away to hide her emotions and when she turned back Azemo had gone.
