Chapter 49: Helina Returns to Her Pack

Chase rolled his suitcase out of his penthouse while Helina waited for the elevator. She eyed him. “What are you doing?”

“I’m coming with you.”

Helina doubted that was a good idea. It was time for her to go back to her pack and testify in front of the Wolf Council against Kurt. Harlan had reached out to her yesterday. She’d told Chase right away, but they hadn’t discussed him coming with her. “Uh, no. You can’t.”

“Why not?”

“Uh.”

She didn’t have a clear argument. If he were human that would be reason enough, but she knew he wasn’t. Chase rose to his full height, which meant he was going to insist. The man could be persistent and aggravating when he let his wolf take over. “I’m a wolf shifter. Your pack is wolves. I’ve been in hostile situations before and I’ve come out triumphant.”

“This isn’t a business negotiation. You are a male wolf coming into another pack’s territory.”

“And what do you think is going to happen?”

“You’re going to be challenged and may have to fight.”
