"Drake?"

I sat up abruptly on my bed as I heard the voice outside of the door to my bedroom. Glancing over towards the doorway I could just barely see my mother peeking through the crack as she whispered, "It's almost midnight. Why are you still up?"

"Mom!" I exclaimed in horror as I hurriedly climbed off of the edge of the mattress to stand up. "Don't sneak up on me like that! Are you trying to give me heart failure!?"

My mother rolled her eyes playfully, "What are you gonna do if I wasn't sneaking up on you? Come into your room unannounced? Do you really want me barging in here whenever I feel like it? What would happen if Emma woke up and found me suddenly walking around inside your room instead of sleeping at her own bedside?"
